I've never had an issue with it and I've been using it for longer than I can remember. I mean, not meaning to come across as rude, but what's so hard about copying links and pasting to where you're trying to stick them? If you are using IE, you've got more issues than just Photobucket. If you're trying to up date a build thread or something from a phone, well there you've got issues too. I'd also stay away from trying to manage things on a netbook since they are slower than an old G3 PowerBook I have. Stick to the good 'ol fashioned PC using Chrome or Firefox and I just can't imagine any issues since it's seriously as simple as copy/paste. If you absolutely have to use your phone/tablet, then use Chrome or Firefox, and I'd recommend installing Flash if you're on Android since Firefox will take advantage of that still even under 4.3+. I run adblock plus so I don't get the ad issue that is potentially causing slowdowns for others, I also have blazing fast internet so not sure I'd notice anyways.

Ah yes, forgot about that. I prefer the vent so I never think about that part. -
97 Doors With Manual Windows
GirsMJ86 replied to nitroxsteve's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just swap the larger mirrors. That's really the only benefit I would see. I have the 97+ mirrors on my '88 and they are much nicer. -
Only if you title it "Jeep Cherokee truck for sale" :rotfl2: Fixed it for you. Honestly... maybe I should try that.

I'm just wondering... if I turn my grilles upside down, would I get more interest in my trucks on CL? lol

Wait, we have koolaid now? Back in my day we didn't even have stickers! Kids and their newfangled ways of creating followers. Welcome to the club, Lime. Sounds like another happy owner, good looking rig too. Seeing as how all these MJ's are popular with the college crowd and such, I'm thinking AMC just released this truck ahead of it's time. Good 'ol forward thinking AMC, make your name known long after your demise. :laughin:

I didn't think of this before, but I got a ton of spare parts with my last rig I bought so I'll see if any were in there. I've never ran across a broken one on all the rigs I've had so maybe they don't get destroyed up here as much. Would be an awesome idea to take a whole one somewhere with a CNC and get some new ones made out of aluminum or something. I'll also keep my eyes open if I head to a yard soon, which is something I'll be doing if I buy the car I'm looking at since it needs a new hood.

Be sure to check XJ seats if you take a trip to the local yard before anyone responds.

Looks like he is in Portland, Oregon. I couldn't imagine going/shipping cross-country or I would have offered my '86 here in Ohio when I saw this posted last night. OT, just curious but what kind of a swap are you doing? Sounds like you're basically looking for another entire rig since you're asking for a specific drivetrain. Otherwise, any MJ drivetrain will swap direct into any MJ body without complication. Unless you try to stick a 4.0 into an early '86, but even then super easy to fix with a bit of hammer on firewall massage.

Ya know, this has gotten WAY off topic and all this stuff should have actually been turned into it's own in the tech section.

Love it.

Bah, humbug! I just had to, since neither of mine are drive-able at the moment.

Anyone Have An Mj With This Interior Color?
GirsMJ86 replied to yellaheep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's an interesting color. Almost would prefer swapping that into my rig instead of black if I keep the thing. Of course I have a complete mint black interior at my disposal so hunting this color down wouldn't be worth it I guess. -
It would make it so the decrease in vac when you stomp on the throttle would not take away from the light switch. Of course I also wonder if that would make it so the light would not go back off even after shifting out of 4wd.
-
Correct.

Take a look at the pics a little closer. You remove c-clip, slide fork, put c-clip back, and bolt it back together, after sliding the sleeve over of course. Or you just place the cover back on upside down after sliding the sleeve over, I prefer the way I did it though. Don't reattach the vac lines and you're good. Just remember to cap the lines so you don't have a leak. If you're saying your fork moves freely with the c-clip still there, then it sounds like you have problems because it shouldn't move at all. Grab a new CAD at the JY or replace the axle with a non-CAD version or just the two piece axle shaft with a single piece.

Dang Eagle, talk about bad luck. Sounds like the '97 F-150 my dad bought new. By the time the warranty was up, everything that could be replaced was. Then he stupidly sold it even though it wasn't having anymore issues. But nah, still not scared away from the WJ. It's what I want, if anything I'll just stay away from '99 WJs. The XJ is a great rig, but just not what I'm wanting at this point in time. We had a '00 XJ classic awhile ago and it didn't feel any more refined than my '91 MJ I had at the time. I'm basically looking to fill a vehicle gap in the family. We need a decent vehicle for riding in when everyone piles into one vehicle because right now the vehicle that gets used is my grandfather's very uncomfortable '05 Escape.

