fiatslug87 Posted Thursday at 03:39 AM Posted Thursday at 03:39 AM Anyone ever use a Drill Doctor to sharpen their bits? My wife bought one for me over 20 years ago (even came with a VHS instruction tape ) and I finally used it yesterday. I had a broken 3/8” bit that I sharpened, I was surprised how well it worked! Used it to drill 18 holes through 1/4” stainless steel, it worked like a charm. Sharpened bit on the right.
eaglescout526 Posted Thursday at 06:13 AM Posted Thursday at 06:13 AM I remember watching project farm do drill bit sharpeners a year or so ago.
watchamakalit Posted Thursday at 09:42 AM Posted Thursday at 09:42 AM Years ago I worked with a guy who had one. I got to use it a few times. Seemed to work ok. bits were definitely sharper after.
derf Posted Thursday at 12:26 PM Posted Thursday at 12:26 PM It works well enough. Very small bits are hard to line up right. But it does give life to worn out bits.
Eagle_SX4 Posted Thursday at 01:20 PM Posted Thursday at 01:20 PM It doesn't compare to a commercial unit like the one I use at work. However it is a great tool to have and is a great option for occasional use. The one I have uses a diamond wheel which is courser than I would prefer, but it still get the job done.
