  1. I know on my 2.5L its on the top of the bellhousing. Should the same on the 4.0L
  2. Check for spark. Make sure there is fuel pressure comming from the pump. Id check the relays. If they are going bad it could do that.
  3. Put an ohm meter on your TPS to. It may have a dead spot. My 2.5 was like that. Under real light throttle like 5-10% it had a dead spot. Computer didnt know what to do.
  4. For my oil In my 00 4.0 I run the castrol full syn in a 10w-30. (10w meaning the viscosity of the oil was tested at 0deg F. Had a viscosity reading of 10.) (30 being that the oil was tested at 190 deg F and had a viscosity reading of 30.) In my 86 comanche I run the 15w-40 rotella because of the zinc.
  5. Exactly as tittle says. I'm looking for a tunneau cover for my 86 longbed comanche. Please let me know if you have one forsale or know of where to get one. I am located at school in western ohio and at home in central NH.
  6. I hear ya with the parking man. Same at my school.
  7. It will go in with some work. Thats what I have in the front of mine. If you want to keep the factory front suspention with coils and links you will need to fab up some mounts or buy some as I did. Aslong as it is not a wide track the width is perfect and you also have to make sure it is drivers side drop for the dif. Some of the waggys came with both. And just remember that the waggys are a 6 lug not a 5x4.5. Hope that hels you.
  8. Thanks guys I realy appreciate it! I picked up my 3800 today! $400 with complete motor harnes computer and guage cluster off of a buddy. Lookin for a wcT5 now. ivwe found em pretty cheap just have to wait for the next paycheck  One question though is how you did your motor mounts? Did you just make a crosmember for the front where the factory one was? Or did you use the damper mounts on the side?
  9. Hey guys thanks! Thats perfect. I picked up my 3800 today. Planning on this for a winter project. Did a compression test on my 2.5 today at school and it read about 60psi in every cylinder. So its time for a swap. And sorry but I have been through enough of the beloved 9"s that I have lost what little faith I had in ford stuff.
  10. haha I do have an 86. But I was planning on putting in a custom 3 core radiator anyway to make sure the 3800 stays cool. Hmm and I'm glad to here about the ax5 mine already needs a rebuild. How about an auto? is there and automatic that would work for this? My truck doesnt see a whole lot of street and if it does its mostly just around town. Only has 78,000 on it. It mostly gets trailerd to the trails and back more than it gets drivin there.
  11. So i've done a bit of researching and have kind of been able to come up with a conclution. my question is if anyone knows if the Ax-15 or ax-5 tranny or even the autos will fit a 3.8L v6 out of a pontiac. I can get a hold of a rebuilt 3.8L supercharged farely easly and am looking to replace my very tired 2.5 in my 86. Any feed back would be great.
  12. This is a bit off subject but just out of curiosity where are you going to school?
  13. I know! i wish i wasn't in college and had money! Would make a great daily drive on some 33's!

  15. I love mine i couldnt go without it now. I know with mine and my dads we can take the actual like deck peice that controls everything and move it from the unit in my truck and bring it inside to a boom box. My dad actauly has mounting kits in 3 of his trucks ( 2 work trucks and his DD) and he just moves the radio peice backand forth between what hes driving and the boom box he has in the garage. its a great investment!
  16. herd we got about 7"s back home in NH yesturday. also had a little snow here in Ohio but it didnt accumulate to anything
  17. For me some kind of positive insentive always worked so much more. granted sometime you do need to be stern but what realy worked for me was if I did well then he would help me work or modify my truck. Or this past winter as long as my grades were over a B he would let me use his truck to haul my sled around to go ridding. Things like that always worked better. They actualy made want to do better to get not just the good grades but also the extra satifaction that i had worked for something other than a "good job". It dosent have to cost money or keep you from your life just something that will make them glad to strive forward and not something that makes them affraid to fail.
  18. I am wi the origional host. I to am in school and have had the same issues. I actualy have been "yelled at" (for lack of a better word) because of the same things. My teachers have not always been the fastest at getting the grades in and most of the time my dad will understand. but I also have gotten things such as my truck and snowmobile taken away for having bad grades. bad being a C sometimes. but now I am in college and i can't understand why a little bit more but some parents realy need to find other ways to get their point across instead of threats and itimidation.
  19. Everything will swap over fine. My 86 has a 94 2.5 in it now.
  20. I run their upper control arms on my truck with about 9"s of lift and i love them. They do take a couple weeks to get to you just beacuse he does make them once you order them. But i had actualy folded my origional upper control arms and i have not had any proablems with the new ones. I actualy got a little bit more flew with these
  21. Ive got an 86 2.5 5spd 35's with 4.56 gears and on highway I'm getting about 20mpg to 22mpg. I have no idea how
  22. Good luck with the hand man ive been in the same spot its not cool. Good luck with the paint also. I painted mine and with all the comments you get on how everyone loves it makes it well worth all the work.
  23. Are they lockrights? If they are you have proably broken the pins that hold the two half's together. It will lock turning one way especialy on the street beacuse the pins will get stuck and bind one way and not the other beacuse the two halfs will just slip by them that way.
  24. I went to the bushwacker site and got the specs on how they want you to cut them and cut them to their specs. You can still trim the stock flairs to fit over the opening as i did. Also if you do it that way and realy screw it up you can find some used bushwacker cutouts to hide it!
  25. Axles my me at the pick and pull yard are $50 no matter what it is. We got my rear 9" and front 44 for $100. also got by dads single wheel 60's from there. $50 each
