electrical issue, no surprise.
maddzz1 replied to MiNi Beast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If its an after market radio it could be the radio wiring causing the problems too. My XJ does some strange things thanks to the PO wiring the radio wrong -
Maybe check the fusible links by the solenoid. Give them a tug. Sometimes they look fine but will stretch like taffy when pulled.

Teamcherokee has them too $6 a piece http://www.teamgrandwagoneer.com/parts/ ... more2.html

Is it turning over but not starting? or is it not doing anything when you turn thr key
-
Can watch it online here: http://atdhe.net/

The white one doesnt go anywhere it is just a vent. The red one I'm not sure.

I believe the original factory bars added SOME protection. They actually have plates under the bed that attach the rollbar to the unibody.

Glad to hear your OK Jim. My friends father owned a transmission shop, and while one of the hydraulic lifts was being fixed he was somehow crushed and killed. Working under anything that weighs as much as a car can easily go bad fast.

You could be right, I could be remembering it backwards

Release The Key-Starts, Then Won't Stay Running

Maddzz1 steps in to take a bow. j/k Glad you figured out the problem. -
Not sure about the stat. It is still running hot, but only on the highway; so I'm thinking fan clutch
-
I don't think any stop leak was ever used.

I'm not a fan of the Waggy front end either. Maybe it would look better if you could use the 10 slot grille with it.

Release The Key-Starts, Then Won't Stay Running
maddzz1 replied to 64 Cheyenne's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just checked. There are like 10 red wires over there, but only one of them connects onto the screw on the solenoid. Thats the one that has the new end end on it so I'm almost positive thats the one he must have replaced. It runs from the solenoid into a harness so I'm not sure where it runs too. -

Yes replaced the ign switch down on the column, not where you put the key in. Yes, between the battery and the solenoid. There are some fusible links there too (I think there are 3) but I'm almost positive it wasnt one of the fusible links. I'm pretty sure it was the red wire. The guy never showed me exactly which wire it was just told me what he did. I looked later and one wire had a new connector on it, the hoop kind that go over the screw on the solenoid. I will go check which color wire now. Be right back. -

I had the same problem with my 89MJ. Replaced ignition switch, didnt help. Ended up bringing it to a shop that specializes in auto elec. Ended up was one of the wires between the battery and the power dist center. One of the ones that all connect to the metal thing (forget what its called). -
I have a friend with a 95 Maxima 6cyl Has been having overheating issues. New water pump, thermostat, and rad cap. Think that prob is fixed. Now the other prob: Will only blow heat if pressing on the gas, let off the gas and it starts blowing cold. Clogged HC?

This year was definately one of the stranger years in the NFL, especially if you play fantasy football. The parity in the league seems to become closer with every year. This year I think we STARTED to see the changing of the guard atleast to an extent. Alot of the bottom tier teams are moving up while alot of the middle tier teams have moved up to the top tier or fallen to the bottom tier. Also, the top tier teams have fallen to the middle tier.

Seat Bracket Interchangeability
maddzz1 replied to tbrand's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes they are interchangeable. Thats what alot of guys do to use the XJ buckets, they use the brackets from their bench. -
You said you were messing with the battery terminals earlier. I would check all the little wires between the battery and the power dist center. One may be losing a connection and you may have moved it causing a connection while messing with the battery.

Yeah Don, The game last week reminded me of the SB against the Giants. Their O Line was unstoppable and ours was terrible and couldnt get any pressure. I think the Steelers will beat the Jets this week (remember, all 4 teams that are left have already been beat by the Pats earlier this year) and lose to the Packers in the SB (sorry Jeff).
-
Since the Pats have been eliminated for failure to show up last week, I am now hoping green Bay will take the whole thing. Here is my reasoning: I hate Pittsburgh and the Jets and Chicago is just a boring team to watch. Pittsburgh vs Green Bay I think will be the best Super Bowl.

If you are going to keep it spring under, than just reweld the perches. The spring plates that have the shock mounts on them are bolt on. They are held on with the u-bolts.

96 would have an airbag. I think 91-95 the ignition switch may be different but not sure.

This is on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-1986 ... 4aa7f16f5b If I read Dons info right, it will work on an 88 long bed? or will it only work with a carb and not with FI?
