    Gas prices

We seem to be stuck at $1.99. But I don't mind that, as long as it doesn't go UP.

  4. You can do your own powder coating on small pieces using a regular kitchen over. Just don't use THE kitchen oven, though  Buy a cheap used on at a garage sale or some place and put it in your garage.

  6. If higher octane gives you lower mileage, maybe your timing is not advanced far enough.

  10. Well, to replace the axle seals on a D30, they go on and off through the differential, so you have to pull the guts out first. There's a good write-up somewhere.

  12. My 4.0/AW4 4x4, running 235/75R15 I get about 16 around town, 19 at 75mph, 21 at 70mph, 24 at 65mph, all running 87 octane. Mileage has been corrected for tire size. I was afraid the 4.5" lift was going to affect highway mileage, but it seemed to have had no effect.

  14. The thingy outlined in red. It is supposed to be oriented as shown in blue for your rear brakes to work correctly (at all?).

  16. My bad. I thought he meant the FAN for the heater was cutting out.

  18. I'm wheeling it like it is Saturday after turkey day here at Painted Rock. Then I'll be done wheeling until spring. After that I hope to have a locker in the front and rocker guards. Rear bumper will probably be after that. If I can incorporate a class III receiver into a rear bumper, instead of the stock one under it, that alone will gain me 3" of height in the back. But brace it in such a way I can actually use it to occasionally tow a 3000 pound trailer. Need bigger tires, but I don't see any way that will happen before spring 2011. Some times being a single parent sucks!

  20. Gotta be a broken or loose wire or connection somewhere. Up hill it moves away, level or downhill it makes contact.

  22. Head gasket is not terribly hard to replace. If you are getting rid of it and can't sell it whole, any chance you'd consider selling the rear axle? ;)
