Especially since MJ's aren't as common as other Jeeps it would nice to have a thread stickied where users submit pics of their Jeep along with specs so new MJ owners will have a guide to see what their's might look like with a particular lift and tire combo. Feel free to post your rig with a simple rundown of what it's equipped with and perhaps once we get a bunch of them I will consolidate it and the mod's can lock the thread and sticky it What do you all think? They could make a really long post in the DIY section with every lift amount/tire size you could think of and organize it like a graph. Like so: 0"lift-29"tires 0" lift 30" tires 0" lift 31" tires and so one until probably the last reasonable one would be 8" lift 38" tires Every option would be a link to a picture of a member's rig with that size lift and tires. That would be kind of neat and probably very useful to new owners/club members trying to decide what they would like to run by just looking at it. And there should probably be some standardization of picture (all from the side, or a 3/4 shot, etc). What size do most of y'all post pics at, 800x600, 1024x768, or 1280x1024? Let's settle on a standard. It's going to be a picture-heavy thread, so I'd suggest that all pics be resized to 800x600 both for consistency (better visual comparison) and for speed of loading the page. Let's have the front of the truck on the left side of the picture. Pete can you decide on a size everyone should Pm they're pictures. I'm going to start compiling tire sizes now. I tried calling them to get a complete list of all sizes between 205/75/15 and a 37" or 38" tire but they were no help at all. I'll just keep checking other ads to get more sizes............ Yeah, I know we have the projects section, but, it would be alot easier to dedicate a single thread to it so one wouldn't have do dig through hundreds of pages of ongoing builds to find the part where they actually did the lift. Even then, I've noticed alot of fellas just write "got some work done and slap up a pic of their lift and tires on" which isn't conducive to getting the information you need. I've actually looked through alot of this site myself and have gotten extremely frustrated. I like how this is going so far! If I remember correctly the way to measure is from the center of your axle/wheel to the bottom of the stock fender flare. Ther was another way but I don't remember what it was. Somebody chime in. Stock was 17" front 21" back Can someone confirm that? Since not all lift kits actually give you the amount advertized everyboby is going to have to measure. So.... Anybody that measures 18" front and 22" rear is actually a 1" lift. and so on.... Does that sound like the correct way to do this. I guess we can go in half inch increments from stock to what?...8-10 inches of lift. Whoever doesn't have stock flares or has cut up the fenders is going to have to measure the other way. Do NOT measure from the diff housing or shift motor housing. 2WD models should be 6-3/4" plus or minus 1/2". 4WD models should be 7-3/4" plus or minus 1/2". Rear: Measure the vertical distance between the top of the axle tube and the underside of the frame rail inboard of the jounce bumper. 2WD models should be 8.2" plus or minus 1/2". 4WD models should be 9.2 inches plus or minus 1/2". When someone submits a picture for the thread we should just put the picture up, list the brand and size of the lift and tire size. Afterall, the thread reads, what does my MJ "look" like with..... Than not to mention people who are running without flares/trimmed. Think about it just for a 31" tire size. 31's fit with no lift 31's fit with no lift and no flares 31's fit with 1" Budget Boost 31's fit with 1" Budget Boost and no flares 31's fit with 1.5" Budget Boost 31's fit with 1.5" Budget Boost and no flares 31's fit with 2" Budget Boost 31's fit with 2" Budget Boost and no flares 31's fit with 3.5" Lift 31's fit with 3.5" Lift and no flares 31's fit with 4.5" Lift 31's fit with 4.5" Lift and no flares 31's fit with 6.5" Lift 31's fit with 6.5" Lift and no flares So right there is 14 SEPARATE pics for just a 31" tire. Multiply that by the list of tires you have and we're looking at several hundred photo's with different combo's. My vote goes for setting a standard as far as how the photo is taken (side shot on level ground) and than having the user state what they have. For example. Year & Model: (LWB vs. SWB, Metric Ton vs. Standard) Lift height: (Listed Lift Height & Actual Height you got, plus the brand) Shocks: (Brand or part # or what height lift they are made for) Tire size: (Listed & Actual) Wheel Size & Backspacing: (Width, Diameter, and BS) Pro's and Con's: (what you like/dislike about the current setup your running) Notes: (Add a short description as if trimming was needed how much. Please remember to include other details that may be important such as SYE's, bumpstop extensions & if it rubs, but try to keep it as short as possible.) This way someone can see a photo and say "hey I like the looks of that" and than know exactly what lift/tires/wheels etc. the person is running. PLUS not all 3" lifts are created equal. One 3" lift may only lift 2.5" and another 3" lift may lift 3.5". You posting a photo of a "3" lift" is somewhat irrelevant without stating the manufacture etc. Plus doing it this way allows the user to give me details about the lift they are running (SOA vs. Leaf Pack) etc. Like I said just my penny and a half worth; take it for what it's worth...
