  1. 235's on what used to be a 2WD chassis. For quick lift in the rear, either use the drop shackles or swap in a set of 4WD leafpacks. The packs will net 2-3" (depending on how sagged your 2WD packs are :D ) I got a hair over 3" on mine (and am spacing the front to match) and installing 31"s and a set of WJ LCA's. I only have rubbing with the 235's on the driverside LCA at full left turn. Jeff Image Not Found
  2. Should just bolt right in, assuming the input matches (21 spline, short). IIRC, the 207 is about 1/2" longer than the 231, not enough to matter. And the linkage is the same, or similar enough to work (?) Jeff
  3. It may be hard to see, but there's a small dot on the cam sprocket and either another dot or a "^" on the crank sprocket. At TDC, they do NOT line up. The crank mark should be at 12:00, and the cam mark should be roughly at the 10:00 position. They are only used for reference if you remove the chain/sprockets.....you align them to take them back off and put a new set back on oriented the same way, and count pins between the first pin off the right side of the cam sprocket to the 6:00 position on the crank sprocket. There must be 20 pins or else the valve timing is off. (The cam sprocket has a dowel pin hole that lines up with a dowel in the front of the cam, and the crank sprocket is keyed, so you really can't mess that up anyway). Make sure the tensioner isn't worn out. If it is, it's possible for the chain to skip a tooth (although not likely). Here's a pic of my old set, and you can see the timing marks before I removed the set, tensioner removed: Jeff Image Not Found
  4. I've got Gabriel something-or-others on mine and am running sleeveless. They came with lower sleeves, but they were too small to fit so I chucked them. Although it may not be correct, there've been no problems here.... Jeff
  5. With an open diff on my tractor, and the slope some parts of my yard has, I could have used a winch a time or ten in the past. I ended up breaking both rear wheels trying to bounce the rear end to get traction (wayyy off camber) and had to get them rewelded. Good idea! Jeff
  6. No, the blankout plate I got from a junkyard MJ. And I thought MY MJ was a bare-bones model! least it had a lighter.... Jeff
  7. In a sheer attempt at pure automotive electrical genious, that same wire is now powering my $25 Kmart head unit in the dash, and I have a blankout plate where the lighter used to be :D (I cut the power wire for the radio too short once inside the dash and lost it somewhere :D ) It works good, for the most part, but I have to turn the heater on to listen to anything on AM, or else there's too much engine interference....... I plan on fixing it, someday. Jeff
  8. "sukaspamius" they're getting cute with their names..... http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/prof ... 750dcd00ba Jeff
  9. AA has a kit, if you're loaded.... You can cobble together the same thing with a Dakota bellhousing, a Camaro clutch and a CJ pilot bushing/bearing. There's a huge post over on Pirate that explains it all. Jeff
  10. 10 spline, same as Frenchy...... http://www.high-impact.net/transmission ... nformation:
  11. 10 bonus points for incorporating carbonated beverages into your pics ;) and those DB's are drop-dead sexxay... Jeff
  12. Yeah, it's 1/8". I went to pick it up last night to put it in the bed and nearly threw it right over my head. I'm used to handling....heavier stuff :rotf:
  13. Hmmm...if I sent you one, that was the extra one I thought I had  No problemo though, they're all over the junkyard. I'm going out of town again this weekend, but will be back and was planning a junkyard run on Monday afternoon. PM me a mailing address Fernanado, and I'll get one off to ya next week. Jeff
  14. Cool deal....I love deals ;) I've got a set of stock 7 spoke (I think) wheels some guy gave me last year they're gonna go on. They have less backspacing, or are supposed to anyway, I haven't measured them yet. I hafta drag them out from under the house and go jihad on them with the angle grinder and wire wheel, then spraybomb them (flat black, like all the cool guys are doing these days :D ) I'll probably install the WJ arms and lift the front end when I do. Jeff
  15. Well, I ended up getting it last night. It'll work for now, until I scrape up the money for a winch, then I'll build a winch bumper. Compared to Pat's rear bumper, this Tomken is considerably lighter ;) . It doesn't have D rings, but it has a receiver. The tie-in plates are meh.....they only use the 3 bumper bracket bolts. I'm going to have a set of those other plates made up and get them welded in place of them Overall, for what I paid for it, it's decent. Pat, I bought it from a buddy of yours (Randy) from MPJAI. He's in school here at VCU, and says "hey" :D Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  16. Yeah, that was me....about 1.5 yrs ago (you have a good memory :D ) Left Richmond at 0600 Saturday morning, drove 11.5 hrs straight, got into town arond 7 and found a cheap hotel, went to sleep. Got up at 5, called and met Danno, loaded the engine in the back of my Escort and drove straight back to VA. Landed all red-eyed around 8 PM, about 1600 miles roundtrip. Not doing that again anytime soon. Jeff
  17. 31's for now, just so I can actually drive it on the highway without tach-ing to too much. 33's to follow when I swap the '44 in and SOA I couldn't pass on them for the price..... Jeff
  18. I thought there was a thread on here somewhere of pics of everyone, but I couldn't find it  Anyways, here's a couple shots of me in my natural state, and one nice one of me and the missus. If she looks peeved in the pic, that's because it was taken about an hour after I lost my wedding ring in the pool  (found it about an hour later, tho). Now all y'all know us.... 19. Here's a couple shots of Pat's old bumper that I'm running on my shortbed. I had to modify it because 1) it had rock sliders and I didn't want to cut my rockers out just yet (should have, I'm stoopid) and 2) he built it for his longbed and things were in the way under my shortbed and 3) I tucked it inbetween the bedsides instead of running it outboard like Pat made it. All solved via the sawzall. Even with the sliders cut off, you still almost drop a nut trying to lift it  Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  20. It's a Jeep....something would be wrong if it DIDN'T leak :D A pinion seal leak might fool you into thinking the cover gasket is leaking....it runs down the bottom of the pinion and back the housing and drips off the bottom edge of the cover. Jeff
  21. Picked up a set of 31x10.5 BFG's after work yesterday from a local guy on another board. Not too shabby for $100 :brows: just need to get a spare and get these mounted.... Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found
  22. I've been to Tennessee once.....Lawrenceburg to be exact. Drove there to pick up a free 2.5L (complete) that will eventually be transplanted into my MJ. Does that count? :D :D Every interstate in the country should be built just like I-40 (except for that fustercluck around Knoxville.......) Jeff
  23. I piecemealed my parts together over the course of time and saved a bunch of $$$$ (also didn't have access to a full XJ carcass). When I saw a part I needed for a good price, I bought it and stashed it away until I had everything I needed. Hence, my tranny is from an 86 XJ, the front axle is from a 87 XJ, the front driveshaft is from a 95 XJ, the TC came from an 89 XJ that had an AW4 attached to it (both free :D ). The rear DS is the only thing that you can't swap over from an XJ....mine's from another shortbed 87 MJ (but you can opt to have your 2WD one cut down if you want). I traded the AW4 for something, somewhere along the line.... Feel free to post up any questions. There's a ton of knowledge on this board. And welcome to the club! Jeff
  24. 37 but I act like a 21 year old :D Jeff

Mine came with 205's stock. I've got 235's on it now, but am picking up a set of 31" BFG's for $100 today after work I've got a set of stock spoke steelies that have been sitting under the deck for a year now, waiting for tires. Just gotta wire brush and rattle-can them, and mount 'em up. Jeff
