  1. No first official model year for the Comanche was 1986. I know what your saying, made in '85 is a 1985... Kinda like there was no 1896 YJ.. just a 1995 continued and then a 1997 was the TJ.. Kinda stupid. CW
  2. Today was forecast to be a wash out... rain showers with some thunder all day.. well it was gray and the rain kinda only spit here and there but didn't actually rain till about an hour ago and even that is now done. SO, I didn't plan anything but clean up round the house and garage. I was able to work on the MJ and trailer all day long!!! I picked up some 3/4" x 1/8" steel and I made up two mounts for the "fish eye" mirrors that I was using as my side view mirrors. I tried some of those stick on blind spot jobbers but they suk. Now I have 4" blind spot mirrors, MAN I can see from a foot in front of my back tire to well over the roof and about 10-15' of the sides. Pass side view from drivers seat: Drivers side view, again from drivers seat: With the lack of rain, I tried some Meguiars color X I picked up. the rattle can paint has never been waxed and has oxidised pretty badly. This stuff is supposedly easy to use and fast. It was pretty easy and here is a shot of the drivers side done and the pass side untouched: CW
  3. I gotta tell you that's quite a stretch. I mean yes it will make a difference, but its so freakin' small its never gonna make enough of a difference to ever worry about. Math isn't my strong suit, but a quick calculation shows a bit over 3" of lift to the rear on a long wheel base MJ equates to one degree of caster change up front. IF nothing is changed up front. CW
  4. I checked the rims, I cannot see the back but nothing for size on the front facing surfaces. Your correct though, I too have seen the sizes molded right into the rim. I have herd different BS numbers for these rims as well. This removes all doubt. 4.75" is what the BS of a 2005 16"X8" Rubicon rim is. CW
  5. Pete, it does for me two the first time... try again. CW
  6. http://videosift.com/video/Fully-Functi ... iper-Rifle LOL funny stuff.. CW
  7. Most if not all air is removed if you keep squeezing the upper hose as you fill the system. People make a much bigger case out of the accursed "air bubble" than is really necessary. As long as you fill the system properly, check and refill after a couple short runs. Air accumulates at the highest point. in the 4.0 that's the bottle. The engine is lo in the rear and higher in the front. The upper hose is even higher then the engine. So trapping air or any appreciable amount of air in the back of the block is not really a worry. Squeezing the hose will move it out as you fill. I know yours is a 2.5, these have even less issues with air. More so because they are not as popular as the 4.0. So not as many people out there to create so much miss information about them. :shake: :shake: CW
  8. I could not find one. I just spliced in to the rear harness. Be sure you do it correctly, with a soldering gun, dielectric grease and shrink tubing. Strip all wires, slide on a piece of shrink tubing, twist together and solder them. Bright is tite. Allow to cool and slide shrink tubing over connection and heat again. At least good electric tape and shielding for the new wires then cover that with more tape at the ends when your done. attach it securely to cross-members so nothing grabs it on the road. Lastly pick a good grounding spot and clean the steel well before attaching the wire with dielectric grease to stop corrosion. For sanity's sake, run a ground wire on the trailer instead of relying on just the ball for your ground. CW
  9.   Looking good!! CW
  10. Wix is the way to go! Its quite possible you just got a faulty filter. DON'T do fram, its not funny at all....  :D CW
  11. I agree, if your getting DW after the lift and your Caster is only 5 degrees. Could defineately be a large contributing factor. Couple other comments confuse me. Nothing you could do to the shackles will have anything to do with the front end of your truck. Camber is not adjustable. Unless you want to try those fancy balljoints. As for shims, you can make them if you cannot find them to purchace. http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoAlignment.htm Good luck, CW
  12. Where did you find a breather elbow? JY?? CW
  13. Man that does blow... Very sorry to hear this. Please accept my condolences. CW
  14. Stella Awards It's time again for the annual 'Stella Awards'! For those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued the McDonald's in New Mexico , where she purchased coffee. You remember, she took the lid off the coffee and put it between her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could get burned doing that, right? That's right; these are awards for the most outlandish lawsuits and verdicts in the U.S. You know, the kinds of cases that make you scratch your head. So keep your head scratcher handy. Here are the Stellas for this past year -- 2009: *SEVENTH PLACE* Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The store owners were understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son. Start scratching! * SIXTH PLACE * Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles , California won $74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps. Scratch some more... * FIFTH PLACE * Terrence Dickson, of Bristol , Pennsylvania , who was leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the garage. Unfortunately for Dickson, the automatic garage door opener malfunctioned and he could not get the garage door to open. Worse, he couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the garage to the house locked when Dickson pulled it shut. Forced to sit for eight, count 'em, EIGHT days and survive on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he sued the homeowner's insurance company claiming undue mental Anguish. Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish. We should all have this kind of anguish. Keep scratching. There are more... Double hand scratching after this one.. *FOURTH PLACE* Jerry Williams, of Little Rock, Arkansas, garnered 4th Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500 plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next door neighbor's beagle - even though the beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as he asked for because the jury believed the beagle might have been provoked at the time of the butt bite because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly shot the dog with a pellet gun. Pick a new spot to scratch, you're getting a bald spot.. * THIRD PLACE * Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania because a jury ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113,500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and broke her tailbone. The reason the soft drink was on the floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument. What ever happened to people being responsible for their own actions? Only two more so ease up on the scratching.... *SECOND PLACE* Kara Walton, of Claymont , Delaware sued the owner of a night club in a nearby city because she fell from the bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two front teeth. Even though Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club had to pay her $12,000....oh, yeah, plus dental expenses. Go figure. Ok. Here we go!! * FIRST PLACE * This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was: Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who purchased new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down? $1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in case Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home. Are we, as a society, getting more stupid.... or are more members of Congress serving on juries these days?
