fiatslug87 Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Anyone ever use a Drill Doctor to sharpen their bits? My wife bought one for me over 20 years ago (even came with a VHS instruction tape ) and I finally used it yesterday. I had a broken 3/8” bit that I sharpened, I was surprised how well it worked! Used it to drill 18 holes through 1/4” stainless steel, it worked like a charm. Sharpened bit on the right.
eaglescout526 Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I remember watching project farm do drill bit sharpeners a year or so ago.
watchamakalit Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Years ago I worked with a guy who had one. I got to use it a few times. Seemed to work ok. bits were definitely sharper after.
derf Posted June 18 Posted June 18 It works well enough. Very small bits are hard to line up right. But it does give life to worn out bits.
Eagle_SX4 Posted June 18 Posted June 18 It doesn't compare to a commercial unit like the one I use at work. However it is a great tool to have and is a great option for occasional use. The one I have uses a diamond wheel which is courser than I would prefer, but it still get the job done.
pizzaman09 Posted Sunday at 01:19 PM Posted Sunday at 01:19 PM I have one and reflect what others have said. They work well, and certainly do a better job than I do by hand on a bench grinder.
