I figured I'd put a bunch of questions on here rather than making separate threads so it would be easier for me and others to find this information. So I anyone has awnsers pertaining to all this, that would be great! So here it goes. 1. What is the benefit of doing a SYE (slip yoke eliminator) for a NP231? I've heard of it being stronger and helping when lifting you're jeep, but wonder if there are any other benefits? 2. Would would be a better gear ratio to run in a 86 2.5 with a AX-5 with a 3 in lift and 31in tires, 4:56 or 4:88? Mainly would be highway driving and in town. (I live in MO to so there are a lot of hills) 3. If doing a 93 MPI 2.5 swap from a 93 wrangler, does the fuel pump need to be changed to that year model of pump due to it being higher pressure? 4. Anyone know of a good winch for a budget? (Not a piece of crap one but a good tough winch for a good price) 5. Any good recommendations for Bedliner? ( Updates from those who have had Bedliner on theirs and how well it has held up for however long) 6. Will the transmission shifter from a 93 wrangler work on a Comanche even though it's longer? (Have one laying around and was just curious, probably wouldn't do it) 7. Does anyone know where in the heck you can find a new 10 slot grill? Looked everywhere and only find 8 slots. Rock auto had 10 slots, but says they don't anymore. 8. Does anyone have pictures of their on board air systems? Seen people set up in a Cherokee, but not very often in a Comanche. 9. I've asked way to many questions haven't I? 10. Kind of just one of those what if things, but has anyone ever added some boost to a 2.5 and good results? No 4.0 just wonder if someone decided to be the black jeep of the family and boost there 2.5 instead of a 4.0 just to be, well ya know difrent from the other 4.0 jeeps. 11. Has only one ever put the older door panels on 97+ doors? 12. I'm kidding I'm done with the questions. I know if there is one place to go when I have questions its here because you guys have helped me understand this truck for the past 4 and 1/2 years. Any ideas, opinions, (except for swapping In a 4.0 lol) would be greatly appreciated. Everyone has helped me out so much, so thank you to everyone on here!

Steering Questions.
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Awesome guys! Thank you for the much needed info! I'll defiantly try the ZJ tie rod and ends. After my wreck I definitely need some steering upgrades. I'm surprised I didn't break any steering componets from it. But somehow snapped my axle. -
Are steering components on the front of a 2 wheel drive axle the same as a D30? I'm going to be swapping in and doing a 4x4 conversion once I rebuild the front axle and componets. But for a while I have to run it with my dummy axle once I get it back from the frame straightener. I need to replace all of the front steering componets but don't want to purchase 2 wheel drive components, when I'm going to be swapping in a D30 eventually. Any info on it all is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Tail light Seperation?
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've searched though to see if I could find a write up. Didn't see anything. I've seen people heating them up, it scares me because I'm heating up 30 year old plastic. Is it just a plastic weld that is holding the 2 peices together? -
Has any one ever separated the lense from the housing? I'd like to see if anyone has done it. The reverse lense is yellow instead of white. Wanna get in there and clean it up. Anyone have any advice?

No Dash Lights or Tail lights
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got it fixed. Turned out to be a loose wire and 2 fuses that seemed fine until tested. Now to just figure out why the power outlet doesn't want to work...... -

So I replaced the headlight switch. Still nothing. Checked connectors and refreshed my grounds and I still have nothing. -
No Dash Lights or Tail lights
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The cups in the clutch master cylinder failed. Wasn't leaking too bad. Ill check the box again. Do you have any wiring diagrams for the lights/Under dash wiring? -
86 Comanche 2.5. When I replaced the clutch master cylinder a couple of weeks ago, the rear tail lights no longer work. Brake lights and turn signals still work, but no rear lights when the headlights are on. Also the gauge lights don't want to work. The lights for the Coolant and oil pressure and everything still work. Just not the backlighting. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Trying to get some ideas of what all kinds of things people have done to there toppers to haul there gear. Thought about putting a cargo rack and off road lights on it. I plan on making a removable bed for sleeping in it. Pics would be nice if anybody finds or has any thing thats cool. Thanks for the help and ideas.

Having problems trying to find a complete clutch hydraulic hose for an 86 2.5 with an AX-4. I can't find one at parts stores or online. But however they do have a hose for an 87, but isnt an 87 internal slave? Or will the hose still connect? Thanks

Project "Black Betty"
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
It truly is my Comanche's twin sister! Ravine rims, BFG tires, black 86, and I even got the EXACT same color of camper shell and model as yours. (even though I just painted it black) but it was the same color of white. I have to see this in person one of these days. -
Is This A Metric Ton Badge?
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to lamart72's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Looks to me like an 86 XLS, as for the badge on the back, I bet it is command trac badge. That's what it looks like. -

They have an app for that too, I had it downloaded, but there aren't many Comanches in JYs round me.

Where abouts are you in missouri? There might be a few in a salvage yard in Springfield.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. How ever I have been working on the car. I have an extra 304 that I have taken apart and am getting ready to get back together, ill get pics up soon. I am currently trying to get a 4 barrel intake manifold for it. Other than that, all I have to do is turn the crank and get new bearings and piston rings. I'm trying to see if I can get a quarter panel to fix one side. I've got doors, hood, and fenders I'm doing bodywork on. I'll be taking the steering wheel off soon. I'll try to tell you guys if I do something with it. An where in the world can you get a high rise, or dual carb manifold? -
Tin Sheild Bhind Front Rotor
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to sinkrun's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They are also essential for brake cooling. May sound odd, but they direct air onto the vents helping cool the brake rotors down. -
I knew fiat was going to do some bad changes to jeep.
