  1. No probs Kassidy - just trying to figure out what you meant. Alcan is a super outfit, and I spent a lot of time with Charles trying to figure out the exact weight I carried and amount of lift I was wanting with the new packs. But I opted to go with original 5-leaf Mopar/AMC Metric Ton designed springs for considerable less $$, and I'm very satisfied with this decision. I do not mind spending money to do things the right way after researching all options, and do not take shortcuts, like bastard leaf packs or AAL's. And this applies to everything IMHO; brakes, engines, etc. But you are right, Alcan is a high quality supplier, with super customer service and products.
  2. I don't either. Maybe some Worst Coast warped humor??
  3. You're a mind reader - that's exactly what I use it for since we don't get much fog down here. The one I used was from a Brit Mini Cooper.
  4. I used the XJ rear defroster switch to power up a rear fog light, which was optional equipment on European export XJ's. Don't use it much, but I hate to see an empty switch go to waste.
  5. Oops, typo, meant $420 plus shipping.
  6. Roger that. Alcan makes great quality springs, but for big $$. Last time I talked to Charles, a pair of lifted MJ springs was about $20 + shipping. With the rear almost 5" lower than the front, a pair of Rusty's 4" MJ lift springs shound level you out for lower $$. And yes, some pics would be nice.......
  7. Damn! I'm 19.5" in front and 20.5" in the rear w. a modest 2.5" - 3" lift from stock. Are you measuring from the center of the wheel center cap to the lower edge of the flare? If so, I sure would like to see a pic of your rig. What size tires do you have?
  8. Sounds like you have done everything in the rear w. the SOA and AAL. Your rear springs are probably shot/sagged out. New Metric Ton spring packs will net you 2" by themselves, but most likely your best bet is the Rusty's 4" new MJ rear leafs. Have not tried, but some are posting good results and a decent ride. Some pics would be nice. What is the actual measurements from the axle centers to the bottom of the flares front and rear?
  9. How are you measuring your 12 inches? From the upper rim lip to the bottom of the stock fender flare? You can't mean you have a 12" lift on the front, can you??
  10. 6" Leaves??
  11. When does the fuse blow? When you open or close, and which window? The power window circuit require a 20A fuse, make sure the correct fuse is in there. The switches can go bad, but rarely. Most likely your regulator motor is overloading because the window glass is binding in the window channels. Pull your door panels, disconnect the window from the regulator, and manually raise the windows up and down to check for binding. Also the bolt which connects through glass to the regulator has a plastic insulating washer on each side. If these are worn out, the window will bind. You can get the washers at the dealer cheap.
  12. Espo has had MJ springs back-ordered for about a year now. Metric Ton springs available here: New manufactured Metric Tonne leaf springs o Has the same specs as Jeep leaf spring part number 52003676 o Five leaf, three thinner top leafs and 2 heavier bottom leafs o 1500 # rating o 130 - 275 spring rate, 9-5/8" arch o 26" x 31" x 5-leaf, 2-1/2" wide You can order here: http://www.generalspringkc.com/leaf_spr ... eclub.html Call Joe, you might can haggle on the price.
  13. New 5-leaf rear leaf packs with the same specs as the original MJ Metric Tonne springs are available from several vendors. I netted almost 2-1/2" with these, and they ride nicely too.
  14. Ebay item #120084278096. You all like these things?
  15. Then you most likely have the aftermarket Genuine Steel bumper. These come up occasionally on Ebay.
  16. Here it is from the MJ parts manual: [/img]
  17. Same thing my local stealer told me. Then went online to Mopar Parts Direct, and gave them a selection of part numbers from my MJ manual. They located three chrome bumpers in some warehouse up in MN. Got the new chrome bumper w. brackets, end caps, license plate lights, and even the wiring harness for $185 shipped. There were several subtle changes in the rear step bumpers (and many other parts) throughout the MJ years, and different part numbers were assigned to each. ANY part number MJ rear bumper will fit all MJs, including the rare OEM rear tube bumpers. So if you need a list of the various part numbers available for an original rear bumper, let me know. Better yet I can provide you the complete MJ parts manual if you need. It really comes in handy at times.
  18. Original MJ rear bumpers are still available from the dealer in black or chrome. I bought a new chrome bumper a few months ago. If your insurance is going to pay for it, why not? Your dealer can tell you how much.
  19. Well, that's easy enough to do, but I would clean the pump connector contacts, then measure the voltage at the pump first. Could be just corrosion at the connector. Might save some $$.
  20. Did you put a meter on the hot wire and check for voltage when you trigger the washer from the column stalk? Or check the fuse?
  21. According to my handy MJ parts manual, stock alternators are as follows: 4 cylinder: 74A 6 cylinder: 100A V6: 78A Diesel: 70A I found a NOS 93-97 Denso G. Cherokee 120A alternator (from a Jeep delearship) on Ebay for $29. Same size as my 90A. Swapped the front pulley and the plastic tailpiece and it bolted right in. Good upgrade............
  22. Yes, it's very tough to find decent Laredo trim seats from a 2-door XJ. They just didn't make that many 2-doors. I like the bigger side bolsters on these seats - much more comfortable. Until I recently did find a good 2-door pair, I also used two passenger side seats from a 4-door. I found that the passenger seat did lean towards the door slightly using it on the drivers side, but was easily correctable by using a couple of shim washers on the two outboard mounting studs. But it sure is nicer now that I can flick the lever and move the seat back forward to access my junk. Car-Parts.com is a great source of parts.
  23. Jeeesh Pete, why don't you tell me how you really feel? :D Full size image sent - thanks Pete.
  24. Figured you would say that Jeff. :brows: Those chrome wheels were a bear to keep clean, and looks like I sold them for a bit more than the new wheels, so I'm happy.
  25. Just got my new takeoffs from a 2006 Wrangler installed, 15 x 8 wheels w. 30 x 9.5 x 15 GSA's. Looks like when they wear out I may have room for some 31s.
