Ricky8227
Okay so I’m trying to lower this jeep in the rear cause it sits way higher in the rear. According to you guys I will try shorter shackles first to lower it 1.5”-2”. But why is the tire so off centered? Will lowering help center it out? fiatslug87
My guess is since those are not MJ leaf packs the center is off.
eaglescout526
Oh my god, the previous owner used an XJ axle and used the shock mounts from it too. Actually I take it back, it kinda looks like they flipped the XJ axle the other way. Either way your rear end looks like it’s been bastardized. 89 MJ
Also, your bedsides have been cut where the factory flares mount, so I don’t think you’ll be able to mount them easily unless you repair the bedside.

My guess is that a previous owner used XJ lift leafs and moved the front mount back to line up with the rear hanger. Also measure how long the leafs are along the top. Factory Comanche springs are 26 inches in front of the axle 31 inches behind the axle. XJ Cherokee springs are 23" in the front 28 5/8" in the back. This thread has a good pic of where the front mount should be for the short bed. Appears to be about center of the front 2 bed mounts. I did see your other post about fender flares and the factory flares won't bolt back to your bed without some welding. The entire mounting flange has been cut off. But the good news is you can buy patch panels to fix those. https://www.quadratec.com/p/key-parts/rear-fender-panel-comanche-mj

I dug back through my pictures, and both of my SWB trucks that had good unibodies seemed to have the front spring mount farther forward.
89eliminator
quite a few things going on there. Non MJ leaf packs, non factory front leaf hanger location, and the obvious main reason that they didn't execute these "mods" correctly.

MancheKid86
have we ruled out if the previous owner has bobed the frame to fit a swb box on a lwb platform? not sure if that would work can't actually tell what the front mounts look like with the pic resolution

Ok, and just so you know, your inner wheelhouse spot welds to that piece right where the flares bolt to the bed sides. You’ll have some work to do there. DesertRat1991
Oh my.... Can we get a rearview shot of the axle/leafs? Were the spring perches on that axle relocated to proper MJ width?
