I have already backed out my stops so my tires(35's) don't rub. I really don't want to back them out anymore and lose even more turn radius. I may take it out and put a small bend in the tie rod end in a press.
-
So, I'm installing the JCR UTK steering system and Have an issue. The tie rod hits the lower tracbar bolt long before I get to full right turn. I shaved about 1/2 the head off the bolt but, still hits. The tierod is new and straight. There is no for/aft adjustment. Anybody else running this and have issues? How'd you fix it?

Mine's Dirt Devil. Works for me.

How many miles? Have you changed the O2 sensor? I had wierd problems kinda like yours and it turned out to be the sensor. Gremlins are a pain.... :fs1:

Idiot Guages - got to replace
IDXJ replied to hogelectra's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In your write up(which is great) you reset the odometer on the replacement gauge after pulling it. I believe that is illegal about everywhere. Why didn't you just swap the speedo with the one you removed from the truck? I just did this swap and the repacement cluster had like 75k more miles on it. I just swapped in the old speedo. -
Yeah, the big gauge worked fine. I was also thinking it might be a bad gauge. I'll try the local JY. Thanks guys.

Do the sending units interchange? I have a parts Chero. here that I can pull one from.

I just did a gauge cluster swap on my '88 Comanche. The original cluster had gauges, not idiot lights. Just didn't have a tach. I got a cluster from an '87 Cherokee with gauges and a tach. Eveything works fine except the fuel gauge. The replacement gauge reads 1/2 tank when I fill it up. My question is: do the XJ's and MJ's use different gauges? Thanks.

Don't be too jealous. this was about 3 weeks ago. For reference, the CJ has 36's on it.

Looks like a pair of sheet metal shears or a cutoff wheel could make that mod. Hey! Easy there Lucky.... My XJ is my wheeler. My MJ is my driver.

My son's girlfriend had this made for me for Christmas. It's 19"x18" and cut from 10 ga. steel. Way cool!

You're gonna have a real bad exhaust leak too if you don't replace that muffler bearing.

Replacing 2 piece front axle shaft?
IDXJ replied to IDXJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the links. I can see no reason to put the outer seal in. The one piece axle diameter is quite a bit smaller than the sealing area on the old shaft so, it won't do anything. -

Replacing 2 piece front axle shaft?

I am going to replace the 2 piece shaft on my '88 and other than the shaft itself all I will need is a new inner seal correct? Anyone done this? I guess that both sides would use the same seal too? TIA. Dave -

But, I think they are 5x5 bolt pattern. :???: -

Ever since I put the 2-low kit in my XJ, I've not liked the shifter. When I'm wheeling I find that I am in and out of 2-low and 4-low a lot. I did not like the bend in the shifter that makes the handle horizontal in 2-high. When shifting the AX15 and the T/C I wanted the handles closer together. So, I removed the T/C shifter and cut the handle portion off. Then I welded a 3/8" bolt to the end that I had just cut. Ground the head of the bolt down for aesthetic purposes and painted the shifter. Re-installed it and put a new shifter handle on. Now it is within easy reach when wheeling. I really like this mod.

Well, I went looking for the original post over at NAXJA and it has been deleted. The boys over there got extremely wound up so, it got shut down. Sorry I can't get you bigpimpinben's (multipurposemj)story that included cutting the tree down.
