  1. I'm gonna have to check that out, that thing is insane.
  2. I lost a socket down the framerail of my first XJ when I was stripping it... At least I got a few cents for it when I was at the yard..
  3. Holy crap I want one. Like, now.
  4. The second they announced the CVT with the compass, I thought: "Well, that's a terrible idea. But, I suppose that people concerned with 'shift shock' don't mind that an overzealous rubber band is all that's connecting their motor to their wheels." Glad they got away from it.
  5. That thing is puurdy. Hopefully everything underneath is just as good. Got any specs on it?
  6. I noticed one in Regular Show too, but had forgotten until now. I bet one of the guys that works on the show is a big fan.
  7. All in all I guess it could have been a lot worse. 4 hours after the incident I was filled up and driving again, and about 1 1/2 hours of that was waiting for a ride to the parts store and a gatorade break. The actual radiator swap was pretty painless, other than having to completely take off the rad support again to get the fan shroud back on. I leave tools in there way too often, and after this I'm going to be a lot more careful. It's never caused damage before. I get the feeling Brett got a few tools when he picked up my MJs.
  8. Last weekend I did a little bit of work on the XJ, changed the oil, spark plugs, and air filter. No big deal, but somehow I missed the 11mm wrench I had used to pop off the clips on the airbox. It was fine all week, but early this afternoon the truck died from having the headlights on for 15 minutes in a parking lot. (My battery is shot and was next on the list) Easily found a jump, but closing the hood again must have made the wrench move from its cozy little spot under the hood. Not 2 minutes later, as I'm making turning to go home, I hear a nasty metallic rattling noise for a second, followed by a spraying sound. I immediately pulled over, popped my hood, just to find my radiator giving the water pump pulley a nice green bath. Good thing I have a 3 day weekend to get over feeling like a flippin' idiot.
  9. Uh, Pete? http://comancheclub.com/topic/38823-whats-going-on-here-morris-4x4/
  10.
  11. Injector cleaner in the gas tank to clean out the injectors. You seem to have already knocked out most of my guesses. Does it run fine otherwise?
  12. Have you run any injector cleaner through it? Checked the air filter?
  13. I wonder if that's one they found and cut up to make the display, or if it's and original from what looks like 86. Either way, pretty neat.
  14. Aw, c'mon Jim. Hasn't been that long. The 2.5's starter does bolt up into the block, remember? :rotfl2:
  15. It's been awhile since I've had a starter off a 2.5, but I don't remember seeing any shims.
  16. My XJ was having some nice shaking problems, turned into DW once on the highway. Was blaming tire balance, but it went away when I replaced the shot U-joint.
  17. Not sure what it is about the picture, but it almost looks like it could have been an MJ ad from the 80s. Maybe it's because your truck looks like it just rolled off the factory floor.
  18. We should send TheDirtyJeep401 to go take a look at it.
  19. That's awesome, would make a great desktop background.
  20. Well your RPM isn't really going to spudder around like that, chances are is that it's misfiring. The tach gets its signal from the coil, so if it's firing erradically, it's going to be all over the place. Do a regular tune up(cap/rotor, plugs, wires), and check the condition of the main grounding strap from the head to the firewall. Also very likely your CPS is on its way out. I bet cruiser will pop in with his ground refreshing tips, I recommend you follow those as well.
  21. The 2wd tailshaft is not even close to that long, unfortunately. That would be nice, though. When I did my first 4wd swap(2wd AX-4 to 4wd AX-5/NP 207), I had the driveshaft cut down by 11 inches.
  22. Is that chart specific to our motors? It also doesn't specify if that's axle ratio or final drive.
  23. You can keep your current wiring, they're both Renix 2.5s. If you're not concerned about having 4wd, you won't even need to touch the axles. If you do, however, you'll need to match the gearing. Swapping both over from the XJ is going to be your best bet all around. It'll get you 4.10s(you don't want 3.55 if you plan on using that 5th gear), and it'll keep you from tracking down a new front axle. And yes, the XJ wheel base is much shorter than either of the MJ wheelbases. The XJ shaft will be much too short.
