Looks good. Thank you guys for the hard work on this.

I vote for a makeover of ComancheClubs home page using this photo of Jim and Ben somewhere on it. Classic pic guys. Y'all have that "all is right with the world" look about you.

Heard on the news that the town I work in (Tyler) is already opening up shelters and such for evacuees. Seems like they're kind of jumping the gun on this one. Issac isn't nearly the threat that Katrina was. Also heard that the edge of the rain was most likely going to run right up the Texas/Louisiana border. Oh well, no rain for me, but I'd gladly welcome some lower temperatures if you can send it this way.

Dude, get that guy by the fire a sammich. Stat! Just kidding. I'm jealous bro. Camping at the beach sounds awesome. The fam and I just got back from surfside beach on the gulf coast. Didn't camp straight on the beach but we made plans to do that next time. Also didn't get to take the MJ either. Kinda hard to cram 4 people in the cab for a 6 hour trip. Anyway, cool pictures and looks like y'all had a blast.

Hallo, Güten tag Roman. Willkommen auf der Comanche Club. Mein Deutsch ist nicht gut. (Learned from my grandparents and haven't used it in over 15 years.) That's quite an impressive collection you have. I'm really digging the red Willys. I'm very interested in what you will turn the MJ in to and I will be following your build. It looks like you have a good handle on it!

Well, here it is wearing new colors. And sitting next to its twin. Just thought I'd give an update. I'm thinking I may reshoot the rest of it in a gloss black to give it a little bling.

Did they move college station closer to the coast? I haven't been there in a few years, but anythings possible I guess. :hmm: -

I'm sure it will be nice and quiet with the proper insulation. But if not, that's what a stereo and amps are for! -
I'm dizzy now.

I discovered a certain gun while at the show. Its based on the AK platform. Anyone ever heard of a saiga 12? I have absolutely no need for one. But I really want one.
-
Put about 150 rounds through it today. Accuracy was pretty good with iron sights at 50 yards. I didn't have quite enough room at the property to stretch it out to 100 safely. It performed as I expected (hoped) and just pop pop popped with no misfires. All in all it was a good way to burn about an hour and have a blast. The targets would tend to disagree I think!

Congratulations Ryan. Your rig is definitely worth the attention.

Predictable? Absolutely. I'll give ya that. But you gotta admit it was too easy to pass up. Oh, and....

There were a few Russian made AKs there. But for what the asking price was, I wasn't willing to get one. No American made ones. A few Polish ones were there, but the quality was crap comparatively speaking. The Romanian ones were a fair enough price for me to be comfortable with. Honestly I was looking for a modestly priced AK because I was also looking for a good Colt or Sig Sauer 1911 as well. As for the reviews, well.......its an AK. For me, its just what was stated. A toy. I don't expect excellent accuracy or top quality out of it. For me and my boys to have fun with at the gun range or on the property. If I want to reach out and touch something with accuracy in mind, that's what the Browning .308 is for. Either way, in my opinion, its all about what you want. And I agree on cheaperthandirt.com. they have good prices. I go there or to midway for ammo/reloading supplies. As far as the furniture, I'm open to restain it to the classic Russian red. I was asking about replacement wood because I haven't ruled out exotic woods like zebrawood or burlwood for example.

OK, OK.......I accept your challenge... lnRY0c-N2QE

Went to the gun show and this little thing followed me home. Romanian WASR AK-47. Anyone know where I can get better furniture for it? The wood it came with is dull and ugly.

For what its worth I did the 97+ swap with a 2001 and used everything from the XJ to simplify. The donor engine had 225,000 miles on it when I got it. It currently has 236,000 miles on it in my truck and still runs great, pulls hard, and cruises down the road just fine. My personal opinion is 180,000 miles on a 4.0 isn't terribly high. As long as you have good compression, minimal blowby, and all that jazz, I wouldn't be apprehensive about tossing it in there simply to save the headache of finding out what works with what. Ultimately its your project and your decision, but that's my 2 cents.
