Crank Turning Price

I would take an AMC V-8 over a LS engine any day. Plus it would be wrong putting it in a AMC car. -
Crank Turning Price
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
don't plan on making a Stroker, I have a 401 that I am going to build up. This 304 is only going to be mild performance, for cruising mostly. Thanks for the price estimate, its what I was thinking it was somewhere in that ballpark. -
Does anyone know how much it (on average) would cost to turn a crank? Its an 72 AMC 304, where #1 would go, there is a slight intention like something hit it. If I end up having to have the crank turned, I was wondering what a good estimate would be. Thanks in advance.

Rockauto is amazing. There are a lot of parts for my, and my friends vehicles that you can't really find any where else.

How Bad Is The Ax5? Seriously?
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to benjy_26's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The AX5 is not a bad transmission. They are actually pretty tough little transmissions. What you are wanting to do is almost the exact same thing I want to do, MPFI 2.5 and a AX5. The MPFI 2.5 isn't going to be putting out too much more power and torque than a TBI 2.5. You should be just fine. But it all depends on what you want to do, and what all you are going to do with it. -
Guess things like this happen when you are bored and have a lot of time to think. What are some of your guys worst mechanical failures on your vehicles? I'll start even though mine is probably not the worst. I was on my way home from Walmart one day, and at a stop light, I felt something fly off in the engine compartment, battery light came on and power steering went out. Most people would probably pull over and check it out. I decided to go home. Drove it 1 to 1 1/2 miles home, popped the hood, and the belt was missing water pump pulley was shattered. Didn't leave me on the side of the road though, and never has. Interested to see what has happened to others. .

Probably would be a good thing to do. Looks like there are no shocks, bet that would be a rough ride.

Honestly, it looks like they tried making a homemade control arm system for the rear axle. Not for sure though, but it would be my best guess.

Rev's '88 Sportruck

Its probably one of the best sounds is an engine that needs work firing up after hard work done to it. Thought it was funny with the guy on stand by with the fire extinguisher. Better safe than sorry! Truck looks amazing, have fun enjoying it! -
1990 2.5 No Start When Cold
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to xjrev10's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Is there fuel injection into the throttle body when cold? Is there spark too? If not then it could be compression, my friends car just lost almost all the compression and it is a pain to start, unless warmed up. Might be wise to do a compression test in the cylinders. -
1990 2.5 No Start When Cold
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to xjrev10's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The battery could be low enough to not completely power the fuel pump. My truck almost does the same thing. Takes a bit when cold to actually get running and idle. -

Do you have straight anti freeze in it or a mix? -
That bass hanging on the string is awesome. Love the truck, what are your plans for it? Trail rig? Daily driver? Weekend Driver? Have fun with it and welcome to the club!

Signs Of Power Steering Going Out?
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I haven't seen many people modify pumps to fit. I would go with a new one, that has a warranty. The reason being, I bought a new pump, then about 3 months later it went out. And it had a 1 year warranty. There might be some with a lifetime warranty. Unless you had to, I would not go with one from a JY -
Trailer Light Harness
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Where do they sell that at? Thanks -
Has anyone made the harness and connector for a trailers lights? To where they got it to connect to a Comanche that did not come with it? Going to be hauling stuff and in MO it is required to have working lights on the trailer. Thanks in advance!

What kind of 2.5 is that housing off of? I haven't seen one that has the place for the temp sensor -
Signs Of Power Steering Going Out?
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My old power steering pump was squeaking really bad, and at times it would be hard to turn the wheel. -
Welcome to the club! Your Comanche looks like a great start! As for the 93 parts Cherokee, everything should work as long as the front axle has the same ratio as your rear axle. I'm not quite sure about the Speedo cable, I think it should as long as it has the same T-case Being it a 93, it might be electronic, and not a cable. Not for sure what year they changed it.

 Really like how you put the dash in the MJ, something I have never seen. I see you support the Empire. I have the rebels emblem on my MJ. -
Figured out that I will have a ride, won't be wheeling the MJ, but I will be riding in a YJ, the MJ will still be up there. I'll try to say hi to all of you if I get the chance or find you. Lol

4.2 would be a good choice. Even if you didn't want a 4.0 or 4.2, at least go with a 2.5. Its going to have more power than that 2.8
