  2. Thanks for the pic.. it went in my AWESOME JEEP SHOTS folder!! That's one GOOD LOOKIN' 'manche you have there!! CW
  3. Again, I didn't say it was a track-loc. I said it was a traction aide. Or rather, I responded to Auto Man, who said it was a traction aid and I disagreed, saying that yes they did...  :waving: I do not remember the designation, but will say the Quadra Drive is what we had. It worked perfectly in that vehicle! You know I know what a locked vehicle drives like and that acted much like one!! The way it would accelerate, from a standing stop on dry pavement was awe inspiring!! Like I said, I drove many others looking for a new one for her and all would smoke one front tire if you tromped on it... CW
  4. When I ran the spacers on my Superior axles I had to trim them shorter... Your local parts store should have replacements.... CW
  5. Ahh.. But they did!! It was in the WJ!! To my knowledge you are correct tho, none offered in the YJ,TJ,XJ,MJ. I had one in 2007, it was a 1999WJ Limited H.O. 4.7L V8. I do not remember the T-case designation, but it had front and rear LS diffs. I bought it from a family friend and they where orig. owner, never did anything to it but factory service. After it was totaled in an accident, I began the search for a replacement. I drove about 10-15 none had this option and with out it the V8 would simply spin one tire in the front and one in the rear under hard acceleration. Hers wouldn't spin at all. (Dry pavement) It was like a good sports car, stab the pedal and hang on, it would set you back in the seat! CW
  6. How so? Shorter? Longer?. . . . CW
  7. The difference in the WJ axle is the width of the actual CA mounts. There actual position on the axle is just fine and the axle WILL bolt in, but you will need to shim the axle ends OR swap to WJ arms and adjust the MJ frame end CA brackets. Then you need to make other significant changes. The steering is different, the hubs and the wheel bolt pattern is also different. It is also a LO-Pinion axle and the common WJ ratio is 3:73 its NOT a common one in our MJ's... The 2000 XJ axle is a direct bolt in. But don't mix parts. The dimensions of the hubs, rotors and calipers are different between your axle and the 2000. So use everything from your axle OR everything from the 2000. Whats the reason for the swap? I only ask because it may be a good time for a ratio upgrade!! CW

    Oops!

Chalk it up to experience... Live and learn as they say... CW
  9. I just dropped the hammer on a full-case Detroit Locker for the D44 in the MJ. The ECTED is coming out and will be returned for a replacement. then the new replacement unit will be sold on EBay. (Lessin' one of you fellers wants it!) CW
  10. Gasket isn't really necessary. RTV works well, but you need to clean the surfaces very well. Dry them off and apply a thin bead to the cover. then allow this to set for a short time. Then install but do not tighten more than light finger tite. After about a half hour go ahead and torque it down and your ready to fill it!! You shouldn't get gobs squeezing out around the edges. CW
  11. I have that on my TJ. Its been on for a couple years now and works GREAT!! CW
  12. The factory wiring will be fine for any street legal lighting. CW
  13. Here is a link to a upload site from users of the camera.. http://www.youtube.com/epicstealthcam CW
  14. If you go thru my build, you will find pic of the bases I made up to use the Whitney racing seats I have in the MJ. Do you have access to a welder? I guess you could bolt it together, but welding is preferred... I also had to make up bases for the Corbeau suspension seats in my TJ. Those where from scratch, but with Corbeau sliders. CW
  15. HUH.. I checked it before posting and it worked.. now it don't... Try this... Its the 8th one down... CW
  16. Today I was leafing thru old mags looking on what to toss and I ran across this article in ON THE WATER about picture and video cameras. This little.. no TINY EPIC Stealth cam really caught my eye!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh1Of...eature=related Its small, water proof, light, simple to use, works on AAA batteries and films to a SD card... Best part is available for less than 100 clams!! I just ordered one off EBay!! Looks like just the ticket for the dash of the jeep or to check out what the suspension is doing off road. If your a fisherman/hunter for the rod/bow to film the action first hand!! Does anyone have one and what do you think? CW
  17. Yes, you do not NEED one. Sometimes it can be difficult with out it but there are a couple "tricks" that will make the job easier. First do not remove the caps completely. Remove the bolts and re-install with a couple threads turned in to the case. Tow big screw drivers is the norm and pry it out. I like to use my head more then my brawn. Throw a socket on one of the ring gear bolts, reach around to the ring gear and turn it. Now put a wrench on it and turn, the leverage that this produces will generally "pop" the carrier out. Sometimes a bit of prying is required. All depending on how tite the case/shim combo is... CW
  18. I like it allot, reaming its too hard. The Pitman arm is harder..cause its harder.  Read all about it in my build thread. Most years will work just fine, as will ZJ and TJ setups. ZJ V8 setups will be heavier duty. CW
  19. Pete, I Know you got what you needed, but I'm just able to send you some now. (I was on this AM from work) I sent you a little bit, use it for the "cause". CW
  20. Hit the local pick-N-pull and grab a complete setup, Drag Link. Tie-rod, Pitman arm and tie-rod ends!! GREAT for trail spares!! If you where closer I could hook you up as all mine are running the JCR 1TON stuff so stock stuff is useless to me.. CW
  21. Well, I'm just about ready to drop the hammer on the Detroit Locker. Got a good price and got rid of one unit. Now I need to pull the cover and get the numbers off to Auburn for the replacement. (Tonight hopefully) In the mean time, I'll get the Detroit ordered and here along with the new bearings. Then swap everything in the first week (week end) in May. Watch for the pics... CW
  22. OK, I'll snap one tomarrow!! (Too dark here now...) CW
  23. Dropping a tank full of fuel is NOT FUN..ER!! LOL I have swapped pumps with the tank in place on lifted MJ's and its very doable. Pull it, replace the gasket and carefully re-install. CW
  24. I seriously considered doing this when I did my frame repairs.. The thought process resulted in my building me Jeep Trailer!! CW
