  1. That's a very pretty t-case skid plate.
  2. Fixed the pic for ya The red wire I believe is for a factory hood light. The blue vacuum line could be for cruise.
  3. http://www.4x4xplor.com/alignment.html You should be able to figure out which way to go by staring at the threads, or just watch one TRE as you turn it, and see if it goes in or out.
  4. Also be careful when you're pulling that out, it's not hard to bend the fingers on the pressure plate.
  5. There's a plate between the flywheel and motor, which is obviously behind the flywheel. There are two small bolts that attach that plate to the bellhousing. They go in through the front. If you don't remove those, the trans won't pull back. Did you remove the CPS? Auto or Manual?
  6. What's a PITA? Converting to 4wd, or converting a 2wd trans into a 4wd trans? With everything ready to go beforehand, a 4wd swap can easily be done in 2-3 days with a little help.
  7. I've been into 4 axles, 1 non-c clip D35, 2 C clip D35s, and a 27 spline 8.25. The non-c clip D35 had a pin I was unable to remove, the other three had a 5/16 hex bolt. :dunno:
  8. The AX-4 and AX-5 are virtually identical, except the AX-4 does not have the 5th gear. The only way to tell the difference is to grab the shifter and see if it goes into 5th. They're good transmissions. I don't see why they wouldn't hold up to your 3.4 Manual > Automatic anyway. And yes, the pukey BA 10/5 is essentially crap... behind a 4.0. It might work a bit better behind a 2.5. (Can't go behind it anyway) But it might not.
  9. To convert your 2wd AX-15 to a 4wd one? No, it's not quite that simple. You'll need a 4wd output shaft, and a 4wd rear housing. Probably 80% of the working parts are on the output shaft, and unless you have a press, a good gear puller, and have a history of working on the innards of a manual transmission, you're probably not going to be able to do it. Considering you'll need parts from a 4wd transmission, you might as well just buy a working one and save yourself a ton of trouble. Converting from a manual to an auto will also be a bit of work.
  10. Don't think I remember you.. :hmm:
  11. Both have made the Marshall/Camdenton trip quite a few times. About 560 miles one way.

  13. You do know you're going to need a 4wd transmission, correct? You cannot bolt a T-case to a 2wd transmission without heavy work to turn the 2wd one into a 4wd one.
  14. Also, there is no difference between the BA 10/5 and AX-15 flywheels.
  15. If your fuel rail leaks or is gummed up, then yes, installing a new one(I hope you mean *NEW*, and not simply another one) would help performance.
  16. Yes, all 4.0s are multi port fuel injection. Should take you all of about 5 seconds to locate it with your hood up. There are injectors that are an upgrade, but not really anything in the terms of an upgraded rail. What you're probably thinking of is the upgrade for the older 2.5L 4cylinders. 86-90 4 cylinders were TBI, or Throttle Body Injection. They have one injector, in the throttle body instead of one at each intake port in the intake manifold. In 91, the 4 cylinder went to MPFI, and has an injector at each cylinder. Older TBI 4 cylinders get a significant power upgrade if you convert to MPFI... which is a lot of work.
  17. Hence the most likely. Always check ratio before buying an axle. And for your other question, XJs had an HP D30 from 84-99, 00-01 were LP. All MJs came with a HP D30. YJs have a HP D30, but they're not much use to you unless you love fab work.
  18. I think you can get them at a parts store. I've never personally bought one, but I've heard they go around $70. Or if you feel ok with a used one, try a WTB thread on here. I'm sure someone's got an extra laying around. Or a yunkyard. Your sensor will be the same as any 86-90 2.5, or 87-90 4.0.
  19. 1. It's not a BA 10/5. Something you could point out to him. It'll be an AX-5. 2. The ECU is probably fine. It's much more likely that it's a bad sensor that the ECU starts listening to when it gets up to temp.
  20. Last year for the 207 was 86. 87 will have a 231. IIRC, 87 was the first year of the YJ.
  21. Any 4 cylinder 5 speed will most likely have 4.10 Later 4 cylinder autos will most likely have 4.10, earliers might have 4.56. Not that you'll find a lot of 4cyl autos. 4 cylinder with a 4 speed will most likely have 3.55, so keep an eye on that.
  22. Well, it's not, and they're wrong. The AX-5 was used behind the 2.5 Inline 4, 2.8 V6, and 2.1 Inline 4 Turbo Diesel. It cannot, and will not go behind a 4.0. There is no bellhousing, and it wouldn't survive. Currently you have Puegoet BA 10/5. A replacement will either be another BA 10/5, or an Aisin AX-15, which was used behind the 4.0 mid 89 - 99. The AX-15 is a much better transmission.
