juan Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 anybody has one? I'm looking to do the bed of my mj and do not know which one to get, any opinions? thanks.
james750 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 i don't have one but herculiner seems to be the choice for diy bed liners.
88MJofficer Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I got my spray on done by line-x and I love it. It faded just a little bit, but so does every other companies. If I remember correctly it was around 300 or 400. It is worth it and its so strong its blast proof.
Car RamRod Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I forget the brand I used but it ran me about 180 for the setup. I did the floor of my cab and a few other trucks with it and am very happy.
Randy in Maine Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I put Herculiner on there about 3-4 years ago and it is still holding up pretty well. I think I used a gallon and a quart and have about 4 layers on there. Make sure your prep it well though.
BLHTAZ Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Ours is being done by Line-X next week hopefully. They have an additive now that is supposed to keep it from fading. It does cost extra, but they give a gaurantee with it too...I just don't remember the details right now as it has been a few months since we discussed it now.
djag12 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I've used hurculiner because it was roll-in. Works well. For the MJ I'm going to buy a setup on ebay to do the cab and bed. Think it will run around $200.
Tonedef131 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I haven't put one on my bed but I did my floors with the rattlecan stuff from autozone and for the price I am very happy with it.
deziped Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I had my bed sprayed with Reflex Liner over a year ago. It still looks shiny & NEW. it cost about $350. Enter Reflex Liner in your search window to read about it. They even have a coupon for it. Have some color choices also. I'm not affiliated with this company, just happy with their product. Coupon expires: May 14, 2008
135Boom Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 RHINO LINING. Had it on three trucks now and I can't get the stuff to chip or wear out. Toughest stuff I have seen. Seen a lot of problems with line-x for some reason. Doesnt take much for it to peel up or rip when sliding something with any weight across it.
500 MJ Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Got my bed and bumpers done at the local body shop. They use Extreme Liners product and its guaranteed as well. The plates on the wheelwells are for my rollbar to bolt into.
juan Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 Well I contacted a rhino lining place today and they wanted $525 to do the bed and the bed rails. I was hoping it will be a bit less - still looking.....
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I did mine myself for about $40. Duplicolor Spray in Bedliner in a can. Stuff works greats and if you give it several coats it last quite well as well. I've used it on the bed of my MJ as well as all the rockers on our XJ's.
juan Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 Yes - I also used the duplicolor stuff in the can on my rockers and inside the floor on both the xj and mj. It looks and works fine but I'm a bit concern about durability in the bed - I do not want to scrape it the first time I drag a shovel on it. I have seen the rhino and line x and like both but do not like the price, How about the Herculiner? anyone has anything to say good , bad?
james750 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 lead, what do u think of the durability in the bed of yours. the price and ease of this product is very tempting. :chillin:
CWLONGSHOT Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I did mine myself for about $40. Duplicolor Spray in Bed-liner in a can. Stuff works greats and if you give it several coats it last quite well as well. I've used it on the bed of my MJ as well as all the rockers on our XJ's. I am VERY surprised you have had good results with this product. Glad it works for you, it dosen't for me. I use it for many applications, but for real durability ...well it sucks!! Its fine if its not going to see stuff rubbed and ground into it. It will come off fairly easily. Cinder blocks, metal and anything hard or sharp digs right thru it. It will hold up to foot traffic and fire wood and the like. One thing I LOVE THIS stuff for is handles on sledge hammers and gun stocks!!! CW
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Well I will admit I have not put it to "the test" yet. The MJ is just a trail-only rig and the most I've had in the bed is some camping stuff, my big "trail box" that's full of tools/spare parts, and a spare tire. I have not put a load of stone or anything like that in it. So take it for what it's worth. For me it serves the purpose very well; for someone else who uses the bed a lot more than I do than it "may" not hold up as well; I dunno.
CWLONGSHOT Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Juan, Why not just herculine it as you have done in the cab? I have a gallon here form some time back when I got it on sale... CW
juan Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 CW - that is the way I'm starting to lean right now. The herculiner or the duplicolor one that brushes the same way as the herculiner. I'm thinking in giving it a few coats of this stuff to build it up. For the price is worth a shot. I'm going to watch the sale for these product and for warmer weather to do the work.
fiatslug87 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Hey deziped, What color is this on your truck? Where did you get it done? How much did it cost? Thanks. Oh, by the way this is what it looks like[/img]
87ComancheLB Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I tried Herculiner in the cab and nerf bars, prep is the key, follow all instruction, they give you a scouring pad to scuff up the surface but I sure didn't trust it to do a good job ended up using sandblaster 60 coarse then prep with Xylol, pretty tough stuff with all those rubber bits, just don't get any on your hootus.lol Bought mine at local Kragen 1 gallon kit $89 minus $25 rebate so around $65 plus tax. 1 Gallon enough to do a 6ft bed add a quart more for 7ft. http://www.herculiner.com/specialoffer.html
