If you look closely, the rear of the rockers and the bottom of the bed sides are rusted out, there is front end damage (passenger side of hood is up while driver side is closed, side marker light is missing. I wonder how much rot through is hiding underneath the paint. I think you could find a better one for the same money through a private sale instead of buying from a car lot.

Aren't "good reliable braking system" and "Jeep Comanche" (substitute Cherokee as needed) mutually exclusive?

The horrid glowing dash light is back.

My original 87 light harness, the side marked did not blink. One wire to the bulb is ground, the other is parking lights. The replacement that came with the new header panel (off 91 Cherokee?) does blink. The wire that went to ground on my original harness now went to the turn signal. With the lights off it blinks with the turn signal, with the lights on it blinks opposite (on when turn signal is off, and off when turn signal is on). It is a simple enough wiring job that it can easily be adapted yourself, but I believe my harness is stock. edit: My buddy's 90 XJ also blinks the side marker light. -
Yeah, that's what happens when your brakes fail.

If you're looking at 3500 pounds tops, like a pop up camper, any full size extended cab p/u or suv should be able to tow it just fine. My 94 Suburban with a 350 I can't even tell towing 3000 pounds unless I look in the rear view mirror. 4000 pounds gets noticeable, but even 6000 pounds tows fine, if a little slower at steep grades. I'll sell you my Suburban if you want it...

Since the admin of this site has a (4) Jeep(s), he's got empty pockets. Empty pockets do not pay for the increase in storage and bandwidth hosting pictures would take. He's paying for the site out of his own pockets and keeping it ad free to boot. :clapping: So if you need to host your pics on photobucket or a place like it, who cares? :chillin:

After most of the week stuck at $1.99 we dropped to $1.98 today.

Bummer. Better luck at the next one!

Hard to do dual tanks because of the exhaust running on that side.

No, any Cherokee or Comanche with the full time 4wd option will have it. That would be the Selec-Trac option. I don't know when all it was available, but my buddy's 90 Cherokee has it. And I agree with 89eliminator. High pinion for strength and better front drive shaft angle, non disconnect because of less trouble. A couple of weekends back I was rather embarrassed that I needed 3 tries and a running start to get up the first hill on the "easy" trail. It wasn't till a quarter mile later I realized my front axle wasn't pulling. Turned out the vacuum lines had fallen off...

The worlds Fastest Comanche
mvusse replied to Worlds Fastest Comanche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
If you get a custom radiator, you can probably do with a shorter one, but go deeper (thicker) at the same time to make up for it. At high speeds, air flow through the radiator should be no problem, but at high rpm the engine will also generate a LOT of heat. Might want to install an extra oil cooler and trannie cooler in there as well. -
Flat bed tow truck means the truck sits on the back of the truck with all 4 wheels not on the pavement, and not spinning.

Hesitating for a few minutes when warmed up.

If something is getting in the cylinder to gum up your plug, I would guess coolant. Sounds like a problem with the head gasket. -

No. Only if you're putting it on a trailer. Flatowing with the T-case in neutral is the same as driving in 4wd. There's no connection between wheels and transmission, but there is still a mechanical connection between the front and rear axles. You can put the tcase in neutral, but drop the front driveshaft as well. I just double checked with the 231 sitting on my workbench in the shed. Even in neutral, the yoke for the front D.S. and Output shaft spin together. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but why would towing on a flat bed truck be any different than towing on a trailer? He did specify they only had a flat bed truck to tow him with.

Do you have access to 540CMR 6.00? It refers to that section for 4wd vehicles. -

I didn't think that looked right. Turns out I was correct.

I agree that a pickup truck can hook up. It just takes a very well thought out suspension. I have seen a S10 with a blown 350 and nitrous pull 6 seconds on a 1/8 mile. That thing took off like it came out of a slingshot.
