  1. Nice job!! CW
  2. Hubbell, Looks GREAT!! I like it allot and commented in your thread! GOOD JOB!! Yesterday, I took it fishing!! Only caught two small 14" bass and a nice 12" perch... but it was nice day so well worth the trip! Today I added a piece of 1/2" round stock for a safety chain mount. First I bent up a piece of stock. Than I tried a couple positions. Cleaned off all the paint and re clamped for welding.. MAN it was NO FUN welding upside down with slag dropping down your shirt, shorts and up your sleeves... Then I painted everything up... Image Not Found Its on and will suite my needs just fine! CW
  3. I have been using the trailer allot in the past two weeks... Mostly because its on the MJ daily... Anyway, I need a place to keep ratchet straps, tie downs and the like. I have a bunch of 50cal ammo cans, but just don't like the mounting options, I had a 12x8x16" box bolted in the back of my TJ for many years. It was nice for anything that needed locked safely and securely. Well, it came out last year and its been kicking around the garage. Today it got a new home... the trailers left side! I welded in a 12" piece of 1/8" x 2.5" angle iron to the side of the frame for the box to sit on. Then a 1.25" X 3/16" steel welded from the front upright to the next one back, 26" away. I drilled and bolted the box with 3/8 bolts and nylock nuts. Finally I put a weld on the threads to secure the box. I could cut it off if needed. I was going to weld it on, but decided against it at the last minute. Then my last tidbit of security before adding the pad lock: CW
  4. GOOD idea on the spare mount I really like it!!! Also good look with the 285/16 tires on Ruby rims!! I will have a set of these rims soon and the 285 is the size I am looking at. I am unsure of what tire to run. Most everyone knows, I have always been a BFG proponent, they are excellent tires. But the new Goodyear KEVLAR is really calling me... I also see the KUMHO MTKL71 tires.. I also read your not running spacers? How is the tire contact? Do the ruby rims have the same 5.25 BS as std Jeep rims? How did you like them? I have an opportunity at a brand new, unmounted set for a very good price. But know nothing of them. I also ran across a good price on MAXXIS Buckshot mudders in the same size.. $165 ea. Tempting..... CW
  5. Looks good! Mr kilo, foxtrot, seven, kilo, echo, kilo... :D Whoa there.. We need more than that!! One Lil pic and no explanations?!?! Do you have a build thread yet? Lets hear all about that!! It's your turn to brag a Lil!! CW

  7. Eagle, Thank you for the history lesson. The name change from Decoration day to Memorial day is something that's not taught any longer. I remember as a child hearing both names. Be that as it may, and let me be crystal clear, no disrespect in intended. I will continue to show my respect and verbal thanks every chance I get, by thanking every veteran or active service person I meet. Also by such posts as I have done here for those fellows whom I know thru words but have never actually meet. I realize we have other days set aside for living veterans and active personnel. But the way I was brought up, respect is earned and respect should be shown. It brings to mine a saying, "all paid some, some paid all". Respect is not something set aside for certain days or times of the year. It should be shown as often as possible, by holding a door, offering someone else to go first, helping an older person, visiting a cemetery on a "memorial day" and of coarse, by thanking a service person. In my mind, it doesn't take one single iota from one person or another, be they diseased or active or a vet as your self. I will thank every one of you that I meet. I will reflect on those who have passed whom I cannot thank. Simply stated, I am who I am, more over, WE ARE what and who WE ARE because of these peoples sacrifices. Eagle, Thank you for your service. we have what we have solely because of the sacrifice of service personnel such yourself. "All paid some, some paid all." CW
  8. Thanks Brian - I have seen several good running 4.0 for $200 or less...that will leave some cash for Bill for the install! should we go get this? Tell me when and I'll be there... my MJ is purring like a kitten again... CW

  11. Swapped my cracked exhaust manifold for a new one!! CW
  12. Got out to the garage about 8 AM and started the exhaust manifold swap, done before noon... Went really smooth. The one casuality was the throttle linkage. Where the cable runs thru the square hole on the side of the intake. i snapped the plastic 'block'. I think I have a spare or two.. The manifold has some really bad cracks!! Took about 4 hours taking my time. Its running and sounding nice and quiet!!! Gotta go re tighten everything up and call it done!! Burning off the fingerprints and heat curing the paint... CW
  13. 55 and sunny here @ 5AM.. Its almost 65 now. . kinda overcast. Connecticut that is... CW
  14. I Salute all our VETS and people currently serving this great country of ours. As you eat the hot dogs, burgers and drink some beers. Take the time to remember all those who have fallen and served to allow us to enjoy this weekend. It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion. It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the VETERAN, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote. It is the VETERAN who salutes the Flag, God Bless you and Thank you. CW
  15. Here is a link to another BBS I frequient. there is an ongoing thread on daily carry knives... Some super people over there. http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php/ ... 137.0.html CW
  16. There is another good name... CRKT.. I have a couple of these and really like the M16 line... There is a couple sizes to choose, they have a double lock and are assisted opening. nice knife. hard steel, nor so easy to get an edge on, but it holds it pretty good... its in your price range as well... CW
  17. OME ROCKS!! Next to Bilstein they are my favorite and most recommended!! CW
  18. I couldn't have said it myself..
  19. 1/4"? Damn, your leafs will start to sag. 20 gauge is plenty. Darren is correct, HD, strong are good but remember your mounting them in stock position, its sheet metal!! SOMETHING has to give... Would you rather have a busted tail lite or a wrinkled fender?? Build then too stout, and you'll not have much of a fender left to attach them too if you start hitting stuff with them!!! CW
  20. Agreed, but something is better than nothing and if it does work, I'm better off... if it fails.. well the manifold would have rusted anyhow, rite? Directions on the can, (As long as I'm reading correctly... the type is mighty small.) Run for 15 min, cool for 30, run for another fifteen, cool for 30 then your done.. the paint is cured on the engine.... You know I'll tell you what happens... :brows: CW
  21. Received and painted up the new exhaust manifold! CW
  22. The manifold arrived today... GOTTA LOVE QUADRATEC!!! I ordered Yesterday and its on my door step today! The best part, NO EXTRA CHARGES!!! First thing I did was drill out the spot welds on the warm up preheat tube... I looked it over and found that the welds of the tubes to the flange where quite obtrusive. they protruded over a quarter inch in some places into the runners. I know it won't make much of a difference, but out came the air grinder and I smoothed them up nicely!! Then I taped off the gasket surfaces and threaded bungs and cleaned it off with carb cleaner and acetone. Then shot it with a coat of Plastikote, aluminized header paint. Part and gasket numbers: Install this weekend! CW
  23. I have seen a couple very clean rear tail light blockouts. Then some 2x6 led lites added in as a replacement. I really like the look, its something I would like to do one day. Working with sheetmetal like this is not something I have dione. . . yet... :brows: CW
  24. A simple search with "rear proportioning valve" netted this 24 page result... Our search can be inaccurate, but it does work. search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&keywords=rear+proportioning+valve&start=0 Here is a couple from the first page: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23401&p=241535&hilit=rear+proportioning+valve#p241535 viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23265&hilit=rear+proportioning+valve viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23189&hilit=rear+proportioning+valve viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17968&hilit=rear+proportioning+valve viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22773&hilit=rear+proportioning+valve I too have been there and done that. I ran mine with out the valve and blocking the return line for a long time. no issues at all! Every single PU I have had locked up the rear brakes first, its never been an issue. Eliminating the rear prop valve and swapping in a XJ prop valve with the MJ's junction block under the master cylinder IMHO is our best choice. CW
