This Valentines thing started first thing this AM.... Chocolates and cards. Then a small gift with a couple little of here favorite things. Then she had to go to work!! :( :fs1: Then I called the florist and had a couple dozen roses sent to her at work. I do this so all the girls she works with can see her get them. ALWAYS labeled something saucy and signed secret admirer or superman... (They will always sneak peeks at the label too) Lastly I am cooking dinner right now for her and I, followed by a movie and bed. ;) :brows: Somethinmg I learned long ago, you need to take care of momma!! (You need to know my wife. She spends almost NOTHING on herself, but will buy me most anything. Say we are watching TV and I make a favorable comment about something we see... With in a couple days its here for me. I have FINALLY gotten family members to stop giving here cash money as a gift. Nothing, store cards or gifts only as she will take the $$ and pay a bill or something. SO, every chance I get, I do something for her.) CW

Squeeky Speedo Cable...?
CWLONGSHOT replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would start at the bottom, alt ho is more likely that the top is where the problem is. Notice the orientation of the "C" shaped bracket that holds in the speedo gear. there are two Lil ""tits" that index the retainer. The bottom is easier and you will need to get under there to unbolt the DS LCA nut anyhow. That is where the factory attached the speedo cable. You will need this "slack" to get the dash apart anyhow. CW -
A spacer gos on top of your front coil springs. The effectively "lift" the height of there thickness. Keeping that thickness to 1.75 you can get away with your shocks, but longer ones may still be necessary as well. Adjusting the track bar isn't necessary, but you may notice the axle shifted slightly toward the Drivers side after lift. Yes, a shackle is what is at the rear end of your leaf springs. Yours are 5.5" eye to eye. To lift the rear up 2" with a shackle only, you will need to go 4" longer eye to eye. this is because your only lifting the axle from one end of the spring. Going to a shackle that long is NOT advised! But 2" longer will net you about an additional inch over what you have now. Like I said in the first post, no lift is really necessary anyhow. this coupled with the tail high "attitude" of a MJ and you will get a more level look with a bit more height. Its like a BUDGET BOOST lift. CW

Squeeky Speedo Cable...?
CWLONGSHOT replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hows the needle, does it "bounce"? Graphite dry lube is a good one, sometimes it has a alcohol carrier but either way, you will have to remove at least one end, both would be better... CW -
Which ones what? Tires??? Or spacers and shackles? Anyones spacers, most are 1.75" but some make a real 2" thickness. Look at eye to eye measurements. I have used the DAYSTAR shackles at 7.5" eye to eye, I wouldn't go any longer than that. CW

The pic isn't great being a screen grab, but where is the bed gap???? Looks like a lower door gap down near the rockers too.... CW

Check your ceramic ballast resistor on the drivers fender. It adjusts/maintains voltage to the fuel pump.. CW

First off you don't "need" 3" to fit 31" tires... If you just want to lift it some fine, but its not necessarry. Maybe throw in a spacer up front and a longer shackle out back if you HAD to do something... :dunno: CW

Looks like a chop job to me!! The lines behind the cab and on top of the bed are wrong...Also wheel base, looks short to me... I see it does have the cab vent covers like or from a MJ too.... CW

Aren't you on blood thinners? (Trying to remember who also had heart troubles like me) I haven't gotten anything in or problems with my eyes. But bruising is much more common since last January!! I was NEVER easily bruised. heck, I cracked a vertebrae and pulled two ribs from my spine and barely had visible bruising!! (2003) Hopefully its nothing, likely as mentioned a simple broken blood vessel. GOOD LUCK!! CW

I don't know about quality, buy JCWHITNEY has the carpet as well as vinyl matt for our trucks... CW -
Just a clarification... Your shackles are 2" eye to eye (VERY SHORT!) or 2" longer than stock MJ shackles? (7 1/2" long eye to eye) If you wanna stay stock length I like to recommend the JKS XJ extended shackle. its good for about a 1.5 lift on a XJ but will do little to nothing to lift a MJ. the advantage is its boomerang style and WAY heavy duty compared to the factory thin units. I gotta say the thread SOUNDS good.... but its been said that a picture is worth a thousand words.... :brows: :brows: :brows: CW

EXACTLY!! ... Just for clairty, Stock XJ shackles are approx 3.5" eye to eye and stock MJ shackles are approx 5.5" eye to eye. CW

The fact that you need ear protection to listen to your stereo is ridiculous. Willy Willy, I totally agree, a totally senseless wast of time, money and effort. Don't get me wrong, a nice sounding stereo is something I too enjoy. Buy pushing the envelope to ear drum busting levels is complete foolishness. Buy a nice head unit, and a good quality brand of speakers. You will enjoy a quality listening experience, and well as keep your hearing till the end of your days ..... I have about a 150$ Alpine head unit and excellent quality Infinity speakers. My fronts are component 5 1/4's with separate tweeters and crossovers. Then 4x6 in the rear in fact locations. I have thought about a small amp a couple times, but its not necessary as this setup affords me plenty of good quality sound. CW

LOOKS NICE!!! How did you truss it? Got pics? CW

how can i make my engine run cooler?
CWLONGSHOT replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I fear your problem is why XJ/MJ's don't make the best plow rigs..... With out redesigning the whole system, its just the way it is..... Its part of my problem as well. Now, I don't have the plow, but I do have a winch that partially blocks the radiator. You say you have a good/new radiator. Is it a 2 or 3 row? How is the fluid? Is it new or no older then last years? How about the mix ratio? 50/50 is about the best balance. A Hi flow, pump, T-Stat and water neck will help. Forget about a stat that opens colder then 180, even that's effects are minimal. How is the Heater core? How about the clutch fan? Oh yea, get a fan shroud!! Its important!! Even with everything working perfectly, if you block the radiator and make the motor work harder, you will have heat build up while restricting the radiators ability to cool it off. CW -
Rear Suspension/Bed "Thunk"
CWLONGSHOT replied to comanche09's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think this could be it. Would better shocks help with it? I have the cheapo Monroe base shocks. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Take them off and go for a ride!! NOT fast mind you, but if the noise is gone... you will know for sure. Handling will be touchy, so don't go far or leave them off long. CW -
I have it in my MJ. It works just fine and allows for 2WD LO as well!! CW
