is a tj d30 a direct bolt in?
CWLONGSHOT replied to shawn's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
To answer you question, YES as each of these axles (Lo Pinion TJ D30 and hi pinion MJ D30) left the factory they are completely interchangeable. As stated, its a slightly weaker axle with a lower pinion. Only a consideration if your running big tires and wheeling it. Just a 4WD with med sized tires running class 6 roads you will be just fine with it. CW -
A few more 8.8 questions
CWLONGSHOT replied to 88pioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
IIRC its just a sensor for the FORD electronics. I ground the entire part off the top of my axle for clearance when I put the 8.8 in mt TJ. You do not need it. CW -
ABSOLUTELY!!! ANY of my CC brothers, end up here in CT, drop me a line! I'd love to meet you and I'll supply the beers! CW

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
CWLONGSHOT replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
EXCELLENT!! I like it, the truck looks great!! I too have the clear corner lights. They look good! I looked hard at the Goodyear Duratrac's. In the 16" I wanted the load range "E" turned me away. How do you like them? CW -
WHO IS HE ? Ever wondered why no one ever came forward from Obama's past saying they knew him, attended school with him, was his friend, etc. Not one person has ever come forward from his past. VERY, VERY STRANGE... This should really be a cause for great concern. To those who voted for him, you have elected the biggest unqualifed fraud that America has ever known. Sort of adds credence to the idea of The Manchurian Candidate thing happening here! George Stephanopoulos, of ABC News. said the same thing during the 2008 campaign. He too was a classmate of Obama's at Columbia class of 1984. He said he never had a single class with him. While he is such a great orator, why doesn't anyone in Obama's college class remember him? And, why won't he allow Columbia to release his records? NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA ! Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there, but none remembered him. Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama, a political science major at Columbia who also graduated in 1983. In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me. I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia . EVER! Nobody recalls him. Root adds that he was also, like Obama, "Class of '83 political science, pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that." Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him. At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack! And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was. The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New York, the macha who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him." Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's yearbook and Obama consistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia, provide school records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friend while at Columbia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayne_Ally ... column-one NOTE: Root graduated as Valedictorian from his high school, Thornton-Donovan School , then graduated from Columbia University in 1983 as a Political Science major in the same class that Barack Hussein Obama was supposed to have been in. Some Other Interesting Questions.. Why was Obama's law license inactivated in 2002? Why was Michelle's law license inactivated by Court Order? It is circulating that according to the U.S. Census, there is only one Barack Obama but 27 Social Security numbers and over 80 aliases. The Social Security number he uses now originated in Connecticut where he is never reported to have lived. No wonder all his records are sealed! How did he become eligible to run for president of the United States with no background of being an American Citizen? And we are concerned with illegals coming in these United States over our borders without a green card????????????????? Pass this on to everyone... Pass it across America !

I would say: 1) The D44 rear axle W/Detroit Locker 2) Bilstein shocks 3) New Tires ;) (Wipers too) CW

THANK YOU PETE!! :agree: Yesterday when I returned with the new tires, the MJ would not start. More correctly, it turned over then stopped abruptly. Then nothing, no click no nothing. The battery had 12.5 volts. Once started it showed 14.2V to the battery. So I was relatively certain the charging system was good AND the battery is new and checked out fine as well. It started right up with a jump. Also every couple days the idle would jump to 1100 or so in drive. I thought maybe I had a poor connection at the TPS from the header swap. Now I am thinking maybe the cracked neg cable was the culprit. If that was not enough, I didn't drive it for 3-4 days while I waited for the tail pipe and when I went to start it, it wouldn't. For the starting problem, I checked everything and decided it must be the solenoid on the starter. I have a couple on the shelf so I cleaned up a 1990 XJ factory, Mitsubishi built starter and swapped it out. While I was at it I swapped for some new batt cable ends. If you remember, I just put on a new set month ago, well the neg cracked already!!! I put on the steel "non lead" connectors. It starts good, idles better, guess that poor connection was effecting more then I realized!!! The MJ is gonna sit now for a couple days while I go off to play in the TJ in New Hampshire!! I'm thinking when I get home, its gonna start right up!!. CW

Dasbulliwagen, is correct!! Mine are 2006 Ruby rims, 5 on 4.5 x 16" cast painted. I swapped the starter and put on some new battery cable ends on. CW

Exactly, its not the size of the tow vehicle as much as its its weight! The Lil Libby is actually a pretty good tow vehicle (with in its weight limitations) as its quite heavy for its size!! CW

Another TIRE thread...
CWLONGSHOT replied to CWLONGSHOT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OUCH!!! Gotta admit you picked a goodun, But DAMN!!! $$$$.00 Getting into 4 digits for a set of tires is definitely out of my "wife's" price range. :thwak:  :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: I'm sure you'll enjoy um for many miles to come. Yea, I hear you... But like I explained, that's what they cost... The online tire places kinda suker you in with a lo per piece cost. Once you factor in the shipping (25-30 EA), mount/balance 15-25 EA), road hazard (8-15EA) + tire cost. Then you have to wait for them to arrive. I also prefer to support local retailers for the convenience they offer. In this case $225+30+10+13= $278per tire or $1390.00 for ON-LINE purchase, delivered to my door. I'll be paying just under $1500, so about 100 more. I can live with that. CW -
I to have noticed increased wear of the rear shoes. I say so what? They are cheap insurance and easy to change. IMHO a good trade off for good brakes!! CW

I agree! I have tried towing a vehicle with a similarly sized vehicle and experienced the same things mvusse explained here.. IMHO, do not do it accept for emergencies. CW

Looks good Pat!! CW

I got the "tail pipe" on today!!! Well, its just a 7' 2.5" stick of exhaust tube, run tight up under the bed. I have almost 12" of clearance between the top of the axle and the bottom of the exhaust pipe. I have two hangers, one at the back of the muffler and one just before the pipe terminates at the rear bumper with a slash cut pipe. It sounds GREAT!! I have a video uploading, but its a big one... ;) Here it is with the tail pipe installed...MUCH BETTER!!! CW
