  1. As some of you know I am putting an exo and tube bed on my rig. I am doing the research part of the fuel cell thing now. Have any of you successfully done this? If so what tank and fuel pump did you use? I did a bunch of research over on Pirate, and kept coming up with the ES2000 for a pump, but according to info I pulled out of the napa store, it doesn't have enough fuel pressure. BTW there are 2 different pumps listed in the napa book for a 90 4.0. The Warbo, flows 18gph, at 65 psi, and the other is a Bosch that flows 45 GPH, at 90-110 psi  So any help on this would be appreciated. Patrick
  2. Why do you say that. I know a few ppl running them, and they have had zero isuues. I agree they are pricey, and you can build a D44 with a j-yard housing for a lil more, but why do you say that? Patrick
  3. Unless you do a hub conversion on your front end (warn, mile maker, or some form of a home breew one), Your front axles turn when your tires do. Being that you have the VD axles, it won't be as much of a big deal, cause when your not in 4wd, only the drivers side axle shaft is turning. I have done the conversion on my front axle, and I do not notice the locker up front. Patrick
  4. Well I am with GMAC and they have a specific exclusion clause and ask the question when you fill out the application. Up til last yr they didnt say anything, but this past yr they asked for a picture of my trail rig. I think that was mostly cause I put a theft policy on it (just in case some one stole my rig for parts). Patrick
  5. Mine had a throttle body so I guess it was a later version. It was n't the most powerful motor, but the 3.73 gears in it did make it kinda peppy for a V-6. Also they were not GM's best motors either. They also had transmision issues. I got rid of the truck cause the whole front end needed to be rebuilt, it just wasnt worth spending 200 in parts just to have a vehicle with 200,000 miles on it, when I traded it for an Old firedepartment K-5 Blazer that had only 43,000 original miles on it  :D Patrick
  6. The 2.8 while a dog, can be a pretty long running motor, if taken care of. I had a S-10 with one, and when I sold it, it had 200,000 showing, and the guy I sold it o drove it another yr beore he sold it, and the person he sold it to is still driving it, and that was almost 3yrs ago. Rebuilding what you have wil be far easier and cheaper then swapping in another motor, unless you use a 3.4 and your current fuel system. If you change any of that you can start getting into big money. So keep that in mind. Patrick
  7. While poking around ebay earlier today there was a few EZ locker and Lock right avaible, some seemed reasonably priced. Patrick
  8. I have found that DHL or the Post office to be 10x better then UPS. BTW did you all know you can ship YJ half doors through the postal service for 20 bucks :D UPS wanted 50  Patrick
  9. I will try that, its free and doesnt require that much work. Patrick
  10. Well this is a comanche site, but I will tell you what I know about them. Basically you move the shackle part behind the axle and mount the fixed point at the front of your jeep. The advantage to this is a smoother ride, and generally better flex. Down side is without a long travel front driveshaft, you will seperate you driveshaft halves. Also it will require much longer brake lines, and shocks to work properly. Patrick
  11. Been with this insurance company for many yrs, so I get a heavy discount, plus my home owners is with them. My rig is definately maintained, but read all your insurance policies carefully, most I have encountered have an exclusion/penalty for lift or altered vehicles. Patrick
  12. I have a few more things I am going to try before I resort to parting out or selling the truck. But yes it does have an AX15  as well as a Jasper motor with less then 30,000 since it was installed (PO did that), it also has a Rusty's/Pro Comp lift :D as well as a SOA D35 with 3.73, and a factory LSD :-D , Thius was my DD unitl it started having runnability problems, I really want to fix this truck, cause I miss the 21-25 miles it got to the gallon. Patrick
  13. I think if you changed when it had to be there it might be a lil cheaper to ship it. Patrick
  14. Every year I have to give my Insurance company pics of my vehicles, and I think when I give them a pic of pong this yr, they are going to tell me it is to "modified" for them to insure  , and if they say that, Iam going to have to pull it off the road  Also after the cage is done, I think getting it inspected is going to pose a problem, especially with 2 windshield down tubes :D
  15. if its 40... it makes me a semi duffer  if its 50 I have a while to go :D
  16. My street MJ is running like poo poo. After it warms up, it runs like poo poo. you go to step on the gas to acclerate, and it bogs right down, and acts like it is going to cut off. PUsh the clutch in, and wait a sec, Idles goes back to normal, and evertything is fine. I have been working on this problem on and off for a few months, and I am about to part out this truck, cause it is pissing me off. The bad thing is all my known good parts are on my trail rig, and that is 2 hours away getting a cage built. Patrick
  17. I have to agree with DirtyComanche, welding the rear up, or using a spool of any type is not for a rig that gets driven on the street any amount of the time. The only reason why I am lincoln locked in the rear is, I got tired of being denied when my Factory LSD wasnt doing like it was suppose to. After we welded up my rear diff, it was a point and shoot affair, and my rig went where I pointed it. Keep in mind this is a trail rig.
  18. Even with traction bars, or similar devices your rear end is still going to want to rotate. The problem then is, if you use your rig off road you have lost ground clearance, and now you have a binding issue with your flex. I seen a CJ8 on the last trail ride I went on SOA with traction bars, get his rear to flexing, then he bound it up, and bam there went his rear output shaft on his T-case. Patrick
  19. We figured out that its is not compresion, or a plugged catalytic, then we figured out my trash can in the garage only holds about 45 empty beers. plus various oil fluid cans. Patrick
  20. Do what I did and lincoln lock the rear till you can get a full spool or a mini spool
  21. I was just wondering, cause I have been thinking of doing something similar
  22. Owning a jeep, Especially a Comanche makes you knowledgeable on how to fix them :D Welcome, and how about some pics :-D
  23. One of my MJ's is 2 hours away getting an EXO cage built, the other one, I am still trying to figure out whats wrong with it. Mostly drank beer and ate steak while trouble shooting the problem. Patrick
  24. The local pic aprt sells front d/s for 35 bucks, so I have a spare. They are easy and relatively cheap to rebuild yourself. Unless you need a long travel front, I wouldn't spend the coin on one. Tom woods also offers a trail hazard warranty, that I recommend getting. My rear has a sizeable dent, and has to be fixed, and I am looking at a nice chunk of coin to get it done right. Patrick
