  1. check the fuseable link coming from the starter going into the cab. if it stretches, cut it off and run a wire to your battery with a fuse to the right amperage.
  2. just run some clean gas through the carb and it will be good. i suggest replacing the little 1'' filter in the carb. once this is done go to a auto parts store and get an inline filter. preferbly clear one so you can see what running through it. the extra filter will do magic in terms of filtering out debris and its not enough drag to actually hinder the carb. i would do a test to make sure the mechanical pump is pushing enough fuel at the right psi. i believe its 4-7 PSI and it should come out nicely not on/off/on/off
  3. sometimes you can get double double Cardon shafts. a bit pricey but very smooth operation and much longer lasting
  4. you may want to get new U-Bolts and fasteners for the rear axle. i strongly recommend it. and you gotta keep re-torquing the u bolts in the rear. torque them, drive to the end of your drive way, torque them. corner store, torque them. after they stop settling you should be good just check them about a week later. if they aren't torqued enough then the spring perch will bend and look like a semi-circle
  5. also it allows for more turning under flex.. kinda looks cool to me
  6. white is good. any other color is bad. the stuff on the inside of my camaro was black
  7. up to you. some places its illegial to run an aftermarket exhaust system, like NH. but nobody follows that law. ive read its only like 2ho gain with an empty cat on stock exhaust. but if your running a glass pack then things may be a little worse for you. the engine is designed to have some backpressure and when you get rid of it you compromise power for sound. personally i would leave the cat there with it hollow and then run a glass pack.
  8. 85 was full size. the front axles are floaters. rear are c- clip. ring gear is 8.5'' shoudl be 28 spline shafts. its comparable to the D44. i think the front is a little tougher. but remember that the front axle on a full size C/K is a few inches wider. and the differential is on the passenger side.
  9. we use brakleen, engine de-greaser works. in the past ive pressure washed, but you have to be very carefull and keep the pressure pretty low so you don't rip gaskets and whatnot.
  10. Isn't there another forum you can haunt instead of replying to every single topic here? And possibly think a little bit before you do respond? And try spell checker too. :D I think you should go work on your Clamero......... you know i was starting to like you but now i see what type of a person you are.
  11. ahh yes. maybe you have a vacuum leak? there is a black bottle in your bumper on the passenger side. take a look at it, inspect it, get your truck running and spray some engine starting fluid at it, if the idle goes up then you have a vacuum leak. but, i like the cat idea better. seems more likely. its not too often a pump dies after 30 seconds every time.
  12. yeah its a lot of work. stroker sounds nice though.
  13. i really like your jeep :brows:
  14. good ARC welds and plates on both sides, and top and bottom.
  15. yeah its a crap motor. worst motor ever from GM... to my knowledge
  16. i believe you can tighten the alan screw on the gearbox and it will reduce slop. I'm like 89% sure you can do it on jeeps. you will have a nut with a screw coming out of it, loosen the nut and screw in the screw like 1/4 turn, tighen the nut WITHOUT moving the screw, drive it, adjust as necessary. adjust too much and the wheel will hold where you turn it. thats bad. do it to mine about every 4 months. (70's gearbox on a full size with 35x16R15)
  17. good point :waving:
  18. well, its hard saying without hearing the motor. if its got no knocks or rattles or bangs then yeah. probabally good to go. have you though of running a thicker oil? maybe 20-50?
  19. yeah. Brent, BLHTAZ i believe has done this swap along with many other guys on here.
  20. sounds like its time for a SBC400 swap.
  21. actually, now that i think of it, my clamaro had the same problem, and the cat was as see through as a rock. sometimes you can shake them and hear a rattle, but not always, if its not to hard then take it off and see how it runs. don't run it too long as you run a risk of damaging valve seats and bending valves. nothing to worry about if its for a little while. you should be able to see through a cat. if you can only see through part then take a long screw driver or something along those lines and start smalling it in there to get that crap out. put her back on, if emissions says no then get a cat, (kinda pricey for a real one not a look alike)
  22. Degree? Don't you mean Foot Pound (or Newton Meter :D)? yeah yeah yeah you know what i meant. early mornings for school and longs days at work. about 13 hours actually... only to come home to more work having to be done on my car/truck.
