Sorry Butch. I'm currently using the wheels as rollers for the XJ until it gets scrapped. I'll keep the wheels after the shell is gone. If I do get rid of them, I'll keep you in mind.

Whitehouse is in east Texas near Tyler. Looks like Alpine is WAY down there!

I think I have both of these. Minus the visors. Can you give me a couple days to get to them and snap pics for you?

Fixed My Turn Signal Issues

Nice detective work! -
If Pat passes on the heated seat harness and switches along with the power seat bases, put me in line behind him for them. Thanks.

2000 Xj Oil Pressure Issue
Backdraft replied to boardmanMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
don't take this as fact. But I have heard that the connections to the back of the gauges can become troublesome resulting in intermittent screwy problems like that. I have not personally had any expierence with this problem, but it's probably worth checking out. -
Ryan is absolutely correct. Personally, I ended up with 6.5 inches using the stock D44 perches carefully cut off and rewelded. In hindsight, I should have gone with longer perches to avoid axle wrap as I have a touch of it under hard acceleration. And hey, don't sweat the newb questions. We were all new at one point in time. Whitehouse to Dayton is a heck of a long drive to come help, but I'm down. I have family that lives in Huber Heights I haven't come up to visit in about 13 years!! Two birds, one stone. Plus he's a big car customizer with a full shop to work out of. His focus has been on old lead sled Mercury's.

Thanks for the comments guys. Building this truck was a plan and a goal of mine for quite a while now. It holds a certain sentimental value that I can't place a price on. Because of that, I didn't want to cut any corners or half @$$ anything. I have to be honest though, it was actually a little longer than 27 days. I started working on it about 10 days before I started the build thread. And I didn't consider it done until I could drive it legally. As to using 2wd leaf packs instead of 4wd. Well the simple answer is that it was a 2wd truck when I got it and I didn't want to spend money on other springs if I didn't have to. Also I had read that the 4wd packs sit higher. I wasn't interested in 8+ inches of lift after the SOA and wanted to keep it low as possible. For something that could be a toy as well as a DD, it needed the best compromise of off road capability while still maintaining the best on road manners it could get. Hope that answers your question!

Sort of. I have 10 acres of property way out in the sticks. There is an old barn and rent house on my place that I use from time to time. My cousin has a 10 acre lot next to mine and has just recently built a house on it and moved there. He's slowly building a shop to do welding jobs in. For now his welding table is out in the elements until funds allow the shop to materialize. I do the bigger jobs out there because my neighbors frown on a lot of noise and such coming from the garage. I think they would tar and feather me if I had a half stripped XJ shell in the driveway.

Hmmm. No sir. They're not working for me either. -
Man, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm chomping at the bit for the shop to finish your truck. Can't wait to see you start assembling everything.

Some of the wire colors may be different for the MJ, however I think it should work out. -

I did a kind of write up on it over on naxja about 10 years ago back when it was a decent website. It was for a renix console going in to my 1990 XJ. Give me a few and I'll see if I can drum up a link for you. Haven't been there in a while. -
A few more teasers. Its getting close. Still have to go over a few little pock marks with the welder and grind and finish them to get the corners and edges perfectly smooth.

Thanks a lot Pat. You've given me some new ideas on some new projects. I really like the look of it.

My guess was safety chains.

By the time the paint gets here, it'll be ready! Actually the plan is to carry it in and have it powder coated to match the rest of the truck.

I drove two and a half hours to get my Eliminator in not running condition. 2.5 hours is a nothing drive, merely a fun afternoon. 4.5 hours, well that is just a fun day!

LOL @ Jim. Welcome to the bald head club. I don't always shave it down to the skin. Most of the time I go over my head with clippers and no guard. But when I do shave it all the way down, I use shaving soap (same for my face, have to stay clean shaven) and a gillette 5 blade job. One of the fusion models with the battery. I've tried various shaving creams before and I still prefer the old school method with shaving soap and a brush. I don't remember "off the top of my head" which soap i'm using now, but it's one with aloe and other stuff in it for sensitive skin. Lets face it, your dome skin is pretty thin and sensitive! Also there are various cremes and polishes for your head once you're done shaving it if you so choose to use them. In retrospect, it kind of sucks now since my hair was down to the the middle of my back in the mid 90s as a teenager. Oh well, good luck and be proud of the bald head!

The JCR rear bumper hit my front door today so I carried it to my cousin who is a welder. Couple of teaser pictures as we ran out of daylight.

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
Backdraft replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Ryan, pimpin job on filling in the gaps on the OHC. I have a good headliner in the Phoenix and was thinking I'd get the same little gaps. Was contemplating using plastic scraps to fill in the gaps and contouring them to match. After seeing how yours turned out, I am now officially sold on the idea. Thanks a lot bro!! -
Got the email today confirming shipping and a tracking number to go with it.
