To Those With A 99-01 4.0L Cherokee X J:
Geonovast replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Runs along the bottom of the block from the sensor, looks like it's clipped to the block twice; Then comes back up around the manifold and meets up with the CTS plug wires. -
Need Help With A Couple Of Issues
Geonovast replied to snakedoc67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What was the fuel issue? Low pressure or a sticky injector can cause dying issues and poor mileage. -

Don, if you end up still needing a picture, let me know. I'll go out and snap one for you. -
You also need to remember that the back of the 2.5 is a little more forward than the 4.0. 4.0 sits closer to the firewall. Not sure if that would make the AX-15 sit where it would need to or not.

More Transmission Issues
Geonovast replied to JFAComanche6's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah, because it's the BA 10/5, that's why I need the picture. If it was an AX-15, I could tell you how to do it. I'm not sure how the Pukey is set up in there. -
More Transmission Issues
Geonovast replied to JFAComanche6's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Can you pull the shifter out and take a picture if the inside of the trans? I may be able to direct you on how to pop it out of gear. -
The pilot bearing cutoff was actually 92, a 91 should use the same bearing as the Renix 4.0s.

Peugeot Transmission Issue
Geonovast replied to comanchebuilder21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The tip goes into the pilot bearing inside the crankshaft. The clutch itself only deals with the splines. There are a couple things beyond the trans itself you'll need for an AX-15 swap, especially if it doesn't have a T-case attached. BA 10/5 used a 21 spline, AX-15 is 23. If you're considering the AX-15 swap, I would estimate a good 10.328% of the threads on this forum cover or mention the topic, you should be able to locate pretty much all the information you need.- 15 replies

2.8 Carb/cab Wiring Questions
Geonovast replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 2.8's already carbed, I'm betting he just doesn't want to do the FI conversion. -
I'd pop the head off before yanking the motor, may just be a head gasket. I'd had that hope with my 2.5... but when I got the head off, it turns out a ring had let loose in cylinder #1 and gouged the living hell out of the cylinder wall. Might be easier to just dump a used motor in, but also may be harder to sell.

2.8 Carb/cab Wiring Questions
Geonovast replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I believe the pink wire is for the factory cargo light, not a dome light. Not many had the cargo light, but I believe they were all wired for it. -
Yup, makes sense. If there is one that works, it'll be from something obscure. You may have to find one with the correct OD, and an ID that's too small(might be difficult though), and have it drilled out. Or find a local machine shop and see how much it would cost to just have one made.

Which Spider Gears To Buy For '88 Dana 35?
Geonovast replied to dfred15's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd send you a set in a heartbeat if I had any sitting around. Throw up a WTB thread in the classifieds. -
Just for clarification, it's not carburated. It has throttle body injection, with a single injector in the throttle body. Do a basic tune up (plugs/cap/wires), and check your fuel pressure. Could be a dying pump, clogged filter, or shot regulator.

Peugeot Transmission Issue
Geonovast replied to comanchebuilder21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The entire shaft, or just the tip? The clutch for both is the same. 89-91 AX-15's pilot tip is the same size as the BA 10/5, ~1/2" 92+ AX-15's pilot tip is bigger, ~3/4" Are you sure you don't have an AX-5, not an AX-15?- 15 replies

Which Spider Gears To Buy For '88 Dana 35?
Geonovast replied to dfred15's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
HOLY HELL EXPENSIVE Batman. Do Not put that much money into a D35! You can probably get a used set from a member on here for next to nothing. The entire axle isn't worth half what they're charging for those. -
If you're gotta get a Jeep bike, at least get one of the 2wd ones. From what I understand, the Comanche model was only available in 1wd.
-
I've had 3 XJs and 2 MJs with a D35. The only axle I killed was the one behind the only 2.5, with the smallest tires of any of them. I don't know if it's anything I did though, as the carrier bearings went out on it.
-
Yes.
-
No. That works with the AW-4. AX-5 and AX-15 are completely different in that regard. An AX-15 can be mounted behind a 2.5 with a certain year range Dakota 2.5/5 speed bellhousing, but they're insanely hard to find.
-
Yup, the AX-5 is an AX-4 but with a 5th gear. 4.0 has the AX-15. You can get an AX-4/5 from any 2.5 XJ/MJ/YJ/TJ or a 2.8 XJ/MJ.
-
One has a 2.5, the other has a 4.0. The transmissions will not directly swap.

Welcome to the internet! As this is your first visit, let us show you around. :laughin: Firefox is an internet browser, like Internet Explorer, but much faster, safer, and has many more options. There is now a mobile version of it, for Android. I have no idea if there's one for the iPhone. I had it installed on my nook before I de-rooted it, and it handed a lot of sites better than the built in browser.
