97-Newer XJ doors on an MJ??
GirsMJ86 replied to Andy in Pa's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i saw that post. didnt look that hard and i don't think he did bad on the latch. i would weld it on also or something so its stronger. but as long as it lines up and shuts tight i don't see the problem with it. if you find the post could you post the link up. i lost it when my old laptop fried. thanks. Alex -
actually there was an even better but more rare cj-10. had a truck bed on it and could pull anything. if i could find one in as good of shape as the one in those pics with the truck bed i would get it. Alex

eh, all i know is it seemed to shift a lot smoother once i had it done this way compared to just draining it myself and fillin her back up. and i know a few others that have done it and think it helped theirs shift easier too. Alex

got me but i have had very few problems since i started to use synthetic. but then again i didnt put it in, the mechanic did so maybe he didnt put synthetic in. might have to go have a talk to him now and see what he did use. as for other fluids i know i am useing synthetics since i put them in myself. but the tranny was all done by a mech so idk. thanks for saying that because now i almost wonder if he really did use synthetics or just charged me for it. and when they suck it out they then drain it the normal way. i had them replace the filter the first time i had it done too. but that way all the fluid is out. MJ vs. XJ rear bumper end caps
GirsMJ86 replied to fiatslug87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
that is why i am going to wait till i move out west. then just take a road trip. Alex -
i always have mine sucked out through the filler pipe. gets all the fluid out along with all the sludge and crap. makes it shift a lot easier and just better overall. i don't think i will ever drain it the old way again. i also use all synthetic fluids in mine so that helps too. if its never been done i would get it done at least once with how old these trucks are. ALTERNATIVE to shackles!! Gain Departure angle!!
GirsMJ86 replied to BARILLMS's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i was going to say that same thing. just mod up a dual coil kit and you will be good to go. i was thinking about doing this once i say how they did it on the new gladiator. but this is really the only true way to make it so nothing is past the rear axle. Alex -
here maybe these will help you some. these are for a 91 so idk if they will or not. the body code plate is located on the drivers side of the dash panel in the engine compartment. Alex

i can't wait. finally might get to see how well these new tires do in it. I'm looking forward to those 12" but i doubt we get that much. Alex
-
engine id tag is on the side of the engine block. passenger side IIRC. if i am wrong i am sure someone else can tell ya for sure. its been awhile since i messed with that. let me dig out my manual. Alex

looks good. clean up those stripes and darken them then find some dent trim for the sides and that thing will look like it just came off the lot. and you will find out you won't need 4wd with one of these, my old 2wd lowered eliminator went anywhere my new 4wd has so far. oh and nice looking xj you have. for some reason i like the chrome front on it better then ones that are body color. you will find out that most people have done this fix and never bother going any further with it. a lot of times it is done if there is a vac leak and it won't engage unless you track down the vac leak and fix it, which most people do not want to do. it is still engaged and disengaged from the t-case and that point in the axle is no weaker then it was when it would slide over by vac from the factory. and it actually might be considered stronger then that since it is not relying on vac to hold it over. this just makes sure that it will not get knocked out of 4wd if something was to happen to those vac lines. if anything, do it until you can track down some solid axle shafts with the newer joints or a selsc-trac d30. and that is why we are here, to help each other out and i tried to do that when i did this fix. my truck is a street truck most the time also and i have had no problems since doing it. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2001&start=30 scroll to the bottom of the page. everything is there you need to know. works great, its easy, and costs nothing. have at it. Alex

why do you need pics of the two? those are easy to tell apart seeing as how the cj-8 was the scrambler and the 7 was just the newest bad@$$ cj that was out. i use to know of a site though, i will try to find it but who knows if i have it saved anymore. you can try over at http://www.ifsja.org since they have nothing but full size jeeps. Alex

you really don't need the faster one unless you are downloading a lot of movies or games. but for only ten bucks i would say get the faster one. as for getting their other services, don't bother unless they offer better services then what you have now. Alex

yea those things are sweet looking. if the gladiator does not come out in the next few years i will be buying one of those right there. but i don't want any of that power crap on it and i would like a better engine since the 3.8 is really weak. Alex

well engine and transmission on this are only at about 25k miles tops. the truck itself is mainly original except stuff i am changing out to newer parts. like front axle, rear axle with discs, the canyon wheels of course, and other odds-and-ends like the overhead xj temp/compass, and the xj fluid sensor system. Alex

i have the info for 91s if you want me to post it. not sure how help it will be though since in 91 cdx did change stuff. Alex
-
oh its close. not much rust at all. and what little it has will be fixed this summer. but it still does have the dent in the drivers side. once it warms up ill fix that too. Alex

i have tons of pics. i major in photography so i will enjoy taking any pics of my truck if anyone wants some. the tire size in those pics are only like 235s. i am now running 31s and will take a pic of it in the morning to show the difference. here are a few good ones from that shoot though. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... c&start=30 if you need or want anything different just let me know, whatever you want i can get it. or if you want any pics of my older trucks just say so. Alex

i don't think i could sell this one. i mean, unless some one had like 5k to blow so i could get another one right away and do a major build how i want. Alex

man now I'm in the mood to start hunting for a j-truck again. but that red one is saweet. Alex

awesome truck. cool to see one with the eliminator decals on it still. i am getting some made for mine so it has them again. not big on the front bumper but then thats just because i tend to keep stuff looking stock (not including lift and wheels and the likes). but i really like it. how does it handle being up that high? does that lift seem to work out well or should i maybe find a different one? i am thinking about adding some more lift to mine to have more clearance for the tires. Alex

get this, i got on my insurance page to pay and found out i could do this: Image Not Found they say it is worth that much in good shape. which with mine being rust free for the most part and new engine and stuff it matches the qualifications to be worth that. and the actual mileage on the truck is 176,000 the engine/transmission only have about 20k on em. and lets say its on bigger tires now too. but getting that might be a different story. Alex PS- this is the truck it is referring to:

if anything, its good for some jeep pics still... and thats about it. Alex