That Special Edition sounds like just what I'm looking for. I couldn't care less about the heated seats or dual climate control, they both went out in my old BMW I had and I just didn't care. I heard that it has the same interior styling as the Limited but without the white face gauges, that true? White faces would bother me I think. Thanks for all the experience info so far. Keep it coming guys.

Been tossing around the idea of getting rid of both my rigs together as a package deal maybe or something, most of my family is even somewhat pressuring me to do so. Mainly because my Crohn's seems to keep flaring up more frequently now, and when that's the case I just can't work on the things so they sit. I was thinking about a WJ awhile ago, and looking back I kind of regret not going that route since having a 4dr 4x4 would be nice right about now since everyone else in my family drives 2wd sports cars or silly little Toyota things. Grands are out of my knowledge area, so tell me what experiences you've had with them or anything that might be helpful. Mainly I'm interested in knowing about the V8 since that seems to be all I can find in the Limited package. I'd prefer to have the 4.0L just because I know all about that, but I want the leather seats and sunroof of the Limited. All other options, except it has to be 4x4, doesn't matter to me. And just to drive it home, I'm only going to be looking at WJs so I don't need to know much about ZJs or any other Grand. Maybe I can get lucky and find someone on CL wanting to trade. lol

Sure thing, glad to be of service.

Oil pressure gauge, what's that? No seriously, that gauge is shot. Just rests to the right, completely horizontal. Have not had time to figure out if it is the gauge or the sender. Originally had idiot lights I believe, gauges were swapped in. Previous owner stuff, I'll send him a text tomorrow and ask for sure. Something I forgot to mention, the exhaust was also smoking pretty bad. Granted it was pretty cold out (40*F), but this stuff was thick. From both the exhaust and the manifold area it was all white though, or at least I didn't notice a blue hue. If the manifold bolts were loose enough, and water got in there from when I hosed off the oil spillage, is it possible that's what it is? Even after it being about two weeks since doing that? Won't be able to do anything until Monday at least, so I'll keep taking everyone's insight and put it all to good use then.

...but I've been on some pretty strong meds and only sleeping for a few hours a night for the past week or so lately, so I'm not quite thinking straight. Was in a rush and dumped some oil in the rig a few weeks ago, spilled what was IMO quite a bit all over the place. Wiped up what I could and hosed off the rest, figured since the thing is just sitting it'd be fine by the time I got around to it again. Just today I drained that oil and stuck in some new along with some leak seal stuff to try and slow down my rear main until it can be fixed, didn't spill any this time. yay Start the thing up and it's smoking pretty bad out from under that shield that is under the fuel rail, above the manifolds. It also after running for a few seconds, maybe 10-15 or so, bogs down and starts sounding like it might die. So I shut it down and I'm looking all over the best I can to try and figure out if it's something serious or just the spilled oil doing its thing, and that's when I hear a very noticeable tick every few seconds. Can't tell exactly where it's coming from but sounds "down in"... Smoke is coming out from by the bolt the most (which looking at that pic again I see there is still oil there on the shield), but is really seeping out all along the gap/edge of the shield there in the middle section. I'm exhausted and not thinking straight so I gave up, decided to call my plans for the day and figured I'd just explain things on here for some insight while I just go lay down maybe.

That double cab looks awesome, so many fond memories of the '05 Gladiator they teased us with for years. Need to do something about those rear doors though. If I had the cash to blow though I'd so grab that, just the double cab brute, not that special forest green ones since I don't care for green.
-
That and the dark green are the only colors I'd take with the tan, prefer the maroon to the green to boot (not to mention purely soft top/doors like I want). Have always wanted to get my hands on a TJ but the owners of them just think they are worth their weight in gold, one in this kind of shape would easily be spotted for $7k around here. I'd never pay more than $4k unless the thing was in top condition from the south/west. I'd say ask $5k for it, she may get lucky. It is an auto though so that hurts it to a lot of Wrangler folks. It may not be too hard to swap out, but a lot of people are like me. I don't want a 5spd but I'm stuck with it because I won't touch doing a tranny swap myself.
