89 MJ
Some neat pictures mostly from the late 80s and early 90s that my parents and grandparents have taken of some cars that they knew well. Starting with the newest photo. This is probably from 2001 or 2002 and is my grandpa’s 34 Chevy Master Town sedan. It was a super rare car because it had a trunk and it had a tree going through it when my grandpa got it. He and my dad made it a hot rod in the late 80s and early 90s. It had a 350 built to 1971 LT1 specs, but with a hydraulic cam and a tripower, Mustang II suspension, Ford 8” rear, and a TH350. Next are some cars that my grandparents’ neighbor had when my dad was growing up. The neighbor had muscular dystrophy, so he could not drive by the late 90s, but was still a huge car guy. His 67 Mustang fastback. The 67 again with his 66 fastback that had custom flared fenders. My dad later bought the 66. Look close and you’ll see a J10 in the background of the next two photos. More pics of just the 66. And now for the holy grail. This next car was one of the neighbor’s prized possessions. My dad would drive him around in this car even before he had his permit. Unfortunately, it had been resprayed green instead of the factory red (though the green is a nicer color) and it no longer had the numbers matching engine. It is a 68 Shelby GT500 KR Convertible. One of 318 built. Anyone else have neat old pics like these? Let’s see them!

They all went to dinner in it once . My grandfather drive, grandmother holding my aunt in her hands in the passenger seat. My dad road the transmission jump and my uncle stood in front of my grandmother holding the dashboard grab handle. This was in 1960s Cleveland. Gojira94
Here's another of those 318 1968 GT500KR. Pic is from 1999, my associate Ward "The Madman" Madsen is pulling it into the service bay. We worked at Goodyear Certified Auto Service Center #2356 next to Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh, NC. It's (still) owned by a rich (now retired) dentist. We were correcting an issue with the left leaf spring to level the rear stance. There was a lot of talent in that shop before Goodyear did away with it all and went "Just Tires."

pizzaman09
A couple pictures of my Austin Healey Sprite when my grandfather restored it in the 80s. It only had PA classic plates on it at the time so these pictures must have been pre 1996 when it was last inspected. The pics are on my cube wall at work. The Corvair and Winnebago in the background of the second pic are both results of my grandparents businesses. They had an unsuccessful dune buggy business building them out of Corvairs. The Winnebago rental business was very successful. This pic is of the Mercedes 86 560SL my grandfather purchased apparently in 97. He loves his panoramic camera lense... My parents have this car now, the winter pic explains the rust it has. 😣
hgeranium
Wow, this is a lot of British cars. Were they popular back when they were being sold new into the 70s or do they just have a cult following with enthusiasts? They look like a blast to drive but something tells me the reputation about British automobiles had to have started somewhere...

Super cool that both of those cars are still in the family. 1 hour ago, hgeranium said: Wow, this is a lot of British cars.
