  1. The two carriers are different. I believe the low ratio flange is bigger and closer to the pinion. 3.07-3.73 gears will not go on a 4.10-4.88 carrier, and vice-versa. You need the proper carrier.
  2. My Dad's got a 91 4.0 rebuilt with about 50-55k on it that he wants way too much for. The building company he got it from told him it would only go in a 91 so I think that's part of it. Motor doesn't leak or have any problems other than it may need a new balancer. I'm trying to get an idea of what it's worth, what you guys would be willing to pay, etc.
  3. are you going to that? Honestly don't know yet. Maybe. Depends on when and how fast I get an XJ stripped.
  4. Nope, but it looks pretty cool
  5. I'm thinking one of the Wrangler family has a HP D30. Dunno. :dunno:
  6. I think the Rubi's had a HP D30. Or were they not available in 2000?
  7. Beat him with a stick?
  8. For what purpose? To change your bolt pattern? It's probably the wrong width, if nothing else... I could be off-base. No, I was just curious if the internals were all the same and whatnot, since I'm getting mixed information. I'm putting an 8.25 in and I've been under the impression that I could very simply swap the 29 spline stuff in. If I'm gonna need a new carrier, I may have to re-think.
  9. My dad got a new one yesterday. 99 4.0/auto/4wd. I didn't look but I'm pretty sure it's a 231. Two very very very tiny rust spots on it that I demanded he fix immediately. I think they paid $5200.
  10. There's one in Jefferson too, right down the road from the racetrack where the AMC meet is this weekend.
  11. I could have stolen so many vehicles because people are in too much of a hurry to shut their car off when they run into the gas station to get a soda. Granted, there are cameras, but someone could easily grab it and run it into a pole before they get caught.
  12. I read some posts on NAXJA and it seems plenty of people vouch both ways. I'm getting the impression that there's aftermarker 29 spline spiders that are the same OD as the 27s. What about the Dakota 8.25s? Anyone know about the shafts in those? My stepdad has a 95 Dak with a 6 lug 8.25.
  13. Not sure about the bed mounts, but the frames are very different. LWB doesn't just mean a longer bed, but a Long Wheel Base. I wouldn't guess, I'd just make sure I had the correct diagram before I even started.
  14. I have the same kit on my 2.5. I believe the Renix era trucks used a two piece speedo cable for the factory setup. You'll have to use the magnet kit on your truck. I was happy I didn't have to use that. I thought it was a bad idea too, especially since they want you to put the magnet on the D.S., which is going to be moving up and down, so it couldn't possibly always read correctly. As for the over-rev protection for if you throw in the clutch without turning the cruise off first, I wouldn't rely on it. I tested it a couple times after I installed the kit and it did not work. Either the system's faulty, or the 2.5 just simply does not rev quick enough for it to think of it as a problem.
  15. At least they left a few of the lugnuts.
  16. That's a Camaro?
  17. That's the first I've ever heard of that. I've always been told the 29 spl spiders and interchangeable with the 27s.
  18. I don't even have the truck yet... stop tryin to sell my stuff before I even have it.. gawd. ^^^ :rotf: But seriously, want to sell that to me? Jk :rotfl2: Rob L. I gotta talk to my dad to see what he wants for it, but if you come help strip the truck then you could take it home with ya.
  19. I don't even have the truck yet... stop tryin to sell my stuff before I even have it.. gawd.
  20. What about a new carrier and gear setup?
  21. LOLZ  Jeff They exist. Sometimes you just gotta have cheese. I start panicking when I have less the 2 lbs in the fridge.
  22. Get it, throw it in, and grab a set of 29 spline shafts from a 3.07 8.25 of.
  23. Used the original bolts and got some jam nuts from the hardware store.
  24. There's no reason to turn down a good deal on a 27 spline 8.25. You can get it in the truck, and, it's already an upgrade. Then when you want to upgrade more, you simply get the 29 splide shafts and outer spiders. The housing, carrier, and gears are all the same. Plus you can keep your 27 spline stuff as trail spares.
  25. How old are the tires?
