  1. On another forum he stated that he had to cut down a tree to get it out. The unauthorized removal of vegetation WILL get trails shut down. That is NOT treading lightly and I don't think any mature wheeler should condone or defend this type of behavior. I have gotten myself into some really tight situations and had the wherewithal to use the R gear to backtrack and not make matters worse. Rant off.
  2. Wonder why they changed the number? Pic 3 is #40 and all the rest are #140. Also I wonder why it is LSR-2. Was there an LSR-1 previous to this one?
  3. ========== I can't believe there's no drooling smiley :rant:
  4. That's the front end I'm looking for for my '70. That is one sweet looking truck!
  5. Sweet! My son has a '39 "A" hand crank. I drove it today as a matter of fact...
  6. 1. I'm 46 going on 19. 2. I've lived in 8 states and love Idaho the best. 3. I've flown zero "G" with astronauts. 4. I love my wife and 2 sons. 5. I love my God and country.
  7. Sounds like a pretty good deal and plans. Allow me to say welcome and let me be the first to point out that you grill is upside down
  8. My 88 was doing the same thing and I had to replace the socket. I checked continuity and it was fine. I tried 4 different new bulbs and it would not work at all. So, I just pulled a known good one from a parts rig and spliced it in. I noticed that the other side had already been replaced.

Sorry. I'm on the other side of the state. But they are getting ready to open a Carquest right down the road.

Anywhere in Idaho is close to great wheeling. There is a fab shop in that area called CBI. Go by there and check in with those guys. Also there is a website for local wheelers you can post up on and get all kinds of info. http://www.planet4x4.net/ I also see that you're in Lenoir City. I moved here from Fayetteville, TN. 13 years ago.
  13. I am running them on my XJ with 6.5" lift and I like them. I don't know the collapsed/extended lengths on them but, I know they will work on your MJ. I have hammered mine pretty hard on the rocks and they are holding up well. Check the price from R/C direct or, even check on FleaBay. They sell them there all the time. One thing that I like about them is once you set the length, you don't lock them down with a jam nut. This allows them to rotate when articulating. They don't bind the suspension.
  14. TJ Rubicon 44 is a bolt in.
  15. Has the O2 sensor ever been replaced? I just replaced the ones on my '88 MJ and my '92 XJ and it cleared up stumbling issues on both vehicles.
  16. When we bought our property (30 acres) we designed a home that we wanted to build and live in till we died. We sent the plans out for bid and nearly had heart failure when the bids came in. We started to re-think what it was that we really wanted and we decided to look at manufactured homes. We went to a couple of facilities in Boise that build them and, took tours. We settled on a 2100sf home for less than 1/3 the price of the custom that we had designed. That allowed us to purchase the adjoining 30 acres. The way I figure it is that God quit making real estate a loooong time ago but, folks haven't quit overpopulating the earth. It's the ground that is worth the money in the future. Not so much the home on it. 4 years after we bought our place, we were offered 10X what we paid. You could call this my retirement account....So I say go for it.

    Chicks!

You call that a BIRD DOG????
  18. My old '87 XJ 4.0 did the same thing. It was the CPS going bad. Eventually it quit and that was that. Had to replace the CPS.
  19. Should be a pretty straight forward swap then I guess. Thanks
  20. So the '87 is AW4? I admittedly don't know about the auto's and have only been in the Jeep once but, the shifter only has 3,2,1. No indication of overdrive and, no O/D button anywhere that I saw.
  21. Both 4.0's
  22. A friend of mine has an '87 XJ and the trans is toast. I located an overdrive trans (AW4?) in a "92 XJ that is being parted out. The "87 has the 3 speed and the '92 has the overdrive. Are there any issues with the swap he needs to be concerned about? He is swapping the T/C also because of spline count and, the shifter. Both of mine are 5 speeds so, I am not in the know about the auto's. Thanks
  23. Champions are plugs that I won't ever use again along with NGK's. Years ago I built a pretty healthy small block Chevy and when I fired it up it had a terrible miss that I just couldn't get rid of. Turns out I had 4 bad plugs out of the box. I am working on Bosch plugs now. I bantered back and forth with the NGK rep and sent him these pics and he said it wasn't a bad plug, it's a bad engine. He told me that I had excessive combustion temps. Told me that I had temps above 1,000 C. I'm really thinking that if that were the case, my engine would be a molten puddle..... I'll just keep this one as a trophy. It is a testament to the 4.0 though. It never missed a beat till the plug melted past the seat and the gasses were pushed out the spark plug hole and burnt the plug wire in two. Didn't even mess up the threads in the head.
  24. Your hypothesis is totally wrong. If you look at the first pic, you can see a crack in the ceramic. It was arcing through the crack to the body of the plug, not the electrode. It was a faulty plug from the factory. The electrode and missing body parts must have passed through the exhaust. Engine had no damage. There was a piece that was stuck in the valve but, Seafoam cleaned that out.
  25. Toyota had a 5 lug pattern??? I thought they where all 6 lug.... 2wd models are 5x4.5
