  1. I looked it up in my parts manual and there is no difference in part numbers between XJ regulators for 2-doors and 4-doors. So I would ASSuME they are the same.
  2. Yeah Pong, from the past. But nothing's changed. We're all still driving the same junk. You have a problem with that??
  3. I guess it's because they are still in high demand for both MJ's and XJ's. These were not stellar products to begin with, and considering the age of our junk; most factory regulators (both manual and power) are either rusted out or on their last legs.
  4. The tailgate handle is only an example. I use the crap out of ebay and the JY's too. The point is check all sources. You might be able to find a new OEM part for less $$ than either of your sources. Though it rarely happens.
  5. Manual window regulators are waaaaaaaay overpriced, and used XJ regulators are mostly junque. I got sick of it and bought a pair of new Electric Life XJ front door power regulators for $150, picked up a set of window switches on Ebay for $10, and wired them in. Then sold the old manual regulators for $125 for the pair. Been going strong now for a couple of years, and so much better.
  6. Yes, so true. But maybe on 1 out of 25 parts they can surprise. Easy enough to run the part number on one of the known internet OEM suppliers.
  7. Some person, not wanting to use a derogatory term, just bought a "NOS" chrome tailgate handle on Ebay for about twice what he/she could have paid at the dealer. I've seen this time and time again, and I'll never understand. ALWAYS check the dealer/stealer first. Usually it's the latter, but occasionally they can surprise you.
  8. NAPA has these too. Just go to their site and do a keyword search for transmission oil cooler. I've got a bunch of clips and o-rings from them and a new pressure line too if you need. Which line is leaking, the pressure or return line?
  9. NAPA has them too, as well as complete replacement MJ/XJ AW4 tranny pressure and return coolant line assemblies.
  10. That would be great if some (or all) of the early ZJ console's additional functions worked w. my OBD-1. Won't hurt pulling one and doing some experimenting. Sounds like a win-win project.
  11. Good point Eagle. By old I meant 1996 and below; according to everything I've read Mopar changed the computer in 1997 and the console "advanced" functions like mileage will not work. The only problem I can foresee with the ZJ console is mounting the mounting bracket w/o pulling the headliner; just more added work. Heading to the yard Monday to check them out and do some measurements.
  12. Amazing it wasn't running hot with a clogged cat. Mine did on the old engine (after I replaced virtually everything in the cooling system). The cat was clogged at the inlet with thick gummy tar-looking crap. Put in a new stainless aftermarket cat and replaced the O2 sensor for the cure.
  13. One thing I'd recommend when replacing stats is to use an OEM part. They have a small bypass hole in the inner flange to allow some coolant flow even if it's stuck closed. Or you can always drill you own.
  14. Yeah, overestimated. Just went down and rechecked. More better if you cut about 10" off, that way you can still use the rear support XJ bracket. But you will still have the rear end opened up, not sloping back into the roof unless you fab some kind of end cap. Definitely can not use the rear set of lights.
  15. The long XJ console won't fit an MJ w/o cutting off about 16". That's why I'm looking at the smaller ZJ unit.
  16. Got that right Alex. When I put my stroker in it dropped from 21-22 MPG down to 16-17 MPG. But it's more fun now...........
  17. Yeah they do mileage, etc. but not compatible with our old ECu's so those features won't work. Just temp and compass.
  18. Anyone ever mounted one of the below in an MJ? Thinking this might be the way to go since the console would not have to be hacked in half for our cabs.
  19. Automan. Know who you mean now Alex. Missed those posts.
  20. AAAARGH. But you do have an 91 HO Eliminator 4WD model, and it's worth getting it right. Guess you mean the PO was Rob from AZ? Mine was a base model 2WD when I bought it from the original owner, a farmer in Southern VA a few years ago, garaged (barned) all it's life, with only 70K on the clock. Zero rust. Been picking at it since then, and I do show it occasionally, although that's not a real popular passtime down here. Well, I'll let you know how I make out on your parts, and will get back. BTW, there are several good LB MJ bodies at the yard I sent you, and NO, I am in no way affiliated with them. :D
  21. Will do. I know how hard it is fightin' rust with these things being originally from VT. Cut and patch, then cut and patch again a couple of years later. Major PITA.
  22. Lots of good beds and other MJ body parts there. When/if you need something, ask for Jason, tell him you know Comanche Don from Arab, and he'll jack the price up - - only kidding. Their prices are very reasonable.
  23. Just for your info, the "other" yard I'm mentioning is called Complete Auto Recyclers, in Brownsboro, AL. They can be contacted here: http://www.completeautorecyclers.com/ A lot of the guys drive MJ's and they never crush them. Most always 10-20 MJs there; many many XJs. Plus mostly NO RUST! Good outfit.
  24. Roger - will do. If not there, I'll check my other yard. Must be over a hundred XJs and 15 Mjs there.
  25. . Thanks. While I'm down to the yard tomorrow, I'll check if there's another XJ there w. the console for your bracket.
