Out of Blinker Fluid... Blinkers not working
oldrusty replied to ScottyDog's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have never had to look at my mj.......so far......but most vehicles use a seperate flasher for the turn signals and 4 way flashers. Therefore yo can have a bad flasher that won't blink for turn signals but still have the 4 ways work fine. -
1 2 shift is crisp seems fine. trans just won't shift from 2nd to 3rd
-
I have a recently rebuilt 727 auto in my 68 satelitte that is giving me problems. On my initial test drive the trans would shift from first to second but refused to shift into drive until I got it up to about 50 mph or so. I went home and adjusted the kickdown as short as I could make it and everything seemed ok. Took the car for another ride today and all was good until I stopped at the local NAPA for abou ten minutes. Left there to go hame and I'm back to not wanting to shift from 2nd to 3rd. Any ideas?

Definately pays to take the extra time. Ive painted stuff for years but never took the time to really buff one out......wow what a difference .

If I remember correctly the 454 wasnt available in the early to mid 80's gm trucks. I think the biggest engine optoin was a 350..........Doesnt mean someone couldnt have swapped one in there though. I really havent messed with the chevy trucks in a while though so I may be completely wrong.

YES YES YES............of course i may be slightly biased.

Here you go fellers......... first time ever undr it own power on easter sunday all basecoted ready for the shiny stuff 5 coats of clear later(lots of clear to sand and buff

Well tonight was the first time in the five years Ive owned her that I got to move it under its own power. Backed it out of the garage to try and blow off some dust from all the sanding. I'm hoping to paint it sometime in the next week or so. Was going to do it tomorrow but found a few blemishes that still need work. Ill try to post up some current pics over the weekend.

Just a quick update for those who told me to keep the faith. I've been working 3 weeks now at a new job that so far is going great. Wound up going to work for the company that my old job was farmed out to. Started out at the same pay level with a nice raise coming after 90- days probation. New job is steady daylight with weekends off and has way better benefits....Wife just had her 6 week checkup after the miscarriage on Monday and the doc says everything is a-ok. They don't know for sure why she had the miscarriage but can't see any reason why we shouldnt try again.( when and if she wants to.). So once again thanks for the words of encouragement.

I run a set of air shocks on the front of my comanche to help support the weight of thw plow. I leave them at about 30 psi or so for normal driving and then add just enough air to bring the front end back to ride height when i put the blade on. Good luck with it. I love mine for plowing. Its way more manuverable than the f250 we have at work....Just need to remember its a little truck and plow with the storm in heavy snow.

I changed the ignition lock cylinder in my 89 due to a disappearing set of keys. Its not that bad of a job especially if you have the tool to remove the retainer for the "lock plate?". On a side note my keys reappeared about 20 minutes after I finished changing the ignition. :fs1: :fs1:

Night time temps need to stay about 45 - 50 degrees or so if you want your seed to germinate quickly. If you do fertilize make sure not to get fertilizer with crabgrass preventer. The crabgrass preventer is basically a seed killer and will keep the grass seed from growing also. I have had moderate success seeding over established lawns by first dethatching then using a plug airerator before seeding and fertilizing.

really shouldnt be that bad to get back together. I had been looking for a wrangler for the wife to drive in the summer. Needs a few parts and some tlc but well get r done....Now I just gotta finish that hot rod mopar so I can get it in the garage.

MY buddy called me last night to tell me he bought a mustang so his jeep project has to go. I always told him Id like to have it so I got first dibs. What I bought.......1982 cj7 renegade. straight six 4 speed. Looks to have about 4 inches of lift. 33's on mickey thompson wheels. soft top What I paid for it.......$800.00 The good.........brand new moser rear axles.......brand new gm hei style distributor.......reman engine....new clutch and pressure plate.......Originaly came from mississippi and has very little rust at all.......also has an 8274(i think?) mounted on the front The bad.....its wrecked.......needs a fender grille and hood.....has a small amount of damage on the tub but not much......1 tire has a sidewall cut and will have to be replaced.......someone somewhere was going to pull the engine and cut all the wiring going to the engine. Now to the questions.....does anyone know what auto trannies were used behind the 258ci six? ( wife doesnt do a stick and I'm going to put it together for her mostly.

New Guy Here - Is the 2.8 V6 that bad?
oldrusty replied to Jimmy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had 2 s10's with the 2.8. First one was an 85 blazer 4x4 that the wife had when we got married. I HATED that stoopid truck :fs1: :headpop: . It was affectionately known by anyone who knew me as tht little blue mother #@&*$#. It was severly underpowered and never seemed to run right from the day she bought it. It did finally expire one day on her way to work. Engine spun 3 main bearings and broke 2 rods. In its defense it did still run enough for me to limp it home( had 2 put it in low range 4x4 to get up the hill at the end of the road....lol) My other 2.8 experience was in an 83 s10 shortbed 2 wheel drive. That little thing was a trooper. I got the truck with a bad trans for free from a co worker. Put a $50 junkyard tranny in it and beat the snot out of it for 4 years. It finally just got so rusty I was afraid it was going to break in half. That thing ran great, seemed to have good power , and got really decent gas mileage.........That being said if you have ever driven a comanche with a 4.0 you'll understand why no one likes the 2.8. -
I hava a set of metal disconnect tools that have always worked for me. I have had to tap the tool up into the body of the connector on a few stubborn ones. If you need a new set check these out http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/d ... mber=96834 They look alot like the set I bought off the snapon truck but are alot cheaper.

I have a buddy that builds demolition derby cars that used to run nothing but 15" skid loader tires on the rear of his cars. The promoters who put the derby on eventually outlawed them. Those things were awesome in the mud......Kinda like a blown, injected, supercharged, psycho rototiller on nitrous oxide........
-
If your going to just run them off road. You could check into having the centers of a set of jeep rims welded into th 16.5's. That is the route I'm taking on my 77 highboy mud buggy. I got a smokin deal on some nice ag tires at a local machinery auction that are about 36" tall and 14" wide. :brows: :brows:

:hijack: I once dropped a 2 door plymouth reliant onto a 1/2 ton chevy 4x4 frame. God that thing was stoopid looking. Had a pontiac v6 for power and 40 inch ground hawgs. High range was absolutely useless. :hijack: .......and we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
-
Definately has a little more lift than I or my wallet care for, but I LOVE a good mud truck....lol

starts about 2:15 in

Mine was stumbling but only under a load like when your trying to pull a hill in 5th gear. As soon as you downshifted and brought the rpms up it ran fine. Wound up being a bad tps. I tried to adjust it but couldnt get the correct output voltage. Runs great again with a new one.
