  1. Well it has Been a banner day round here  My D44's trac lock started spitting out shards of clutch plates, Lucky for me I got to it in time . Every thing in the Carrier is still in good shape except the clutches they are TOAST  . I think I am just gonna get the spiders welded for now , till I can get the cash to set it up with the open carrier I have ( which by the way won't just drop in  ) or get a detriot later on. has anyone else tryed to wled the spiders in a track lock? It seems to me it should just be like any other lincoln locked rear , But I figured I would ask first So I don't shoot my self in the foot.
  2. Happy birthday :D
  3. But the Yj's don't have the aw4 do they? Thats the trans I am trying to run
  4. Not a bad Idea :-D I will look into that option , It would be nice to grab one with less miles on it.
  5. Hmm :? I thought the TCU harness goes into the Jeep from the ecu throught the engine compartment then under the dash ? I will have to reinspect the donor.
  6. OK I realy want to swap an auto into my 88 MJ . I have transmisions and tcases availibe , Now the fun part  I know that I have to swap wiring harnesses at least in the engine bay My question is has anyone done this ? do I have to swap the intierior harness as well? . Also will a XJ engine harness work with the MJ?. It seems Like the TCU wiring comes out of the harness and goes into the fire wall just to the right of the heater core hoses Correct? Does the power/comfort switch come off the TCU or tyhe main INT harness. I know the ecu and tps are also diffrent and My MJ also has the C101 conector above the brake booster ( so does the donor XJ) So can anyone shed some light on this for me?
  7. Now it's perfect :D
  8. Just needs one thing, A Rollbar :D Since thats a SWB It shouldn't be to hard to make one :D
  9. I need to replace the front shaft on my MJ badly, I have a LWB 4.0 , ba10 231. Does anyone know if a front driveshaft from an XJ with the 4.0,aw4,231 will work? The slip joint on mine is totaly worn out , I found this out after the front axle swap and lift. The damn thing is vibrating Like a $10 dollar hooker with epilepsy :D
  10. The 2.8 is just a baby v8 :D they could care less about back pressure. I wouldn't go to crazy pipe size wise but duals will work niceley The 2.5 is just an oddball , my 4.0 MJ runs a hollow cat and she runs like a champ. My YJ ran without the cat and was a PIG
  11. I sugjest that if you have a carb 4banger you can pull the cat but if you have FI DO NOT, Pull the cat I have a 4banger YJ and I had a 4banger MJ both lost bottom end power without the cat. If you have top replace the cat with a stock type replacement type and then go 2 1/2 inch exhaust from there back. The 2.5 needs a bit of back pressure to run right
  12. Well Looks like my plan has changed :( I have a line on an Ax 15 and tcase I realy need  And it also looks like the D44 in my MJ has to be rebuilt   So I am going to have to pass on this one, I did measure the diffrence from the long bed to short bed versions . The long bed is about 8" lionger from wheel well to bed wall than the shortbox. Since it is such a diffrence I probably couldn't bring myself to cut up a good rollbar on the chance I could get it to work and look good. So Thanks for the find , Hopefully someone will getit before the crusher will. But keep me in mind if ya see a LWB bar :D
  13. If they did, you may not be able to get close enuf to it and you would damage the YJs tires  Mr. I have onboard air :P Call and ask if they would remove it. I really don't think it will be a problem to get it out. We would just have to lug it half way across the lot - Rich Now your foilin my plan, :-D If I mess up the tires I get new ones :D And I have OBA because a/cin a 4banger YJ with a soft top just don't work :P :D I will call them monday and see if they will pull it, But I am not that lucky
  14. :D SWEET , Will they let you drive up to it? I have onboard air in my YJ and some air tools too. :D Will they pull it? by any chance?
  15. If you tuned up the MJ and still have a skip , it may be dirty injectors. Find a "chevron " gas staition or an auto parts store that sells " TECRON" Buy two bottles put in in with 10 gal of premium gas and run till damn near out and then do the same again. Tecron is one of the best injector cleaners out there. The whining in the rear is probably from age and mileage, just check the fluids and drive the piss out of it till you have time to do a swap or rebuild on it. Oh and by the way Welcome to the site :D You will Like it here :D
  16. The stock LWB rollbar mounts to the front slope of the wheel well in the bed. I think what Jeep did is make the conection point where the slope bars and the main hoop a bit longer . It could possibly be made to work :D What is that rollbar goin for? and where abouts in FL is it?
  17. :( Oh well. Hopefully someone will get it and put it to good use :D
  18. Tanks :D I am pleased with the springs so far. they still need to settle in but the ride good and seem to flex well , for as far as I have flexed them ( not much yet
  19. I bought the rustys 4" leaf packs ( still spring under )
  20. Well I just adusted the steering adjuster closest to the skid and put it back on :D I just like the way it looks and keeps trash out of the alt. Besides if I decide to ramp a mitsubishi it will make it a smooth transision over the fake wing :D
  21. Brett ...... Can I get a discount for advertiseing? :D I am thinking about the swap for a few reasons 1. ax15's are difficult to find 2. bad knees and clutches don't play well together 3. the AW4 is probably the most bullet proof auto trans I have ever seen. I have seen them beat to snot , overheated and spanked for days on end and never complain. Brett if you could make a shifter or device that would allow full auto for a swap in setup you would probably make a ton of $ especialy if you don't have to rewire the whole jeep to do so. I know several people that would love to run the AW4 in YJ's & TJ's and just think of rebuilding an old CJ with a newer 4.0 and AW4  :D :D
  22. Hmmm I thought not havin floors was the A/C :? :D
  23. ROLLBAR  lemme know if it's a LWB factory bar , IF f so I will run down and getter :D
