  1. I have to admit I cheated a little this year.......The lights on the house were still up from last christmas.
  2. I thought we had a couple sets of "chaser" light somewhere...can't seem to find them though...Wife just smiles and shakes her head. She knew what I was up to....lol. This is the fourth year for me lighting up a yard ornament. First one ever was my mj. I had only had it a couple months and didnt have it driveable yet. Second year was a john deere garden tractor with cart. Last year i lit up a 77 f250...........On a side note we seem to get alot more traffic after dark on our street this time of year...... :D :D :D :D
  3. Well here's what I did today for anybody interested....Wife was complaining that my cj7 project was making the decorations look bad.......So I solved the problem and a quick video of the rest of the yard :D 8) 8) :D
  4. I run the napa gold. which is the same as the wix. I stock up when my local napa has their filter sale.
  5. Ihave an 89 4x4 with a 4.0 and puegot 5 spd. Truck has 208,000 o the clock now. The po told me the trans had been replaced when I got it. I have put about 35,000 miles on this truck since ive had it. I drive it every day, plow snow with it in the winter time, and use it to pull my 12 foot trailer ( weighs about 1,100 lbs ) loaded with 2 large atvs. The trans is still going strong. While not the greataest of trans in a dd with stock size tires the stock 5 spd will do the job as long as you don't abuse it......just my 2 cents
  6. I had a hard time locating a set of airbags for my 89 when I installed the 6 foot meyer plow on mine. I ended up getting a set of air shocks and mounting them in place of the regular shocks on my mj. I run them with about 25 psi normally and then air them up when I put the blade on. After I mount the blade I raise it up and air the shocks up till the truck sets like it does without the plow. This will be my third season plowing with them and I havent had any problems yet and I run them year round.
  7. Yeah... I'm not a fan of a used tank either, but, I figured can't hurt you never know till you ask.
  8. Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna try to check it out tomorow.....
  9. Ok guys the metal munching termites have really wreaked havoc on my poor old mj. Anybody have a decent tailgate and / or gastank thet wanna part with?

I cast my vote for the mud lights. I ran a set on my old 300 suzuki king quad and LOVED them. They were great in the mud and also had good manners on the harder packed stuff.. I just put a set of mud light xt's on my new 750 king quad and have no complaints with them so far. One thing I noticed about the regular mud lights was that they still seemed to "bite" pretty good even after they were significantly worn down.
  11. I guess a a few dollars in parts here and there isnt bad when you consider it takes me back and forth to work almost every day.(70 miles a day) Plus usually makes me $1,500.00 or so every winter.
  12. went ahead and replaced both upper and lower balljoints yesterday. I figured with all the miles and two seasons of carrying the snowplow around it couldnt hurt. I also readjusted the toe setting after I was done. And the end result is things are much better now. The old girl drives like a new one again at any speed.....
  13. he cut down and sectioned a chevy fender. Then used that fender to make a mold so he can make them from fiberglass.
  14. Check your toe adjustment on the front wheels. I just went through the exact same symptoms you described. Finally checked the toe the other night and the front wheels were toed in about 5/8". My fsm says it should be between 1/16" and 1/8". I adjusted mine out to 1/8" and it drives much better now.....
  15. I went ahead and ordered a new set tonight. I figure if they are moving enough up and down for me to plainly see it then thats too much.
  16. Ok so I adjusted the toe on the old manche tonight and she drives much better. While I had it in the garage I figured Id give the front end a quick checkup. I noticed that I have some up and down movement in the upper ball joints on both times. While pricing the new joints out on the napa website I noticed that the part description reads as follows......Ball joint does not articulate stud only spins. Up and down movement is normal.....My question is.....Is this correct ? And if up and down movement is normal then how much should I have?
  17. The truck has had a shake since I lifted it but it wasnt to bad and if you had the nuts you could drive through it. I put a new set of tires on this fall in preperation for snow plowing and it has intensified the problem greatly. Tires are 235/75 r 15's and have been spin balanced.
  18. Truck has about 2" of lift up front. I never checked the toe after the spacers were installed. I have checked all the normal culprits, ( ball joints, track bar, tie rod ends, wheel bearings ...ect) and everything checks out ok. Just figured maybe Id check the toe before I start throwing parts at this thing........lol
  19. Thanks for the link.....Now for my next question.....Could 1/2" of toe in cause the front end shimmy I have been having?
  20. I'm wondering what the toe on my 89 4x4 should be set at. I did a rough measurement tonight with a ruler and mine is toed in about 1/2". This seems a bit wide to me. If it is to wide where do I adjust it at? I thinking the sleeve on the left tie rod end is the toe adjustment but I want to mave sure. Thanks.
  21. here's my 89 pioneer workhorse.
  22. I am probably going to start changing parts. I really don't need to drive this truck at those kinds of speeds but like to know that if I have to I can.
  23. I went ahead and rotated the last night in an x pattern. I can now get the old girl up to right about 65 mph before the front end starts to boogie. The old girl drives as smooth as silk up to that point so vibration shimmy or shaking......I did notice that if I hit a pretty good bump at 45 mph and up I get a couple shakes from it but it settles back down after a couple seconds or so.
  24. Thanks ill give that a try tomorrow evening after work.
  25. I like the look of dupli color semi gloss black myself. Has a little sheen to it compared to flat black but isnt glossy.
