good fitting carpet or vinyl floor kit
ratrapp replied to ratrapp's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i may give acc a try.the vinyl floor mat they sent me is almost universal.it was way too long plus it came with a grommet to go in the floor for vehicles with floor mounted dimmers.I'm pretty sure the mj never came with a floor mounted dimmer. -
I'm finally finishing the interior up in my 86 to pass onto my nephew for his first vehicle.i originally purchased a vinyl flooring kit for it from rockauto a while back.the truck had come factory with the vinyl mat as its a low optioned truck.the mat they sent was supposed to be molded but it is just a completely flat mat.ive had it too long to send back and have heard horror stories about acc carpets.I'm leaning towards just putting regular carpet in it if i could find something i know fits.any suggestions on a good vendor?

trouble bleeding the front brakes

dumb question but are your bleeder valves pointed up?if the bleeder screw is pointed down you'll never get it to bleed. -
found one on ebay, hopefully it works

Heater core recommendations
ratrapp replied to Elwiscon's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
knock on wood but i havent had any of the spectra brands leak prematurely in the last 20 plus years.they will all eventually go bad because quality is a thing of the past anymore.what might have been a great brand 10 years ago isnt good anymore.i can't tell you how crappy moog parts have got. -
Heater core recommendations

i own a repair shop.ive found the spectra brand seems to fit the heater boxs better than most.you would be surprised how many heater cores simply won't fit in the hvac box.napa used to use spectra for there heater cores but they changed brands when covid hit a couple years ago and now whatever brand they use doesnt fit the same. -

i would be selling the LJ. -
the words quality and cheap usually don't go well together.but on the other hand expensive doesnt mean quality anymore.

Exhaust rebuild on 86 XLS 2.8L V6
ratrapp replied to DzienManche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i seriously doubt the aftermarket will jump on the 2.8 y pipe bandwagon.i own a 2.8 and thankfully my y pipe is in great shape but for the few 86 mj s that are left it wouldnt be cost effective to produce and sell.i just bought the key parts floor brace kit that was released.look at all the owners that have asked for these pieces to be made but i doubt that most will actually buy them. -
Looking into upgrading stock carb

good luck finding a 4 barrel intake for the 2.8.i got a weber kit and it works okay but i havent really had time to fine tune it. -
Noob Installs a Manifold Gasket . . .
ratrapp replied to NC Tom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ive seen 4.0 engine and trans mounts so bad that the hanger for the exhaust is touching the crossmember. If theyre bad just use regular rubber mounts. If you don't want vibrations then above all else don't use the brown dog urethane mounts.I put a set on my old 88 mj and i couldnt stand it.Ive had solid mounts in race cars that didnt vibrate that bad. -

possible motor mounts or tranny mount can make it vibrate at idle . -
