I must agree... WTF is "Hitch steel" :dunno: I just gave my old home made rock rails to MJ Jeff on this site, and they were for a LWB, I am sure he will give you the dimensions. The problem I ran inot when fabbing mine was the front extra bracing, made it so the front stand off was not in an ideal spot. But once I went LA's I moved it forward. Not to knock rocky road either, my rails weighd much more then 35#s a side, and were built out of 2x3x1/4 and I tweaked them  So to put a lifetime guarantee out there on rock rails or any part that comes into contact with rocks is kinda funny :D Cause I would definately try and bend them
-
I know 2 ppl running them  but they are in quasi buggies, so that really don't count, cause they are extremely braced, and weight is not a factor. The only down fall I have heard about them is the lack of gear selection.
-
I wish I would have known you needed the rear frame section, cause i just junked what was left of my frame rails. It was the whole frame from about 6" behind the cab on back.

Maybe not completely  and I was wrong again  so its all good

Jeff that sucks  it was probrably all the weight from the bumper and rock rails that put the extra strain on the motor :brows: I now think it is time to transplant a v-6 or v-8 into it  and then swap some full widths under it ;) and flog the piss oput of it :deal:

Good times are rolling :rotf:

Major destinations are excluded form this list. Paragon, Tellico, Harlan, Moab, Johnson Valley. You at least have to take a before carnage pic there ;)

Believe it or not, if I added mud flaps, an outside rear view mirror, and removed my windshiled bars, I would be street legal  I still have functioning lights, and wipers, and horn :brows: By the VA state inspection law I would "technically" be legal. Even the bumper height if I changed the weight class of my truck  This is not saying that I would want to try and drive it around

This thread is worthless without pics, and the evil twisted

When I strip Xj's and trucks at the house I use the cutting torch for almost everything :nanner: Makes life much easier. :D

You forgot some key ones.... but its cool

Easiest way to remove perches
pingpong replied to DansGreyMj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It depends on if you are going to try and re-use the perches and what tools you have. Personally I fire up the torch and cut close, then clean it up with a flap wheel. -
You are right, I was thinking of their 12 bolt axle

I know my rig isn't everyone style, but it works for me :D . We built mine out 1.75 x.120 DOM. The rock rails are 2x.250 DOM, and my windshield bars are 1.25x.120 DOM. Some where in between Those cages ther is a good compromise. Have you thought about doing an Internal roll cage. Something to protect just the driver/passenger. Keep the looks but still provide enough protection to keep the jeep intact. That was my initial idea, but I got carried away. Also tubing adds some weight, but not as much as ppl think. I am actually lighter now then I was before, but I also ditched a lot of unneeded weight like doors and most of my glass :brows: BTW my rig took 250' of tube to build

I keep trying to find ppl to be my winch b!tch, but since they have seen video of what I put them thru no one wants to ride with me anymore  Picture taking is over rated anyways, unless it is a flop, or some major kind of carnage :D

Should have did that the first time

Nice... I love flying or falling parts when using hand tools

Like tha post says.... MPJAI wil be there wheeling our junk. there will be at least 2 goups both days. one running low blues and greens, and the other running high blue and blacks  Needless to say at a minimum you have to have what Paragon requires for safety equipment. here is the post from the website about the ride http://mpjai.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4380 Jeep on Patrick

PITA to pull a rear axle  Cordless sawzall,2 baldes, and a 16mm ratchet and 10 minutes is all I need  All the same good find

Need tips on painting new bumper
pingpong replied to attaboybob's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Flat black rustoleoum. Straight out of the can, no prep work or anything :D The whole key is many light coats. Keep in mind meatl is porous, and will absorb what ever it has been exposed to for a long time. Whatever method you use make sure the clener you use is compatable with the paint. -
To do a SOA takes more then just some spring perches. Up front it takes a lil bit of work and money. BUT NO YOUR DRIVESHAFT won't WORK

91's did not come with a d44 rear axle. they were only an option between 87-89. or this is what my research has found. also as pointed out by one of the other members, 90 should have been the last yr of the disco housing. Either some one has changed parts, or did something cause your jeep was not offeredc that way. Patrick

I ran the Chevy drop shackles for over a yr and a half. they worked great. did they contribute to my stock springs having negative arch :? maybe, or was it me stuffing the tires as far as I could that did  I picked the drop shackles up used for 15 bucks, I am sure they are not to awful expensive new. Sometimes you have to put a price on your time, and materials, and figure out if it is worth making it yourself. Now that the aftermarket is fully supporting the MJ, and XJ parts are coming out of the wood work. I wouldn't be suprised if one of the big lift companies don't start sellng Chevy drop shackles re-packaged as MJ lift shackles  Also keep in mind that lifting your rig by using this method ussually results in SHORTENING your wheel base. this CAN also cause fitment issues with tires if you have all your rear sheetmetal

When an obstacle has caused mutiple pieces of damage to your vehicle, especially a tree, it is to be rammed at full throttle to teach it a lesson  or just take a different line

Thats why you bring a friend with a busted jeep, or a non-jeeper
