  2. Yeah, this ain't a scam....... https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/5518420837.html
  3. Again, unless you're gonna post a copy/paste from Colorado Emissions Program rules and regulations that specifically states that an EGR isn't required....... The public website for Colorado Air Care shows this in regards to when a vehicle fails the equipment inspection: Emissions control equipment are either missing or not functioning properly, e.g.: Catalytic converter(s). Air injection system. Oxygen sensor(s). Gas cap(s). Notice the "e.g.:" as in "for example" Those are equipment items commonly cited for failure of an emissions test. The requirement is simply that the tested vehicle must have it's entire emissions system (as equipped by the manufacturer) intact and functioning in order to pass. From personal experience, I've had 2 Renix era XJ's failed before the exhaust was tested - they wouldn't allow those XJ's to finish testing until the EGR's were fixed (one was missing with a block off plate, the other was in place but the vacuum lines and air relay system were missing.) HOWEVER..... I've also taken other Renix era XJ/MJ's to the same testing station and the techs never lifted the hood to inspect ANY of the emissions equipment. So the best answers: Yes, you can pass a Colorado Air Care emissions test with a missing/non-functional EGR and possibly any other emissions related equipment....... IF the tech isn't looking for them. No, you cannot pass a Colorado Air Care emissions test....... IF the tech finds missing/non-functional emissions related equipment. No, you cannot pass a Colorado Air Care emissions test......IF you have a lit check engine light. Yes, you can pass a Colorado Air Care emissions test.......IF you covered your lit check engine light with black electrical tape AND the check engine light isn't accompanied by an OBD II engine code. Clear as mud? :D
  4. I didn't even stand a chance. Gone an hour after posting. Lol
  5. I'm gonna try to snatch that one.... My dad lives 45 min away in Naples. Gonna have him go look it over.
  6. One of our NAXJA guys had a bad day when he had a brain-dead moment and went to remove his rear driveshaft in the inclined driveway at his house. No e-brake set, no wheel chocks. He removed one pair of yoke strap bolts, removed one of the second pair and the driveshaft twisted out of the yoke with him under the jeep. He said he tried to roll out of the way of the fast approaching front tire but couldn't and used his arm against the tire to try to stop it. His arm became a wheel chock...... it stopped the roll of the tire, but his arm skidded down several feet of the driveway. You all said this thread is worthless without pics so............ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Friggin' ouch.
  7. If you get stopped, have a good "story" as to why your vehicle is registered outside of the county your driver's license shows. Nitpicky cops, particularly Colorado State Patrol will have no problem writing that expensive ticket. It is also possible to lose your driver's license for perjury on an official document........ The test parameters the Comanche will be subject to are pretty "forgiving" but yeah, high NOX particularly up at our altitude is the most common failure reason. Generally speaking, the larger the cat, the more surface area the grid material will have and will catalyze more efficiently. With that said, I've had stock Jeep cats fail and replaced them with the smaller ones from Summit Racing (I think the one I bought was by Magnaflow) and it passed with flying colors. As I understand it, when you go in for your first e-test with your out-of-state vehicle (you'll still be displaying MN plates) that's supposed to trigger the emissions techs to pay close attention to emissions equipment. Particularly on the non OBD II cars as the connection to the computer generally rats you off about what components aren't connected/missing. My understanding is that the pre-test inspection is supposed to happen EVERY time a car comes in, but I've had several of my vehicles go through without even a mirror run under the car to look at the exhaust, and without the hood ever raised. Dunno.
  8. The dune buggy won't require any physical inspection regarding the body, modifications etc. All you'll need to do is get it to pass emissions for a '74 Beetle. The Colorado Air Care minions don't inspect vehicles beyond emissions law requirements. There are no "roadworthyness" inspections for vehicles in Colorado unless they've been hand made, repaired from a collision previously deemed totaled or salvage. All the DMV will see regarding your buggy's paperwork is that you're going to register a '74 Beetle. I believe we in Law Enforcement can submit a vehicle for mandatory roadworthyness inspection if we see a vehicle altered dangerously, but there are lots of Manx buggies running around out here and unless stuff is falling off or flapping in the wind or causes the buggy to be obviously unsafe to operate...... no one will give it a second glance. Your trailer should be a simple title change and registration then since it has a VIN on the title and tongue.
  9. Good lord that's a lot of reading with no real direct or specific questions.......... :laughin: From what I read, here's maybe some answers............ ? -Focus, Cherokee, Comanche should all be fine at the Colorado Air Care test centers as long as all factory emissions equipment are in place and un-modified. Catalytic converters, EGR, Evap Canister, gas filler restriction (opening and flap) intact.... etc. Exhaust system needs to have no holes/rot/leaks. So yeah, the Cherokee and Comanche will need cats installed and the Cherokee's O2 sensors will need to be in bungs and functional. The Beetle will likely just need a tailpipe sniff test which can be done at independent test stations or at Colorado Air Care stations. The VW buggy WILL NOT qualify as a kit car. In Colorado, a kit car comes with paperwork you submit at the time the build is complete and roadworthy when you take the car to the State Inspections Office to get it's kit car vin plate. Since the base of the buggy was a VW it will need to be registered as such. Essentially, if it ever had a VIN prior to being built/modified, it will have to keep using that VIN. It should only need the tail pipe sniff test. The trailer will be a piece of cake as long as it has a trailer VIN assigned on the title and stamped on the tongue. If not, simple paperwork can be done to get a Colorado trailer VIN assigned but I'm fairly certain that if MN didn't require a stamped or sticker plate VIN, Colorado will likely supply one at the time you register it.
