I want to replace my Injectors... I am trying to remove the fuel rail and the fuel return line is being kind of a pain in the butt... I see the clips, I've squeezed them in, tried the fuel line both directions and and it's not coming in or out. I haven't even messed with the rear fuel line, but it looks like it has a different type of connector also Any help? Sw2

Snide and/or smart assed replies are no longer allowed SW2. If it happens, the thread is immediately locked. ONLY KIDDING Pete & Eagle. :D Seriously Wade, you should pop off the valve cover and take a look-see inside. Prolly just loose rockers. Suggest using the more expensive composite valve cover gasket (Fel-pro) when buttoning it up; they're basically idiot proof. You were right, it was idiot proof, at least taking the cover off... Now I don't have a clue what I'm looking for or at... the inside of the cover is nearly clean enough for me to eat off of (pic blow is 2 seconds after I popped it off, no wiping)...How should I check everything else? Maybe now would also be a good time to do the Fuel Injectors that have been sitting on my bench for month and month...

Auto, ALL DAY every day... I'd swap my AX15 for a Auto in a second if I could... My TJ is Auto and I wouldn't have it any other way... where I wheel is more Rocks than trails, and I get much better "crawl" that dudes I go out with similar rigs with sticks...

I've messed up more than my share of "idiot proof" projects, so don't overestimate me... I went ahead and ordered one of those gaskets from RockAuto and once I can fire it up and pull it into my garage, I'll pop off the valve cover and see what I can see. My Battery cable clamps are pretty bad off and I can't tighten at all and I sheared one of the bolt heads trying to take it off... I'm guessing a combo of old cheapy battery and bad terminals, but I didn't get to the parts store this evening (on kid duty) so won't know for sure if that's my starting problem or not till tomorrow. I'm going to toss my Optima in there to make sure once I replace the terminals. sw2

*UPDATE* I might kill this thing yet... went to drive it today (for the first time in a week or so)... completely DEAD...no turn over, no click click, no vrr..vrr no start...nada/nothing... I'm hoping just a battery, but didn't have time to mess with it since I was already late to my 7:30 meeting, I have my old Optima Blue Top from my TJ in the garage that I tossed the charger on, so will stick it in this evening to see if that was it. I think my battery cables could use a scrub also. I think this thing wants me to get pissed and get rid of it! Sw2

Good to hear another MJ is back on the road but what's "poorly running"? It starts most of the time...It runs, usually ...but original engine/tranny at 208K miles...it sounds like a diesel (the lifters and rods)...burns oil all the time, the tranny sometimes will go into gear (sometimes not)... I'm basically just waiting for it to up and die and then I will have to decide what to do for a swap or whatever... I'm also a little disappointed that I didn't even elicit a snide or smart assed remark from either Wahoo or JT on this entire thread...what is this site coming too now a days?

Well, taking the broken one off took about 3 minutes with a beer break in the middle, so if the replacement is just as quick, then other than the bad timing and the inconvenience of the tow (and all the a-holes that yelled at me as they drove by because they thought I was the reason for the Freeway slowdown), it wasn't that big of a deal... But I am a drama queen, so I have to make a big deal about everything. Maybe I'll even yank my dash and fix my rust spot while it's in the garage waiting for the new heater valve. Thanks for everyone's condolences for my Grandfather...he was a good man...saw action in Europe and the Pacific in WW2, Korea and Vietnam (Air Force) and thankful he is no longer suffering the cancer all over his body and all the other stuff that had kept him pretty bad off the past few months. My kids got to spend a day with him when he was still "OK" in January, so hopefully they will remember him a little bit, even if only through some pics Sw2

IF he doesn't have one.. I have one as well. I had issues with the closed system as well, so I ended up doing the open conversion, and did away with all that heater hose crap there. Thanks PP...will let you know if MOR ends up not having one on his shelf... If I was 100% sure I was going to keep this and/or do an engine swap at some point I'd think about the open swap...I just don't have the time or want to throw the extra money at something that I still might just get rid of...

Thanks... I was just south of HWY85...luckily where there still is a shoulder...had I been on my way up the Hill, I would have been in a HEAP of trouble (virtually no shoulder on either side for about 10 miles up a 1500-2000ft incline/decline) for those that have never been between San Jose and Santa Cruz. BTW, if anyone has an extra heater valve laying around of the part # for a new one, I'm all ears.

Hey Welcome.... you are sort of local...I'm up in Scotts Valley and go down to Hollister a few times a year... I've never taken the MJ, but have a TJ that I usually take and go with some of the dudes in the Santa Cruz 4WD club... Good to see another Nor/CenCal guy on here... My MJ has some probs right now, so don't think a trip to Hollister Hills is in my near term plans, but maybe we could hook up down there sometime... Wade -
*Story* Ok...not having a good week... my Grandfather in Florida passed away last week... packed up and flew out this past Wednesday (San Jose Airport is about 30-40ish miles away from home)... Drove the MJ since I was by myself, and still have the Top off the TJ and don't really want to leave that parked at the airport (especially with no top). So flew back home from Orlando today (after having my GPS on my phone not work and get sort of lost going to the airport, and nearly missing my flight), was hoping to get home soon enough to see the wife, whom I hadn't seen in a few days, before she had to leave for work and get home to my kids...Was already running late because of another flight delay in Las Vegas. Started driving home on the Freeway...and the engine just STOPS, I mean abruptly...I coast over to the shoulder and smell burning and then start to see the smoke/steam... I get out and the engine compartment has coolant EVERYWHERE, I mean covered from top to bottom... Called AAA, got the tow home, missed the wife by about 1/2 hour and now have to do more work on the MJ...I am thinking more and more that I should just get rid of this thing...I still have to fix the rust spot under the dash before winter rainy season, have an engine that could go anytime, and tranny that usually, but not always will go into gear... Probably just tired from all the traveling and disappointed that I couldn't make it home to see my whole family, but the MJ REALLY let me down today... :fs1: BTW, I don't know how TAZ or anyone else for that matter lives in Florida... I mean the Humidity (which I was told was mild while I was there), is just KILLER...literally gave me headaches...

Wouldn't be bacon thread if I didn't pop my head in... I'd hit it... and by hit, I mean eat of course!

Pat...hope to see you have a fast recovery and have a chance to get everything worked out... Everybody has problems and challenges at one time or another (some more serious than others), and without condoning or condemning, I'd rather see a guy admit that things didn't happen as they should have instead of being a total a-hole, or just disappearing...I've been on the receiving end of both of those types of deals also (not here on CC)... I'm not really "planning" on selling... I mean if someone walked up to me on the street and asked to sell it and had 30 Benjamin's in their hand, I'd probably let it go, but there is no "For Sale" sign on it, you won't see an ad on the Classifieds section from me or anything like that any time in the foreseeable future. Just taking some "away" time from the MJ...don't know if that means another month or two, 6 months, a year...who knows...

Thanks Hoo... If I thought I could get $3K for it, I'd let go of the entire truck, negative energy and all...

Hey all...been in summer hibernation (and still kind of pissed at the MJ) and not been around here much but wanted to stop in and say "Hi!" and share a couple pics from the 4th of July Parade....our club rolled about 12 Rigs through our little small town parade and it was a fun time and my 4 year olds loved rolling through town with the top off and waving at a couple thousand "adoring fans". :wavey: Hope everyone is doing well...
