Haha. Danny and Arnold. That's classic! Nice trucks too. "And the crap that was left over is what you see in the mirror every morning."

Top notch Ryan. So jealous! -
No, but you can use a front Dana 30 from a ZJ.

Man, I'm glad I wasn't the only one geeking about this.

86mj to 97xj front end swap
Backdraft replied to duster1971's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This thread from mfpdm may help you some. He put a 97+ nose on an 86 with the 2.5 like yours. As stated in another thread, 87 and up is bolt on. There is some trimming to be done with the 86. And no, you don't need the doors. Your doors will work just fine. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10077&hilit=wrenches+gone+mild&start=15 Hope it helps  -
We also made some more forward progress.

Considering I stole his switch panel with the fog light switch, I had to replace his. Some tow hooks I found on a ZJ. Need some XJ brackets now. And a small change from this craptastic wheel To this one, plus cruise control

Are you going to keep the drums on the 8.25 or swap to KJ discs? -
Hear hear, Jay. I lost my dad 6 years ago in an accident. I cherish every lazy little chat we ever had. I'm thankful for all the advice and guidance I ever recieved. Our last father/son vacation was to Moab for some rock crawling. And not a day goes by that I don't miss him. And I also blame him for my addiction. He taught me to drive in a 1947 Willys and bought me a 1986 Comanche when I turned 16!!

Harmonic balancer going south?

This particular one I found on eBay. LKQ also lists some on eBay from time to time. However, the prices they want are pretty steep. Here are a few that are currently listed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lightbar-2002-2 ... 91&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-Jeep-Liber ... 3c&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-Jeep-Liber ... 04&vxp=mtr If you have any good yards near you, you may get lucky. I'm currently on the hunt for a liberty in one of my local yards to pull the rear disc brakes.

Its still a win in my book.

Go for it. I'd slap a 242 in in a heartbeat if it wasn't seeing severe duty. Simply because it offers a full time option. BTW......your thread title was misleading!

rear axle upgrade and front lift...
Backdraft replied to paully's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
First off, congratulations on the MJ and welcome to the club. Beer is in the fridge. To take a crack at answering your questions, well...... Vehicles for a donor axle I would look for would be another Comanche. That would be the easyishest (is that a word?). I'd also look for an XJ rear 8.25 29 spline. Fairly easy to adapt and 3.55 is the most common ratio. An Explorer 8.8 is also an option and you gain rear discs as well. Driveshafts will be interchangeable from another MJ if its the same as yours (swb/lwb/d35/d44/etc). Driveshafts are different lenghts for an XJ. But you may be able to use yours. The 8.8 has a mounting flange instead of a yoke IIRC. Of course if you go SOA, its all a wash anyway and you most likely will need your driveshaft reworked. And the numbers on your current ring gear, the 43 14. Divide those numbers and you get 3.07. There's your current gearing. As for concern #2. The "couple inches" gained from SOA is more like 5 to 6.5 inches. There really is no economical way to negotiate a lift for the front to match. Everything will need to be changed in order to do it right and safe. That includes springs, shocks, swaybar links, trackbar, control arms, brake lines, etc. don't forget if you change the rear gearing, the front needs to change to match. And at that height, my opinion will be drop brackets or long arms. Without one of these, the ride quality is going to suck. Hope that helps, and good luck. -
Not too sure about that. I haven't researched it. I do know they are Hella lights, but from what I understand they are an uncommon /special size. Not sure if they're are any HIDs that come in that size.

Looking at the one I have, there are adjustment screws in the back of each "light pod" to aim them up/down.

My oldest son has a Ruger 10/22 with the plastic 25 round banana mags. There are two type that I'm familiar with. One has red plastic on the top of it. I believe its called "hot lips". The other has metal in place of the plastic. If you can, find the metal. He had a clip with the plastic and after it wore down some, it kept double feeding, jamming the rifle, etc. I know you didnt specifically ask me, its just my .02

Sorry, aftermarket replacement senders don't exist. Junkyard or one of these folks may be able to part with one. -

You'll get more responses posting this in the tech forum where more people will see it. That being said, maybe this link will get you started in the right direction for a replacement tank. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_ ... cid=mobile -
Just got back from the initial test with the Hellas and harness upgrade. All I can say is WOW! What a difference. The light is super white and super bright. The e code housings give the light a distinct cut off. No blinding oncoming traffic. And the high beams. Holy cow! While the high beams were on, I threw the Hella 500 driving lights on just for kicks. Barely noticed that they were on. I'm very impressed at the performance over stock. Definitely one of the best functional upgrades I've made. If you're not happy with your headlights or the light output, I very much recommend this as the solution.

Ditto! Enjoy every second with them. Before you know it, they'll all be 4 wheel drive and crawling everywhere!
