Wanting metal Tail light boxes? Possible group buy?
pingpong replied to brimy311's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Brimy, Have you posted this question on some of the other MJ/XJ based websites? Not everyone over on Naxja, or JF and other MJ owners come to this site. Also didnt realise your t-case skid was like that... My Bad. ON a XJ note... do you all make them wider then that? -

IN 1.) Jeepcomj 2.) Cdn Glenwood 3.) pingpong I would prefer corner bed guards as well. The t-case skid should be the same as the xj. I know I have used stock xj skids on my MJ. -
If you were not dead set on the cash some of them trades are money makers long term. Also some of the trades I would have counter offered throw in this much cash and pay the DMV fees. I was offeed lots of trades when I was trying to sell my MJ, before the engine swap. None of them were worth it to me. I wanted green backs, otherwise it wasnt worth it to me. I still wish my first trade would have come through. That s10 on d60's and 38's would have been nice. YOu can never have too many trail rigs

Wanting metal Tail light boxes? Possible group buy?

This is why I am putting out a feeler and not just making them. I understand this logic completely, but I feel I owe it to those that have asked to at least put a feeler. Trust me, we understand the size of this market! Since we prototyped sliders for these trucks, we maybe have sold 3-4 sets. Sorry that the sliders haven't sold any better than they have. Sliders are one of the projects that most home "builders" can pull off themselves. They won't be as nice as yours, but most home fabers can pull it off. I am definately interested. I really wish they had the qtr quards too. As I pointed out earlier... no one makes bed repair panels. I can't speak for other owners, but I wheel my crap, and I don't like being denied on an obstacle cause I am afraid to put a dent in my rig. That is why MY 90 Black MJ won't see any trail time till I get it armored to the point I am happy. I also have an xj to beat on.. and it is getting that when I am able to wheel. -

I am still game.... but I would really love it to be QTR guards as well. You never answered weather or not they would be rounded or squared off? Also how thick will they be? Also please forgive me cheap mj brethren. I think most forget that your are in the buisness to make money. I am not sure if some of the ppl on here are aware of the expense that goes into R&D and overhead. I think what you are trying to do for this niche market is great. -
WJ KNuckle and brake swap.
pingpong replied to pingpong's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
THe issue wouldnt be making the front work 5x5, it would be making the rear axles work in my situation. I all ready have dual pattern alloy shafts. They are 5x5.5 or 5x4.5. Mr blaine had a pic up on pirate I think where he drilled a stock unit bearing for the 5x5.5 and there wasnt enough meat to do it. So it appears if I do this, I am stuck running my wheel spacers, or changing bolt pattern. Since I all ready have the wheel spacers, I will continue with that route  -

I would be game for the whole quarter panel especially if it covered the lower corner. Also will these light boxes be like shortened versions of the xj box or will they follow the more rounded corner of the MJ? If I could protect the lower rear corner of my bed, instead of cutting it... 300 is a bargain. No one makes replacement bed parts for the MJ. -

I think It would be a great idea. I would like to know what they were going to look like before I committed any money though. -
Piecing together a SUPER 30
pingpong replied to james750's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Basically with a super 30 you have D44 size shafts. Do a super 30 kit does nothing to address wheel bearings and the tubes on the d30. For the price of the super 30 kit.. I would seriously look at building a waggy d44 or other real d44. -
Lift? No Lift? for 31' tires.
pingpong replied to jeeplover88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No lift 1990 on 265/75/15 no lift another 1990 on 31x10.5 (this was pong when I first got it) pic of a 89 xj with 31x10.5 no lift -
OK I hate to break this to all you other MJ owners :smart: We will never see a MJ on Barret Jackson. No matter how nice they are.. they are worth more to ppl who use them. Keep in mind if it is nice drive it, and keep it nice, if not... break out the plasma.. buy 200' of DOM and go to town on it

WJ KNuckle and brake swap.
pingpong replied to pingpong's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
From my research there are several problems with just doing one side. Mostly to do with ackerman angles. The bolt patern is different on the WJ from the mj. IT also gives you a hi steer style setup. No inverted Y setup no more. Also bigger then stock (mj/xj) size tre's. I am doing it to improve steering angles. JKS makes the spacers needed to run the mj wheel bearings and still use stock axle shafts. They also make a threaded steering link where all you have to do is provide the TRE's and Jamb nuts. They also make a pretty trick trac bar relocation bracket. -
I have been loads of research since I am home bound. To me is seems like a worth while swap. Has anyone done it on this site? Anytips you want to pass on?

Looks like you all had a blast. to clarify what jeff said about the temps. The high was in the low 30's and the winds were blowing 15 to 25 mph all day putting the wind chills in the low 20's if not teens. The things us Jeepers will do to show how tuff we are

interesting.....frame stiffeners
pingpong replied to dunl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I say go buy some 31/2x 3/16 flat plate and weld in place. Adding dimple die holes if you have access if not cut 2 inch holes every 6" to inrease weld area. stitch weld the top off set from the 2" holes. -

I suggest you get some 1/8 in wall tubing and bend it by hand. Then get a piece of 1/8 angle iron and try bending it. See which one is easier. -
Well, When I got home from the Rehabilation hospital, I had home therapy for about 2 weeks. Therapist said I was all ready had as much mobility as possible without being able to put weight on my right leg. Until I can put weight on my leg, all I can do is range of motion excercises, and I do them as much as possible. I am going back to UVa about the swelling and redness on the 11, hopefully it is not too major of a problem.

We all need to make sure we vote for him. The west coasters are ganging up on the xj guy to help get belly doc in. Help one of your own out. If you have a pirate account vote for the lil guy.

Since I have been able to watch more tv... on the shows that make fun of ppl getting hurt. I see more and more golf cart accidents happening. Most of them are worse then mine, and the way they happen even scarieir

I would have to say it is more like a frame strengthener. I basically broke my right leg at the knee. It is called the Tibial Plataue (sp). The basically had to reconstruct my lower half of my knee joint. Dr. also told me that to expect a knee replacement in the next 10-15 yrs depending on how hard my work is... So I am saying closer to ten yrs on that. I am here to tell you I have spent 9 weeks doing nothing but sitting on a couch with limited outing, and it sucks balls, I would much rather be working and buxsting my @$$

yet another AX-15 swap question
pingpong replied to HKB3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you are bolting in a 242 shifter rod you better use it. BTW that is a bling 300. where did you get the pinion brake from? -
The body mount piece is the piece held onto the body by 4 self tapping bolts.

Well as some of you know I had an accident on Halloween eve. Got ejected from a modified golf cart, bork my left foot and right leg. Right leg required an "open reduction" and a 13cm piece of steel as well as 5 screws. Well went to Dr. on dec 17, Dr. told me no weight on right leg till Feb 17 :???: and to further complicate the siutation I am having swelling and redness in right foot. Ended up in the ER to have it checked for blood clots. None were found, but I am going to end up back at UVa to have it checked in a week. As for my left foot, it isnt healing as well as it should be. There is a chance that I will need to have it operated on after the fact. To sum it all up.. no winter wrenching for me. Pong will have to wait another yr to get finished. The turd needs cosmetic repairs to wheel this spring and summer.

The first looked like poor extraction technique...... second one.. looks like he should have dug out behind wheels a lil
