I'd suggest you try to PM the poster, that's a 10yr old thread/post your responding too. Not sure if that person is even on here or active anymore.

Unfortunately there are several possible locations for water in the passenger floorboard. Check the rubber stopper that the radio antenna goes through, it's up in kick panel. They have been known to wiggle loose or even pop out. Push it in tight and cover it with Flex Seal or something similar, or brush on liquid rubber etc. Another common area is around the blower motor as noted above. The 30yr old foam seal more than likely has dry rotted. If you don't want to drill a hole you can put rubber seam sealer around the perimeter of the blower motor opening on the engine bay side. All that said, if you are gutting the interior for other repairs and maintenance, the best approach would be to pull the dash and replace the foam rubber seals around the blower motor, heater core and a/c lines if you have that. You may have to get your own foam rubber and cut to fit as the OE pieces are no longer made. You might get lucky and find them on eBay. Later model XJ pieces may work with some cutting, but I think the piece for the blower motor has a different shape than the early years and may not line up properly in the opening.

December 2020-scguy's 89 Refreshed Beater
WahooSteeler replied to 89 MJ's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
Congrats! One of my favorite MJs.....just has "that look" to it. Nice color, patina'd hood, great stance on the 4.5"/32s! -
2wd or 4wd?

Agreed, it was very surreal. Probably a real family struggle trying to get him to let go of all of it.

I remember seeing them on American Pickers, pretty cool. Bound to have some of the last NOS inventory on AMC stuff. American Pickers bought a Nash-Healey convertible from the guy IIRC.

It's legit, was announced this week. No way Jeep was gonna let the new Bronco steal it's thunder, especially after the big hit the Gladiator has been so far. Jeep HAD to do it, and it's going to be awesome IMO. Hats off to them for having the nuts to just say "screw Ford, throw the big dog under the hood!".

How to spend an entire afternoon changing a heater hose

THAT is the most absurd engineering design I've ever heard of, and on top of that, somebody also had to approve of the design! Unreal..... -
Time warp photo with all the cool 80s accessories on there!

The real question is, what car is actually underneath all that?? Looks like an 80s Malibu.......

ZJ D30 Interchangeable?
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That was why it seems reasonably priced to me. No locker on it, which I prefer it had one but is not a big deal. I don't wheel my truck, 4wd is mainly for winter and some mild trail running. I have a TrueTrac waiting to go in my rear when I re-gear it. -
ZJ D30 Interchangeable?
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I check car-part.com every so often and have bought parts off of there in the past. I am interested in this axle because it has been rebuilt by a shop and has 0 miles on it. Getting one from a yard carries more risk, ranted not much more risk than a used one on FB or Clist, but still. And let's not lose sight of the fact he is ASKING $350. I've been known to negotiate a good deal or two, and the fact he is moving 1000 miles and can't take it with him........there may be a deal to be had. -
ZJ D30 Interchangeable?
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A few clarifications upon closer reading of the sales ad. Seller bought it from a rebuilder that had put 4.10s, was going to put it under HIS 94 ZJ, so didn't necessarily come from a ZJ. Messaged him for some clarification. Doesn't appear to come with axle shafts etc, but looks like new ball joints and control arm bushings. Never was mounted/installed in his ZJ. Asking $350 -
ZJ D30 Interchangeable?
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's listed as an HP, rebuilt with 4.10s which is why I'm interested. I thought they were LP also but I can tell in the pic it's HP. -
Is a 94 ZJ D30HP interchangeable with my 88 MJ?

Power locks or manual? I know it happens on both, but just curious. My driver side does this sometimes also, especially when it's cold. I have power locks which will sometimes get it open after i open the pass side and start it for full juice to the locks. Otherwise, I have to reach across and lock it manually then give it a firm and fast push to unlock to get it to pop sometimes.

You're not going to sell it on FB or eBay for $5k??

It got me. (overheated)
WahooSteeler replied to tugboat95's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I battled overheating on my 88 even after new tstat, new pressure bottle w/Volvo cap (although that made HUGE difference), new water pump, and an "always on" electric fan thanks to the PO. OE radiator leak went from a slight drip to steady puddle after every drive. Decided to go open system and looked at all the radiator options and ended up going with a basic dual row Carquest/Spectra unit, plastic tanks etc. Eliminated the heater core valve, put new upper and lower hoses in and it hasn't budged past 210 since, generally running in the @185-190* range and that's even with disconnecting the "always on" electric fan. It's nice to not stress about overheating issues anymore and much simpler to maintain than the closed system IMO. Best single mod/upgrade I've done to my truck by a mile. -
Reupholstering door panels
WahooSteeler replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Eagle, I also looked in to a spray on coating that would add some level of waterproofing to the door card. I recall finding a few products that seemed like they would work, I didn't save any of the info though.
