  1. So are you doing a d300 flip kit as well, or are you running a passenger side drop front axle. I thought about swapping out my 231 for a d300, but until idecide what to do for axles, I am holding off. Patrick
  2. I know a few ppl who run cut boggers. They bought a tire groover, and remove the smaller "center lugs" and sipe the larger lugs. Makes for some great traction in comparison to uncut boggers. Grooving tires is cool
  3. Jeff. I just thought of this, I have a spare windshield sitting in my garage, That I will let go cheap. :D PM if you are interested. My rig is getting ready to lose its front windshiled I think, and I don't need a spare anymore, cause my rig is just about to illegal to drive. Patrick
  4. Both of my rigs are LWB :D My rear driveshaft was 350, and my SYE was 200. That was alos a year and a half ago. so 800 for both driveshafts, and a sye sounds about right. Personally I think the stock front driveshaft works great. but that is just my opinion. Patrick
  5. I think I had mine replaced and it was around 150. It also might be a good idea to have this done as "flexing" can cause the windshield to work loose. Don't ask me how I know
  6. I can speak from experience when it comes to the SYE. if you plan on running your rig on the trail spend the coin on the SYE and driveshaft. On my street MJ I am not running a sye, and I am SOA in the rear with Rusty's 4.5 coils in the front. This Jeep deosnt see the trails, as it has a few issues. Patrick
  7. I think I have a few of thos vacum switchesd in the shed, along with a VD actuator or 2. Patrick
  8. Frank, It is all good. My mj is my trail beater, even though I do have a street MJ, that has some lift. I forgot the name of the place, but there is a company on ebay that sells the gas tanks for under 100 bucks shipped to your house. Or you could do like I am, and swap in a fuel cell. Patrick
  9. For some reason they are starting to fetch a decent price. The CJ10's are just bad a$$. the perfect setup almost to go wheel. Leaf sprung, and wheel base all in one. Simple and easy to build up. Patrick
  10. Most of the AW4's came behind the 4.0's I think the tranny that came behind the 2.5's wasthe TF909. but I am not sure. If you plan on being happy with your fuel economy and performance with that 4 popper, I would have to look at a gear chart, and figuure out what my engine speed (rpm) would be, with this or that gear and what ever tire you plan on running. Check the tire makers website to get the auctaul tire size, not the advertised size.
  11. We want to see pics :D What do you think of RK's 3 link setup? How does it wheel? I have heard good and bad things about it, but have never heard anyone say that they were running that set-up
  12. I am running the lock tight up front in my rig. I do not notice it on the road. The only problem I can speak of with them is when I broke a piece of it at Tellico  But Richmond gear stood behind their warranty and sent me a new one. Depending on if you wheel or plan on wheeling your MJ would be the deciding factor if I would even buy a front locker. By7 the sounds of it, you want a clean DD, so if that is the case I wouldnt worry about a front locker. BTW non disco axles were avaible through out all the yrs in the MJ and XJ, they just came in the np242 equipped Xj/MJ's Patrick
  13. If you plan on using this as a work truck it won't last very long. The MJ is a light duty truck. made to haul a maximum of 750 pounds. not much when you think the driver weighs around 200. BTW long shackles will wear out your springs faster if you haul stuff. Patrick
  14. TRuss it, thorugh some moly shafts in it, lock it up, and then proceeded to put it throught torture testing. Thatrs at least what i am doing. IT will hold up to 35's the way I just listed it. Or at least mine has
  15. The D44 will hold up fine to 33 boggers. I know a guy running 36 TSL on a d30  with TJ shafts though, but still 36's. I am running 35's on alloy d30 shafts, so in my opinion you should be all right. But this goes back to one of my theories when it comes to stuff like that... ITS not my Jeep :D
  16. Thats a good point. I think they are the same except the 4 WD ones, the t-case is a female end and is set to recieve the output from the tranny. Personally I wouldnt even think of running a manual for a trail rig. I have seen to many rigs lose forward momentum, cause of a clutch stall. PLus the AW4 is just about indestructaible :D My plans are to find a 4.3, and a turbo 350 or 400, and change the first gear ratiop to a 3 something, and let her ride. Patrick
  17. Same thing isnt it  :P Just a cherokee wanting to be a truck
  18. Where Ilive if the Officer doesn't see any mirrorsa, he can and will pull you over and right you a "Defective equipment" ticket which cost $109 after court costs  This is the same ticket they issues after you prove your speedo is off. or shall I say the judge reduces your speeding ticket to that. It doesnt carry any license points so I guess it is better
  19. Most definately interested. As for wether to stay open or lock it up.... Now is the time to do it when he is installing your gears, as its the same labor either way. I know a few local places that hook me up on killer deals on gears and install kits, and I have a few buddies who install gears cheap. as in less then 100 per axle. I am going to Independent4x http://independent4x.com/ tommorow wqith Pong on the trailer, and see what kind of plans he has drawn up for my exo/interior cage :D and if we can agree on a price... I will be ready to ROLL my jeep over :D  On the seious side, you really don't need master install kits, unless your bearing are bad. Also don't pay more then 75 bucks per "master install" kit. Thats what I can get them for shipped to my door. I forgot what gears would cost, as I bought used ones lats time (case of beer). Patrick
  20. Up till the last trail ride I went on.. Yes I did drive my rig on the road   It is great to watch ppl get out of my way, cause they know I care about body damage  If your MJ is registered as a passenger car, and it is lifted, they can give you a ticket. I am not saying that they will, but the bumper height laws are different for passenger vehicles. As for the hood thing... Yes it is perfestly legal not to have a hood on your vehicle. Patrick
  21. In Virginia, the inspection code does not address this question. What it does say is you have to have one interior mirror, and at least a drivers side mirror. I drove my truck on the street on and off for a month or so, and never got pulled over. I did however get followed by an officer or two, no doubt they were running my registartion and the what not. Since then I have decided to make my rig an Offroad vehicle only cause I was getting tired of the cop staring game. I also had to raise my wieght class on my vehicle to remain legal as far as bumper hieght goes. So my MJ is a 3/4 ton on the registration   Patrick
  22. That depends on how much lift you are planning up front. Patrick
  23. Terra flexes LA kit uses a bracket, and you have to mod your x-memeber, but because of my wheeling style my Xmemeber is hashed, and I want to remake the whole setup. I just want to make it a lil stronger. Patrick
  24. AS for the axle brackets, have them cut off with a plasma cutter, or cut the tubes and do it very carefuly, to keep as much of the material as possible. Depending on how much flex you want, depends on how much trimming you will need. Patrick
  25. To me the only reason to replace your rear leafs are... 1 They are sagged out, or 2 they are not giving you enough lift. I replaced mine for both of those reasons. Patrick
