I think all armor should fit into what you said Pete. I think my Best Mod to date has been Lincoln locking the rear  Before we did this mod on the last trail ride, I was getting denied as soon as I needed rear traction, but after we welded it up.... the only thing that denied me was fear of rolling over. I am currently correcting this problem.

Thanks for the replies guys. Since we cut the frame off behind the cab, I figured I might as well fix my braking issues. Patrick

Has anyone found or done a write up on swapping in a Xj front proportioning valve? If so can I have a link or two. Thanks Patrick

When I bought my Mj a few yrs ago, the spare was still under there. The hoist still worked as well. Well after my first wheeling trip I decided it was time to move the tire. Kept getting hung on things. I will say it looks good though. Patrick

If it is a 2wd.. did they come with the AW4 or the 727 torque flight? Patrick

I have yet to notice any binding from my Long arms. I will say I had more travel when I was running Drop brackets, but I also had less ground clearance. We willl be redesigning my front suspension after all the cage work is done. Patrick -
Newbe with a dumb horn question

I think it is located off of Shore drive. Patrick -
Someone has alll ready scanned this on to the jeep forum site. No need to double and tripple scan stuff when it is all ready out there. Patrick

Newbe with a dumb horn question
pingpong replied to Woody's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well I see you are in the great state of VA  am too. Be it a couple of hours from you. On both of my MJ's the horn is located on the drivers side under the inner fender. Just go to any cheapy auto store and buy a horn button and some wire, and you should be able to wire it up yourself. BTW you are close to the u-wrench it. they normally have more Xj's and crap dwn there then they know what to do with. Patrick -

There was a lot of planning done when building this exo. Exo cages are far from the best way to protect passengers, but everything is a comprimise. Either have an ugly thing outside, or have a nice cage inside that you always hit your head on. As for the COG thing, that came in almost immediately. IF it wasnt for the fact that I want to run 38"s in the future we would have lowered the fron more as well. That still might happen as soon as we put the d60's under there and see how mock flexing does. Patrick -
Thanks for the warning about trying to preserve my trail rig, but I think you might be a lil too late. Especially since we started to cut the frame yesterday  I think my one redeeming factor should be, that I am willing to sell my street MJ, before I end up doing the same thing to it. Needless to say once I go full width, I wil have another set of axles that will need a home  BTW Happy New Year, and may God Bless you and your family in the coming year. Patrick

I just figured I would pass this on as well, Full width D60's will be going under it as soon as I can come up with the coin to do gears and lockers in both axles. I just came across a deal for a HP60, and a full floating one as well  Damn this build is getting expensive  -
I must say,, I am feeling a few things  but more primitive isnt one of them after looking at those pics  BTW nice job on the vent covers, and the cover looks good on the bed. Patrick

Lets see if this all adds up

I kinda have that 70's muscle car look going on, but I am running 2" lift springs, with 2" lift shackles, and SOA on a 8.8. In the front I am running 6.5" coils, and even after over a yr of hard trail abuse is still sitting closer to7.75, and that is with a winch and a heavy winch bumper. BTW rusty's springs are really stiff :D Patrick -

Bounty Hunter, We thought about that in the design phase about my higher center. The reason the bars are out side, is cause it would have been harder to fab the main pieces out of 1 continous piece of steel. The B hoop is all one piece. Also it really only raised it a couple of inches cause, the bars are huggin the body. Once we chop the rear half of the frame off, we also plan on lowerering the rear a few inches, cause w/o the wieght of the bed, IT has all ready sprung up 3+" since I pulled the bed off. BTW it is going back up to the shop today to start phase 2 of the build. This will constitute cutting the frame off right behind the rear cab mount, and building a new rear frame ut of tubing. We also plan on shortening the wheel base down to around 110". We will also be adding some upgraded safety features in this part of the build. They will include PRP suspension seats, 5 point harnesses, and a fuel cell. I should me trail ready in a couple more weeks, so testing will start again in Febuary. Maybe the build will change after its first outing. Patrick -
Just swap in a 8.8 with discs and 4.10's and regear the front, you will come out money ahead and have a stronger axle

Comanche front lift options

Some yj's also use the bigger 1350 u-joint, so keep that in mind as well. For what it is worth, a stock LWB MJ will require approximately a 531/2" CV driveshaft. When I got mine it was 350 shipped just to give you a heads up. Patrick -

The place we go is private wheeling and you have to pay to go. Pretty insane for the money. I think there next ride up there is in Febuary, and it is a benifit run for a kid with cancer. I think it is the second w/e. I am hoping to have my junk ready by then. Patrick -

The YJ yoke is not signifigantly longer, like 1/2 an inch, or at least that is what I have found. What they do allow is more u-joint travel before binding. AS for the sye with the Soa. I have a street mj without a sye, and it is fine for street driving, but I would not chance it on the trail. You could have your driveshaft lenghthened, not what I would do, I would just have it retubed, Retubing is about 125, if done by a drive shaft shop. while you are at it, have them step up the tube thickness, and diameter. As for the square shafts, we have a guy building himself some, so... they might be in a bungh of the guys in the club I belong to wheeling them. Patrick -

Dachir, expense is a relative term. Last trail ride a Crozet, I didn't run a couple of trails cause of near rolls I made just getting to the obstacle. Needless to say I got scared, so I decided to step it up a notch. I think from now on the first Mod I am going to do on any rig I wheel will be a roll cage. I also plan on try it out  at least a flop or an endo  :D 87Manche, We are going to tie it in right at the level of the top of the door bars. More then likely we are coing to bob the bed, and change the wheel base to about 115" maybe a touch shorter (currently I am at 122") Cut the fram rails off right in front of the front spring hangers and go from there. The plans are to run some 36" travel rear shocks as well  :D  Ohio, The suspension is pretty basic. SOA in the rear, with ALcan custom 2" lift rear springs, with Full size Chevy drop shackles. Up front is Terra flex long arms, with re super flex uppers, re hd trac bar and mount, with some Rusty's 6.5 coils. I guess you can check out my webshots page and see how my rig has changed, there are some pics of the installs, and the parts I used. http://community.webshots.com/user/cj7xjmj Patrick -
Who needs tunes when you can listen to the drown of M/T's on pavement :D Much above 20MPH I can't hear nothing w/o the doors on.. so my stock radio is useless to me. Patrick

I gave my rig an exo cage :D and I pick my rig back up today. The In-laws bought me a new Cobra cb fr my tow rig, got some misc. small stuff. Most importantly my rig is getting safer :D

I strongly suggest running a sway bar. Otherwise, especially if you have a lot of lift, you street driving will be nuts. Way to much flex for "safe" driving. Also some states check that stuff for inspection. Patrick -
I thought about using the stock pump, but do the fact that I don't want to "modify" a new tank to make it work. I have read a bunch of stiff on many boards, so I think I am going to go with the E2000, with a poly cell with foam, and the holley dual pick up system. Patrick