  10. Jim, If you're looking to start liquidating the MJ's and stuff you've been collecting, please do put out a post with a list. We'll all be happy to help get those things moved on to other MJ folks. A friend in the 'Springs is looking for a short bed box, doesn't need tail gate or tail lights. If you have one you wanna move, I can get you guys in contact.
  11. Ok, I need to see how a rear XJ seat was made to work in an MJ........ pics please. I have 3 bench seats here in Colorado....... wish I could get one to ya.......
  12. I like the engine mail box! Not a real fan of the crushed dart tables..... I guess he wanted them to look like one of those crushed car blocks? Seemed like way too much work. But I respect his vision!
  13. Interesting.......Dodge Dakota tail lights.....upside down.
  14. And It's now in the hands of a guy who builds rat rods. Should be interesting when it's built and running! Oh, and the tow rig got a bit of a personality change......... 2.5" leveling kit, 325/65/18 Duratracs, Fuel D558 Anza wheels 18x9 +20 offset. :D
  15. Wow....... that wheel looks out of the box new! NICE.
  16. It's just SOOOO pretty!
  17. Recently sold a '48 Ford Tudor Deluxe that I harvested from a Nebraska barn to a guy into rat rods. He needed a post to mount his mail box to. I like it. :D Anyone here make these kinds of things? Seen anything out there that is just plain cool?
  18. 2014 Dakar concept. 33" 17's on 2" lift and funky "wider" flares.
  19. Damn Zeb, that's kind of a douchebag thing to post....... The jeep IS the roof over his head at the moment and he's clearly stated his situation is temporary and looking up. He needs support, not a scolding.
  20. Yeah 8 nuts/bolts (some are studs, some are bolts) that run through the uni-frame from underneath. The e-brake cables and brackets will need to be unbolted and can just hang loose. The spare tire winch assembly will need to be unbolted and removed. The wiring for fuel system and lights connects to both the bed and uni-frame so chase the harness back and separate it from the bed, then remove the tail lights and pull the harness/bulbs down and out of the bed. The fuel tank strap bolts connect to the bottom of the bed - these can be a pain. If they aren't rusted and break, it takes a long time to turn the nuts down the long bolts. The fuel tank can stay in place, but should be propped up with a jack stand or such to give it support. Fuel filler hoses will need to be removed - either at the filler neck or at the tank tubes. Be careful with these as there are no replacements available at the parts stores. Even if the truck isn't real rusty, I'd recommend pre-spraying/soaking the bed nuts/bolts and tank strap bolts with PB Blaster or the like. The studs on the bed can break fairly easily and they're a pain to replace. I've been able to lift off both long and short beds with a buddy and I, but you may want to consider making yourself an "H" cross brace to put under the bed rails and lift it off with good sized engine hoist or gantry. Hope all that helps! Myself and a buddy went to a junk yard and harvested these two beds in just under 2 hrs. Wasn't fun, but wasn't as bad as anticipated.
  21. I hope you get the gig. It REALLY upsets me to see so many vets struggling out there. So many stories of the VA and other supposed veteran support agencies failing our vets. May I make a suggestion? Look up OathKeepers.org. Join up and look at networking with other members in your area to help secure a job and possibly other avenues for housing and such. Lots of good Vets in that organization willing to help and/or have some good advice or direction for ya. Many of them are business owners who look to employ vets.
  22. Friggin' photobucket was down for HOURS after I posted, here's a few: Recently, I've begun collecting Movie Cars. Just arrived - 1/18 Christine movie cars. One made by Ertl "Night Scene" car with high beams. The other is a custom one-off made by an Ebay seller to capture the "For Sale" scene. Amazing detail on this one. Some of my "pristine" Tonka, Nylint and Buddy L pressed steel: I made these borrowing parts from other die-cast cars. The red one is a Nylint with the engine and tires/wheels from one of those exaggerated Muscle Machines cars. Nylint with some odd blower/intake on it's original engine and Buddy L wheels: We're doing some renovation and "re-organization" so I've had to pile up my collection until that's done. THEN I'll tackle making a decent wall of display cases and shelving to properly house my collection....... Image Not Found Couldn't help myself with a "big" pressed steel addition...... a stupid-clean, unrestored, late '60's AMF "Jet Sweep" with an equally stupid-clean U-haul trailer hitched to it. Left in an attic since the mid to late 70's when the guy's twin girls out grew it. It was priced way to low to NOT snatch it up...... Hopefully I don't run into many more of these kinds of deals..... they take up ALOT of real estate...... :D Posted this one a while back here: http://comancheclub.com/topic/44366-anyone-into-pedal-cars/
  23. Gawd...... what DON'T I collect...... Besides an abnormal amount of MJ paraphernalia, advertising, parts and an assortment of MJ's (down to 3 from 11 total as of a year and a half ago......) I'm into 1/24 & 1/18 Die Cast cars of all sorts - Ertl and the like. I like making "unrestored" versions or buying ones already done by those with better skills than myself. Franklin and Danbury Mint 1/24 scale cars Pressed steel cars and trucks from the '40's to the '70's - Tonka, Structo, Buddy L, Wyandotte, Marx, etc. Mostly the era of white wall tire versions. I've got probably 400+ in my collection and currently looking at building a better display area in the basement. It's an illness....... :D
  24. WHAT?!?!?!? There's more than just one? Great....... Now I'm gonna waste even MORE time searching and hoping. I REALLY need to find that Archer Jeep pin....... :wall:
  25. First saw one of these back in March of 2013 and have been searching ever since - but I was able to finally find and buy one of these elusive Stroh's Comanche hat pins! Anyone else been able to find one themselves?
