  1. it cuts nicely, I bought one after I hacked up my fenders using the cut off wheel. wish I would have bought it first.
  2. It's been CRAZY warm here for the last 3 days. We're talking 21, 22, and 24 degrees C... That's like 70-75* for the southerners. Something has f'd up with the weather but I'm NOT gonna complain. I just hope it holds because I don't have any garage space unless I move the MJ - which the XJ is boxing in now. it's been stupid cold here, it's snowing in april. had to paint my bumer in the garage, and got all buzzed up on rustoleum.
  3. I drag the bumper, and I've damaged the passenger side lower quarter twice. It wouldn't be bad if I cut the lower half of the bed. WHen I build the new bed I'm cutting the frame back 4 inches, and mounting the bumper flush with it, that will vastly improve my departure angle. The bumper is stupid strong, so when I drop it on rocks I don't care, the bottom of it has several deep gouges in it. That's not to say I slam it on every line, sometimes it's just gonna happen, but I try to pick lines that are friendly to my wheelbase. If you learn to drive it for what it is it really does excel in the rocks and the steep hills.
  4. the other, cheap option is to put a washer under the stop screws at the knuckle. www.stu-offroad.com there's a writeup somewhere on there about it. You'll sacrifice some turning radius.
  5. all of the AWD/full time XJ/ZJ/WJ had solid axles, but I would just slide the vacuum collar over and lock it permanently. I think Mjeff posted up some phtos somewhere. an AWD street MJ would be kick @$$, I'm sure you can agree with me on that one. lol, i don't get all wheel drive...it's really not necessary all the time lol. it is if you really plan on driving it hard. I say get some beefy addco sway bars, poly bushings, maybe even drop the suspension an inch. Rock a limited slip 8.8 in the rear, with a full time case. You'll have traction to spare, and proably outhandle some cars.
  6. got a beefy air compressor? get a body saw, hands down the easiets way I've ever cut sheetmetal. It's like a small sawzall, with a jigsaw sized blade, really easy to manipulate. http://www.sjgreatdeals.com/airbodysaw.html
  7. the 34's are trail use only, that picture is with my 31" road tires. I'll be going on a trailride soon, so I can snap a pic with the 34's. Here's what they look like flexed, when I had 4" in the rear and 3" up front.
  8. SO, been a busy weekend. GOt trackbar installed, RE1600: Got coil spacers installed, added an inch, so it's a 4": Leveled it out nicely, not that it's on a slight incline to the rear: And I finally got the new bumper installed.

  10. everything you need to know for a home alignment: http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoAlignment.htm good luck.
  11. here's a homebrew fipk, http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/FIPK.html
  12. I ammend my thoughts again. Full time case from a grand, make it an awd street truck.
  13. you need any help with that let me know. I had one, I did a lot of wrenching on it. The rust in the back is pretty common, make sure you check the front x-member that the trans bolts too, mine was pretty ate up from the salt here. I think Mjeff has one too. Enjoy the mileage, I dare say that little 1.9L is as bulletproof as a 4.0.
  14. why so much lift for 33's? I can understand if you don't want to cut it up, it looks nice. but I've been running 34's on 3" of lift with those same wheels, I love the low CG. But I also cut up the fenders pretty aggressively.
  15. check the little connector betwwen the t-case output and the rest of the speedo cable. I cought mine on a rock in uwharrie, did the same thing. Put the cable back together and it's been held in place with a hose clamp for 8 months now, works fine.
  16. the front shaft has a cardan joint, so the pinion needs to point at the t-case output. You're going to have to make a compromise between pinion angle and caster.
  17. sweet then. Put a full time case in it, and make it the winter truck.
  18. that's a deal, I wouldn't mind having some of those, but can't bring myself to spend that kinda dough
  19. 4x4 conversion with a 242 full time case, 31's, winter beater.
  20. nope, not even close. drawtite makes one, but I think it's for a LWB.
  21. quadratec has them, crown auto parts, seemed just as good as the original I took off, $25 at my door.

    Eagle...

if you part that out, it *should* have 4.56 gears.
  23. are they gonna leave that 4runner there as lawn art?
  24. I swear I was on monroes site, and couldn't get anything but the one that asks you what your vehicle is, and that's obviously not gonna work. Thanks for the link Eagle. I'm guessing I need abou 15" compressed, and the longest I can get extended.
  25. yeah, it certainly flexes, when in the rocks I can see the bed mooving in relation to the cab. I like the cut and box rocker, check out www.madxj.com for a good writeup on two different styles. Lostissues: That looks good, and super strong, but don't those supports grab rocks?
