  1. What miles? The only miles he mentions are the ones he put on his Cherokee.
  2. I'm currently running stock springs and they've held up well so far. But they are built out of the remains of 4 stock packs, 3 of which had broken leafs.
  3. There are three lines going to the CAD. One to lock it in, one to unlock it, and one to go to the switch to turn the light on. If the axle is unlocking AND the light is going off, the vacuum problem is before the CAD because the light goes off BECAUSE the axle disconnects. Vacuum is controlled by the transfer case, but the problem could also be in the vacuum feed to the transfer case.

Saved $25 a week for a LOT of weeks.

    tires

I got these http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?jeep-sid=163&plID=0&partID=14747# and so far (one wheeling trip in 12+" of snow, ice, breaking ice, water and mud) have been very pleased with them. But after shelling out nearly $900 for 4 tires including mounting and balancing, I'd better be pleased.
  6. I posted the fail emoticon to get the picture's actual URL for linking on another site.
  7. :redX:
  8. He advertises a Jeep on 52s. He has picture showing the Jeep on 52s. Then he mentions it comes on 40s. I call that false advertising. Also, the front gears don't match the rear.
  9. The carrier break for the D30 is 3.55/3.73. Carrier break for the D44 is 3.73/3.92. So yes, you will need a new carrier for the D44 as well.
  10. It used to be around September that the next year's model came out. Then in 2007 GM released 2010 models of some vehicles
  11. So it's an 86 with an 85 build date. So what? My 87 (with factory 4.0 straight 6) has a build date of November 86. I guess that must mean I have a 86 prototype 4.0?
  12. Extreme gets everything Jeep they don't build themselves from Rusty's also.
  13. I can't remember. All I know is I used actual center pin bolts, but needed to have the heads ground down because the Ruffstuff perches use the same size hole as the stock ones, which is 1/16" smaller than the common head on the proper sized pin.
  14. Buy new grade 8 bolts. The only problem I've had is a bolt pulling through the frame (taking the sleeve with it) and another bolt stripping out. But that happened trying to turn 33" tires with a locked front axle. I fixed it by plating the frame with 3/16 inside and out and retapping the stripped hole to accept a 1/2" bolt.
  15. Everything from Mike Oldfield to Depeche Mode to NIN. No country, no rap.
  16. One of the guys from Trucks did talk about his very first vehicle once. 1988 Comanche 4 cylinder 5 speed, 2wd.
  17. I would strip it down and junk the unibody. That's pretty bad frame damage considering the power steering bolt holes are sleeved, connecting the inside and outside of the frame. I doubt you'd ever be able to straighten it out correctly, even with a frame puller. Now if it had been the passenger side, I would have said "go for it!".
  18. I got rid of my Suburban at around 165k. It had a 10 bolt 3.73 gears with the gov-lock. Still don't know how that thing survived the abuse I put it through, especially with 3000 pounds of weight on it empty, and loaded up with 6000 pounds of drywall at least once. Floor to ceiling 10 foot sheets... Then again, my D35 survived this, even thought the springs did not.
  19. I took my old yoke into the yard to check against. They put some paint on it to mark it so I wouldn't have to pay for it on the way out. But to be honest, I don't know. I assume they are all the same.

    hauling firewood

This caused me leaf spring: Sitting on the bump stops, 3.5 miles to get home from where I got the dirt.
  21. I can confirm the YJ slip yoke is longer. I run one myself. I can't remember how *much* longer, though. It's either 0.5" or 0.75". Also allows a much steeper angle without binding. Edit: just checked my build thread. YJ slip yoke is 0.75" longer than MJ.
  22. What is it with a lot of people nowadays who all claim they want all their privileges (expecting them to be rights) and all their freedoms, but refuse to take ANY of the responsibilities that go with them. The school allows you to use one of their lockers. Yes, THEIR lockers. The locker is not yours, it belongs to the school. They merely allow you to use it. The least you can do in return is to follow the rules they give with regards to it's use. In this case, close the door when you are done.
  23. Swoosh! Way over my head
  24. Oh wow! You still have a floor! Awesome!
