  1. I did this same thing last summer!! Same lights same positions. GREAT FIND!~!~ They are OK as far as briteness, not great but better than the stock ones that works occasionally... Another GREAT MOD, if you don't have them is the XJ kick panel lights. The wiring for them is already in your truck, just get the lights and plug them in!!! CW
  2. http://fknblazed.com/movies/snow.htm ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) :brows:
  3. This is what I did. EAGLE Did a nice bit of research and a good write up here some months(years) back. CW
  4. Pete, The 351W and 302 share the same basic exterior dimensions for the block. But its a taller motor thru the intake and heads. This is where a problem could arise in the MJ. A V8 MJ for the street would be way cool!! But for me a 4WD brings on the whole drive-line strength/will that's fit kinda thing. Sure its been done, and I know your running bigger FORD axles, but whats your tranny and T-case for this? I believe the ford T-case drop is wrong. You could flip a 300 and get the strength you need, but then there is the expense..... CW
  5. I did this quite a ways back. Lots of us have. EAGLE did lots of research and has a good write up with pics. AT first I just eliminated it. My rear lines where rusted and leaking so I did everything at once, all new lines from the front to back. It worked fine, a bit touchy with full brakes to the rear axle, BUT PERFECTLY SAFE. Then, I swapped in a XJ Proportioning valve form one of the chops I have done. CW
  6. You are safe at any legal posted speed. Personally, I limit my speed when in 4WD. (30-40MPH) If I feel I need 4WD, the weather conditions are pretty bad. Why compound that by driving too fast for road conditions. But that's just me. CW
  7. ... It sure is on the axle side. There is a Lil bracket, that goes under the diff cover bolts. You can see it in both the pics. I agree, It looks like its missing in your photo. Running like that, you are doing all your braking with the front brakes only. NO TO SAFE!!! To better describe whats happening when that "proportioning" valve in the back is working correctly. With nothing in the bed, the flat "bar" should be level. If its above level, this will allow MORE braking to the rear. IE if the bed was loaded down and the extra weight would require more brake power. CW
  8. That is your factory level sensing, brake biasing valve. Comanches do not have a "regular" braking system. they do not have a proportioning valve to bias the brakes front to rear. This valve adjusts by the weight that's in your bed, more weight, more braking to rear axle. It also dosen't look to be attached correctly. The flat bar should be horizontal. IIRC. CW
  9. There are a bunch on EBay right now!! http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... category0= CW
  10. You might be able to get the old ones out with out a tool... that's a BIG MIGHT, but you would destroy the new ones beating them in... Don't be a tool....go get the proper tools. :D :brows: :D Seriously though, its much easier with the proper ball joint press. I have done this job dozens of times. I have done a couple with the cheapie Harbor freight tool, not great, but it worked. It flexes too much and much of your "power" is lost in the twisting. Some parts places "rent" for free aft leaving a returnable deposit. A buddie found a older, Snap-on press at a yard sale for 20 bucks, I gave him 40!!! Now its in MY BOX  good luck, CW
  11. Lots of stupid careless things have and will be done, doesnt make them right or correct. Follow your manual, stay out of 4WD on dry pavement. Shift on the fly to about 40mph only. I prefer to shift onto 4lo only at a stop, in neutral. A VERY slow roll is acceptable if you have a problem shifting. JMHO, CW

  18. Clamp the stub shaft in a good bench vice and remove nut with impact OR braker bar and LONG extention bar. Of coarse you need to remove cotter pin and guard first... CW
  19. The KJ gots a 3.7 auto, 8.25 29spl axle 3:73 gears and a LS diff. We just put a set of Goodyear Silent Armour 245-70-16's on it. NICE TIRE!! Sane tire we just put on the WJ!! Image Not Found As to the WJ... it died. About two months ago the wife go in a very bad accident with it...rolled it twice. Ultimately, it was totaled. My wife only hurt her elbow (slightly, nothing serious) when it broke the drivers side window. Seat belt bruises and she is fine. Other driver accused her of running a red light... It turns out he shouldn't be driving and HE RAN the light!!! Hit her right in the pass side front door and glanced reward into the pass side rear tire. The impact tore the rear axle almost completely out of the WJ!!! Lifted the trouk and flipped it so fast it never even touched the road with the roof!!!! Luckly, no one was really badly hurt, insurances paid all parties so we went out and bought this, it was her choice. She is the one driving it anyhow. I didn't really have an opinion on the Libby. Turns out I'm very impressed, I like it. CW

  22. Just leave the freakin thing alone!!! remove the calipers the way they are intended and once the thing is on the road, take it somewhere where the nut can be welded on and you will be AMAZED to se the bolt turn right out!!!! Remember welding creats increadible heat.... CW
  23. Yes and Yes... The D44 swap is VERY COMMON and covered here ad nausium. Do some searching and youll find everything you need. if there are any spfic questions that come up, fire away!! Comanches and Cherokes are almost adsolutely identicle from the doors forward. Only thing that come to mind that are for sure different are actual floor boards and seat bases. CW
  24. OH BOY!!  Looks like I missed a couple chapters between my responce and everyone elses!! Please disreguard last post... Only meant to spend a couple min's on EBay......time flys on there sometimes... ;) GLAD YOU GOT IT!!! CW
  25. OK, Thats it. Do you see those two rubber "lips"? Look inside, you will see a hex hole. These are the mounting studs the caliper mounts/rides on. These are the two bolts that need be removed to get the caliper off, not the ones you have removed. No harm don't, your way will work, but as you have seen, its MUCH HARDER!!! Glad you got it anyway!! CW
