  1. I agree, that is NOT stock!! Not a huge deal really. Someone was likely hauling something heavy and thought that they needed them. CW
  2. Went to the Doc today. he said everything looked really good. EKG was normal, chest/heart sounds good and heart cath path looks great and almost healed. Last tests at hospital and BP today normal. All good and what he expected. I even got extra points for getting all the glue form the chest stickers off with out looking too much like that idiot on the 40yr old Virgin!!! (Hairy chest here :dunno: ) Going to do a chemical stress test (Little treadmill running, I did have a heart attack after all. :shake: :shake: )and more blood work & EKG the end of the first week in Feb. Then an appointment back with him the following week. With luck and no complications. Hopefully at that point I will get a return to work date. I could be back to work before the end of Feb, but 1st of March is more likely.  I was cleared for some walking, so I can get out of this house!!! Gotta take it way easy, at least for a couple weeks. I feel better everyday, but find that I do tire quite quickly. CW
  3. To the best of my knoledge, all comanche leaf springs came from the factory with a thick short bottom leaf. Many refer to it as as an overload spring. CW
  4. Oh man.. I sure hope this crap aint contagious!!!!   I'm new to this club, I haven't gotten my "orders" yet. Tomarrow is the day... The BEST OF LUCK to you in your battle!!! AMEN BROTHER!!!! CW
  5. Thats some good hunting!! Nice pic and truck to by the way!! CW
  6. I am a long time supporter of the BFG tires. Both the AT & the MT. I have always found the AT to do everything I asked of it exceptionally well. Even did good a couple times I was running up in the woods turkey hunting and had a couple really greasy muddy spots. I made it to the top!! I had a set of 33's that I ran a while on my TJ and later on a Ford PU. I put maybe 20,000 total miles on them when I sold them I sold them to a buddie who put them on his Dodge PU. He HATED THEM... I literally took them off the Ford and put them on his Dodge. Same rims, same tires, VERY simular trucks, both SB 4X4's w/sb V8's. They worked perfectly for me one week, the next week he said he didn't get traction in the rain????? Go figure, I can't...... I like them, I buy them. They have been my #1 choice for better than 20 years. CW

  8. Something your missing... (Or I am)the YJ had D35 Rear axles. WHY go to all this trouble for s D35????? I could see getting another D35 that was a drop in for a short term solution.. but if your going to the trouble of welding and such. Just do it right the first time... CW
  9. IMHO, Much of what we think we get from a free flowing exhaust came from the the time up to the smog years and primairly form the small V8's. Most had very restrictive/poorly designed exhaust manafolds and small dia pipes. SO, slap a set of headders on a '60's 327/350 along with some glass pac mufflers and watch that motor wakeup. I did it in high school, just like thousands upon thousands of other kids did. Well, these auto engineers advanced in how they design and build enjines. Some of our thinking on the subject has stuck in the 60-late70's. Don't get me wrong now, some exhaust systems still do have restrictive systems. Most are much better and will not nearly see the seat of the pants boost we did 30 years back. Look at the exhaust manufolds on your 4.0. They are tubular, much like the headers we put on that old Nova/Chevelle/Mustang. Not nearly as restrictive as cast manafolds of old. Cats are much better too. Now cheap mufflers, the cheapies still can be quite restrictive. As you would surmize with the boon in custom muffler manufacturers in recient years. Air filter systems too can restrict the air getting into your engines. Minor perf boosts and larger economy boosts can be had addressing these. So, with a realitively stock jeep set-up. Meaning STOCK cam, TB, injectors and exhaust manafold. Little is gained from removing the cat or adding a better air filter system or even just a "chip". Now of those, a properly setup chip will alter the air/fuel ratio and adj the entire computer controlled fuel system for optimal performance. Not something the factory could do. Because they needed a good balance with economy. After all, like I said Jeeps are not thought of as performance vehicles. With that stock system, a certain amount of back pressure is a good thing in the overall driveability and performance/economy of that engine system. Wanna get a boost in HP? Stroke it, cam it, add a bigger TB and injectors AND chip it!! Throw on a air filter system along with a good header and exhaust system WITH a hi-Flo cat. Don't go crazy with pipe, 2.5" is just fine. Now GEAR IT!! (A big one many people skip right over) Fineally feed it and you will have something rivaling many small V8's. Just my humble opinions... CW
  10. I thought only NAPAs premium line was made by WIX... CW
  11. Like Eagle says, its the mount collapsing with age, fatigue or just getting oil soaked. Pretty easy fix, if you can swing the mounts cost. The side of the mount has a hanger that the flange for the cat bolts to. That flange has a "tounge" that slides in that rubber mount. This helps hold up the exhaust at the juncture. Mine did this too, even after the mount was changed!!! My fix was an additional mount hung off one of the tranny bolts. I made it with part of a HD hanger and a pipe muffler clamp. I bolted the hanger w/rubber isolator to the tranny and the clamp to the exhaust. Pushed the exhaust up to where I wanted it and welded to two parts together. Nice and clean, sorry, no chance for any pics for a while... But I think you get the idea. Good luck, CW
  12. Pat, That looks like a nice solid design. I like the sheetmeal guards on the sides!! Once I get better and it warms up, I would really like to get this side protection on mine too!! CW
  13. Please post up your location!! Same as eagle I have sets of gears you could HAVE!! I also have a complete, good D35 w/3:55's out of my MJ. We could work out a deal MUCH cheaper!! I even have a lock rite for it if your brave! :brows:   Let us know, CW
  14. It has no effect on me, but I gotta say, you need a bit more education on what and how to make a internal combustion engine make power... Hogging out a perfectly good hi-flow cat to make a free flowing exhaust is ... well.. stupid. Running a larger pipe, no cat and a free flowing muffler WILL destroy lo-end torque. No matter what you think and have seen. The laws of physics exist everywhere and for everyone... Open free flowing exhaust are for only advantageous in W.O.T. situations. If you drive like that, it will offer an advantage to a stock type setup. But virtually nothing else in a jeep is made for this kind of driving. Jeeps are generally not go fast vehicles. In order to achieve a favorable return, from a free flowing exhaust, you need to increase INTAKE, side. no matter how well the exhaust flows, if the engine cannot get the air/fuel in, how is it supposed to get it out faster? If you like it loud, more power to you. But don't try to justify it with grossly untrue misinformation. Thats not cool. CW

    New ride!

