desertmike replied to desertmike's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thats it Thanks -
The local alternator shop will rewind my stock alternator to 140 amps for about $150. OR I am also looking at this. http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-9356-alternator-high-output-160-amp-40-jeep-cherokee-87-88-89-90-wagoneer.aspx I've searched and can't find the link to the guy that makes wiring upgrade kits for the Renix alternator, anybody know? I know I've seen it on here before. 88 Renix 4.0

Lift Questions -- Ride Quality and Flex
desertmike replied to JesseFourOh's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I need to hijack this thread for an answer. lol. shelbyluvv has an RE 4.5 lift with Hell Creek leafs. Does the truck sit level? Did the leafs settle after awhile? I put a RC 4.5 long arm on mine and the rear sits to low. Has add a leaf and extended shackles from a long time ago. I'm sure the springs are sagging a bit too. Trying to decide to get the 3 or 4.5 leafs from Hell Creek. Can't afford both sizes. Kinda leaning towards the 3 inch and cut the front coils some. The ride isnt to bad now but has stock leafs. I do put some sand bags in the back now and then though. I do have another set of MJ leafs to make a bastard pack but I think that would just make the ride stiffer. Any input would be appreciated. -
After reading the reviews I'm not so sure its the one. I found a new listing that cruiser54 had posted for a few $ more and has ceramic connectors. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CERAMIC-H4-HEADLIGHT-RELAY-WIRING-HARNESS-2-HEADLAMP-LIGHT-BULB-SOCKET-PLUGS-7X6/331273872366?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D24934%26meid%3D89e034a2ae3d4e808110fc4997ff557f%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D10514%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D330813121438#ht_11082wt_1028

Hi guys I have an 88 MJ and 89 XJ. Just wanted to check and see if this is the correct harness for Putco. The fitment guide says no. The links that cruiser54 posted seem to be old or not available anymore. Will the Putco harness fit both cars? http://www.amazon.com/Putco-230004HW-Premium-Automotive-Lighting/dp/B001P29X4G/ref=au_as_r?ie=UTF8&Make=Jeep%7C42&Model=Comanche%7C348&Year=1988%7C1988&carId=002&n=15684181&newCar=1&s=automotive&vehicleType=automotive Thanks

Having problems installing my lift kit!
desertmike replied to projectMANCHI's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I installed a 4.5 Rough Country long arm kit some time back. I had to go back and get a sway bar quick disconnect and I got an Iron Rock track bar with bracket. Still not finished yet. The truck sits low in the back even though it has add a leafs and extended shackles. I have a set of extra Comanche leafs that I might use the upper leaf and cut off the eyes and use it instead of the XJ add a leafs. I think I'm goin to cut half a coil or full coil off the front to compensate. Otherwise I'll have to get some Hell Creek leaf springs. -
I went to the Mustang injectors 5 or 6 years. They are all metal instead of plastic and are 4 or 5 hole. I'm in Cal and have'nt had any problem with smog. They were a little pricey thought. I think $50 or $60 each off the internet.

Quick help needed: clutch issue (ba10)
desertmike replied to Bonkers's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Its the dreaded slave cyclinder. When the peddle acts funny it always turned out to be the slave. Seems like they are more prone to fail if you slip the clutch for some reason. Been through 3 over the years and finaly upgraded to AX15's with external slave. -

Don't want to put a damper on this but I don't think the 68 came with a 360 which was a less smog producing motor. Those cars came with a 6 cylinder or a 273 v8. Somewhere in the late 60's(about 68?) they came with the 340 which started out as 275HP then NHRA upgraded them to 315HP and a year or 2 later up to 325HP stock because they were winning to much. Also the 727 torkflite is a big block trans. The small blocks were 904. Also if you got the 4 speed you got the A833 trans which was a cast iron case and heavy as hell. I bought a new 65 Dodge Dart Charger that came with the 273 4bbl and 904 auto trans. I also had a 71 Duster with the 340 and 4 spd. -
Just be aware that in 91? they changed the size of the ball joint and frame bracket. Just in case you want to go back to stock.

Steering Box Frame Plating
desertmike replied to Project Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have had DW in one form or another for 25 years and never have solved it completly. Replaced tires, rims, balance, tre's, ball joints, trak bar, etc, etc, etc. -
Thanks for all the comments. I don't like the stickout either on most winch bumpers. Put a Smittybilt XRC bumper on the wifes XJ and ofter looking at it for awhile it dosen't look to bad but does have stickout. I agree with Grizzzzbear about the disign but don't know if it can be done on our jeeps (XJ,MJ). Still deciding.

Anybody using one of these and if so how do you like it? I'm between this and the Crusader from JCR. http://www.nates4x4.com/XJ_Cherokee_Slimline_p/sl_long.htm Thanks

Quick question. I have an 89 XJ and 88 MJ both 4.0. I need some more power for winches. Will these fit with a little work and are they electrically compatable? Thanks -
Can be used when installing an AX15 and 231 from a BA10. Found this on another forum and bought one. Haven't got it yet. http://www.boostwerksengineering.com/-Transfer-Case_c_13.html

Had the same problem. and mine was out of the car. I finally installed in the truck and used the backup lite sender hole as a guide. Filled er up till it came out and drained a little to where I thought it should be.

Oil filter in an '88: Does the Mopar MO-090 fit?
desertmike replied to phenryiv1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Back in 1988 Fram was the only filter I could find that was metric. Been using ever since.. P/N PH3985 for the Renix.