  15. Good luck with it! CW
  16. I know it would suk to loose your wheeling spot, but think of the poor bastards who's cars where stolen, driven out there and trashed. That's quite likely what and where these cars came from. CALL THE AUTHORITIES! CW
  17. Just run a new line front to back and toss the rear prop valve. Get yourself a 96 Dakota rear line while your at it. Bleed the system one last time and call it done. CW
  18. I know its hard to see whats happening, but I'll bet that there is some junk in the hole stopping the tool from entering far enough not to round out. Clean out the hole, get a correctly sized tool and "persuade it all the way in. Even if you need to sacrifice it and buy new pins. It will be worth it. CW
  19. I didn't dismount the Ruby rims to measure. But they are supposed to be 16x8" wide. The phone dials are 15X7. CW
  20. No compressor, no tool. Might be worth the 40 mile drive to borrow my brothers. But would like to do it without. Air tools are definitely on my list though. Instead of a compressor, why not make yourself up a CO2 on board air system? Its about the same or slightly less than the compressor. Works great and is FAR more powerful and useful to you as a jeep owner... Keep it in the jeep when wheeling to air up tires and run air tools. You can get a tank many places for little to nothing. The regulator is available on EBay for 30-50 bucks. What about a neighbor or friend more local? Its one bolt. Break it loose, re-tighten by hand. Gingerly drive home and swap it, drive back and torque it down...done. CW
  21. I changed the oxygen sensor. To the best of my knowledge, that was the factory stock sensor! I also got my Centramatics in the mail yesterday, so those went on along with the set of RUBY rims and MT/R's. I'm gonna run them for a week or so and see how I like them. If they are OK, I'll leave them till I get the new ones in the fall. The tire size is stock Ruby, 245x75x16's. So they are just over 31" tall. A might smaller then the 32+" of the 33x.5x15 BFGs that I took off. I can live with that... I think. :dunno: Then I had to make a repair to the exhaust. like many of you guys my center mount on the tranny for the exhaust is shot... I made up a new mount from the front of the cat with a U Bolt and a piece of steel. Its a solid mount, but so far is just fine. I bent up a piece of 1/8" x1" steel. and drill a couple holes. In bending the steel I needed to twist it 90degrees and add a slight bend. That made it too short. So I had to add a washer to get it right. Welded it all together and it comes out perfect. The exhaust is now rock solid. CW

  23. I mounted up the Ruby rims on the MJ today. Got the ruler out and measured there BS. Guess what, its 4.75"!! Kinda figure it was less as the Ruby uses a wider tire with side biters (MT-R) and there flairs are wider to accommodate. But I haven't had any that I could measure till now. I already knew the number, but also measured the phone dial jeep rims my BFG MT's are mounted on. They are 5.25". Now the pic shows 5 3/8" but the straight edge was up on the lip of the rim giving it an additional 1/8". If anyone else can provide pictures and information please feel free to update this thread. Maybe it can be a source for information on a active topic here on C.C. CW
  24. Pat, You have grown up, rite in front of our eyes, GOOD JOB MAN!! Yup, I agree, your thinking of your future and planning things out, another good job for you! Your first comment brings a saying to mind. Now, this has nothing specifically to do with you and its not a slight, just a saying. "Its better they think your an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt." Yea GPS is a way of the future, kinda a pain for the "man" to keep his thumb on you. We use a HVAC company that tracks its guys and trucks with such a system and they are always complaining about it. I don't know that I could work with it either. Guess it would depend on my immediate boss and the relationship with him. They could really bust your balzz if he/she didn't like you. As for the job, its just that. There are and will be others, do what have to till you find something better. Then move, keep your 'feelers" out. Don't get stagnant in a dead end job and "settle" there for too long. Keep a positive attitude and balance kissing @$$ with saying no. But don't be defeatist and when you say no don't bet super rigid and have good solid reasons for the no. Like human safety or expensive equipment expenses. You will find some place that appreciates you and what you bring to the table. CW