SORRY, nope, its a 8.25 chysler... but don't worry, its a good axle!! I love the two doors!! NICE find, CW
  16. Because of the funky rear prop valve. There is a very specfic way to bleed the brakes. I'll bet that is the problem... CW
  17. Thanks man, I know your intentions are pure. I really appreciate the works of encouragement. From you and all my C.C. brothers!!  CW
  18. Seems that way to me as well... At least it did when I was srtill in Hospital. Now that I am home, I can see how much I really was effected. Just carring on a normal conversation tires me out for about 15-20 mins. If it is at all inrence, I would not be able to contribute. I feel pressure and "funny" very quickly. Thats just talking!! Right now I cannot imagion doing any lifting or walking stairs like I need to @ work. Its early still, I need to heal. This was a great deal of trama to my heart. My doc tells me that a BP of 195/114 really takes its toll. The 2mo estimate is mine, not the docs, so I sure HOPE it works out that I can get back sooner. But there are two guys in my dept alone who had heart attacks. One almost identicle to mine but @ age 51. He was out 2mo. That was about 3 years back. Another guy was 47, but he had 3 stents put in and a worse attack. He two was out 2 months. That was 10 years back. My cardio doc will let me know next Monday. If I stand or sit upright too long I can feel pressure build as well. These feelings are all brand new. before this I was never so aware of "feelings" inside my chest. So its entirely possible I just have a heightened awareness of them for a while. Time to go lay down..... Talk to you guys later.. CW
  19. I'm facing a minimum of two months off of work and you think I should buy a laptop??? :shake: :dunno: :shake: (All "extra" monies come from overtime, sitting on my arse means no overtime!! :ack: :ack: ) CW
  20. Jef, You made me chuckle man... Imagion that.. FRUIT in BEER... perish the thought!!! :wavey: :rotf: :shake: JT, Lets not get personal now... My joint works fine. I am just forbidden to use it for "fun" for at least two weeks. THAT is crewl and unusual punishment!!!! :shake:  :rotfl2: Feeling better every day!! I have even knoticed my back pain in the AM getting out of bed is GONE!!! My leg pain form the surgery, is still sore but fine if I stay off my feet. (Like I am supposed too.) I just go from the bed to bathroom to my chair. (I sneak in here a couple times to check up, too. :brows:) Got a doc appmt Wednesday. See y'all, CW
  21. I don't know if anyone else may have linked this build up here. I don't get around as well reciently... but it was VERY NICE!! its also a pick up so its OK!! Juan just sent it to me and I thought you guys would like to read it too. http://forum.aev-conversions.com/showthread.php?t=404 Enjoy, CW
  22. Deziped gives good advice!! Side to side axle movement is held in check with the track bar. But there are more than a couple things in there that coud by them selves or together couse this problem. Did this just start? What is the last thisg you did? CW
  23. This is what most of us are using. ESP if a lift is on the adjenda. Looks a bit different, but don't worry, she will bolt right in!! CW
  24. Thank you very very much for all the well wishes!!! I do very much appreciate them. I knew there was a number of "Cardiac club" members here but I had no idea!!! Yea, the new diet.. Not a huge adjustment really. Overall, I didn't eat awful, just too much. I definitely excessed on bad stuff too often. Say I'd have frozen waffles for breakfast. I'd think nothing of a half a stick + of butter for 6 waffles. Or half a doz eggs and couple o'pieces of toast, again with too much butter. Biscuts and sausage gravy.. yup not often but when I saw it on the menu it was on my plate. Lunch I was 90% good, I don't like any of the fast food places. Dinner almost as good, plenty of veggies and fairly good meats. (Lotsa venison and Striped bass) I am quite active although I never go to the gym. I walk up to 10 miles daily ALWAYS 5-6. ALWAYS hauling, lifting or carring something. Just like you guys, I work on my Jeeps on the week ends, pulling motors and swapping trannys or suspensions. Its been abit slower this past fall with my back issues, but I'm still out there. Now, I know I'm a bigger guy a bit heavy, but not what the average person would consider fat. My docs say I should be 180#.. Do you have any idea of how anorexic I would look @ 180#???  I could see 210-220#... Yesterday at the Hospital, I was 71.75" and 111Kg (244lbs). I have a fairly athletic build with a 55" chest and a 38" waist. Over the past two months I have actually lost 20 pounds. (I was 263 on the button November 3, 2008@ the docs for my check up) About Nov 1st last year, I quite soda 100% and cut the beer in half. This was a suprise for sure.... My cholesterol was not awful but a bit on the high side of regular, pretty much the same for my sugar. Although I do have some placking, my heart attack was from a blood clot and I don't know where it came from. But I'll find out!! I'm getting tired, so its back to my chair for the day... Thanks again guys, I really appreciate the suggestions, experiences and of coarse the well wishes!! CW
