  1. I just did this job 4 weeks ago. Here are a few more tips. First off, I don't have AC. There are 5 studs in the back of the plastic air box that contains the core that go through the fire wall with 7/16( I think) nuts. The studs may turn out of the box, rather than the nut coming off of the stud. Take care when removing the dash and lifting it over the steering column so as to not crack the windshield  . I found that the bolts holding the defroster manifold to the firewall had been overtightened somewhere along the line and the ears were broken. If you have anything else you want to do that requires pulling the dash, now is a good time to do it( if you can) before putting it back together. There is a thread on here somewhere with a step by step that I used as a guide. Also, you don't need to drain all the coolant, just the bottle and the lines to the heater. If your core leaks like mine did, it drained itself on the floor. Took me 6 hrs, taking lots of breaks as I was outside in 10 deg. weather. Good luck!
  2. Congrats and thanks. :clapping: Vets( specially retirees) deserve more than they get( even swabbies, lol). Enjoy your retirement!

  10. Tranny will not bolt up to a 2.5( from a 4.0). Other parts should work. Need to shorten driveshaft on MJ.
  11. Might have been me, wasn't trying too. Just happened to be the time I got on line.
  12. I agree, it's a sad commentary that you had to do the postal service's work for them, but at least you got the ball rolling and they have found the culprit. I don't suppose they're going to invite you to be there when they slap the cuffs on her? That WOULD be sweet. True, but like a lot of law enforcement agencies( the Feds in particular) are very short handed. My dad retired from the US Customs service and have an uncle who is retired( I think) from the Postal Service( Postal Inspector). It's a tough job, dealing with policies and directives from career bureaucrats and self serving political appointees, while trying to catch the bad guys out there. It can be the proverbial " one legged man in an @$$ kicking contest". This concludes this rant  , we now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

  14. I just checked my 88 dealer brochure, full gauges are listed as an option on all models , except Eliminator and Laredo lwb. The Tach is only standard on the Eliminator, optional on all others, which requires the Gauge group. It is also interesting to note that the Eliminator was a 2wd swb, but I guess it could have been ordered with 4wd? :hmm:
  15. Nope, both of mine have/had 5sp manuals.
  16. Just remember, " You don't buy beer, you only rent it.) :brows:
